Ascension Press ran a Facebook group for 7 weeks in summer of 2023 following the 7 chapters and interacting with the author and other readers.
While not as archaic as St. Francis de Sales' Introduction to Devotion, Whitmore was conscientious about how he spoke of each virtue to help readers reason out their own situations.
Fortuitously, Catechism in a Year podcast was delving into virtues about the same time. Paragraphs 1730-1845 all relate to this.

This is a great book looking at virtue and several strategies to help one grow in virtue. Well worth reading.
