Thoroughly enjoyable fourth mystery for DI McCord to solve in the Edinburgh Murders series. An interesting array of characters and a winding plot which leaves the reader wondering what will come next. As always, Amy Thornton, the journalist, sticks her nose into McCord's investigation and the sparks flowing between the two of them are always entertaining, humorous and pertinent to the story. McCord's sidekick, Calderwood, comes across as a really nice guy and supportive of McCord. I have followed this series from Book 1 and trust there will be more to follow - an excellent read and one I highly recommend.

What it says on the tin - a light hearted Scottish mystery. I like a good fiction police investigation, and I can say I really like the style of this one. It has all the good parts of the genre, along with a gentle humour based style and characters that you can have fun spending your time with. This may be the fourth in the series but I felt immediately at home with the story even though I haven’t read the others in the series. But having found this I hope to catch up with em soon. I liked Amy and Russell. Didn't like Struthers at all.

A laidback police detective mystery, with a female amateur sleuth thrown in for free. A couple of love stories stirring around in the background. Some action here and there. Just a nice quiet read. No gore, well yeah, some blood, but you won't get it on you.
A fun read. I will have to read another by Traude Ailinger.

Engaging and entertaining
I found this book to be well paced with interesting characters. It was not predictable and tedious. I am however disappointed that there are no more books in this series. It was an enjoyable read.

I concede defeat….. If this is ‘cosy crime’ I like it!
I balked at book one because I though it was unclear in its genre. The writing is good and in my mind only slightly more ‘cosy’ than many others I’ve read. I will read more by this author. Thank you for your skill.

another hit
Very good book really enjoyed the storyline like how I know the places ,I live in Dunbar just along from East Linton. The characters are becoming more interesting as you read more books, feel as if I know them personally. Highly recommend everyone to read the series.

Brilliant book great storylines and characters I sympathise with DI McCord there is always a colleague who doesn’t pull there weight and a boss who likes the limelight. Love these books couldn’t put it down would recommend to anyone

A great addition to the series. The plot is endearing with Amy Thornton continuing to help her partners solve the next crime in Edinburgh! A super read!

This is the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last as I thoroughly enjoyed the solid mystery and the characters.
Want to read the other books in this series.
Highly recommended.
