Love is immortal and time, as we know it, is circular. Souls never truly die, but connect with each other in different times, different worlds.
A modern American girl is about to discover just how mystical the world can be.
And just how much she loved an ancient king… and was loved in return.
Destry Caldbeck, smarting from being jilted at the altar, travels to Ireland on what was supposed to be her honeymoon. While visiting Dowth, an ancient Neolithic site outside of Dublin, she encounters a group of students and their instructor. Dr. Conor Da Derga is everything an Irishman should be - enormous, muscular, red-headed, and drop-dead sexy. He’s also loud, booming, animated, and brilliant.
Conor, having seen the gorgeous American with the bright eyes when she first arrived at the mound, is thrilled to have a chance encounter with her. Destry and Conor share a moment of undeniable attraction before ancient incantations and ghostly visitations begin to lend clues to their past lives as an ancient king and queen. Soon, they find themselves caught up in a maelstrom of time shifts, landing them back in the Middle Ages of Ireland’s history where they discover a high king’s destiny.
But their situation is far more complex and dangerous than it seems.
Conor was once known as the Ard-Rí of Ciannachta, a powerful ancient kingdom. As the High King, he was much respected but as he quickly discovers, his jealous brother rose up against him and Conor and Destry were banished to the nether regions by an evil wizard. But the forces of good are with them and they are returned to Ciannachta to once again claim the throne and save the land, now suffering under the false king. It’s up to Destry and Conor to save a kingdom that once belonged to them and to understand that their lives are caught up in an ancient cycle of fate they can’t control.
And a love that will never end.
Live the adventure.

I have read quite a few time travel romance books but this one is so different, I absolutely loved it!! I swear Kathryn Le Veque was born to be a story teller!
Destry and Conor's story had me embracing the whole concept of time travel, soulmates, magic, etc, and from modern world to the medieval era, it kept me fascinated and intrigued. I did need some tissues at the ending, you will understand once you read the story.
Is it any wonder Kathryn Le Veque is always a "must read" for me?!!
A Love Never Forgotten Why am I not surprised that only Kathryn LeVeque could write a time travel story so uniquely different. From the beginning to the end you were caught up between to worlds present and past. Only mixed into a story that has you mesmerized beyond belief. The events that happen catch you by surprise . Wondering with each page what is going to happen next. There will be plenty of adventure, excitement, magic, and a love that has no time limits. Destry Caldbeck and Dr.Connor Da Durga meet while she is on a vacation in Ireland with her best friend. There is this is instant attraction when they meet. This is where it all begins. Not giving anything away . You Must Experience this for yourself. This was a Magical, Charismatic, Enchanting, Romantic experience. A Must Read. You will be thinking about it and retelling the story to anyone that will listen. I even made my Husband listen to me tell it to him.
Destry Caldbeck is on a jilted honeymoon trip with her best friend Aisling in Dowth, Ireland looking at some ancient ruins. When Destry sees a charismatic, charming man, Dr. Conor Da Derga teaching a class. As Aisling talks with Conor, he also is drawn to Destry but is polite enough to talk with both women. Destry hears someone calling her Etain, at first, she thinks it’s just her mind playing tricks on her and ignores the voice. When Destry gets back to the hotel she can’t sleep a wink and keeps hearing the voice calling to her again. Finally, she goes to Conor to tell him that she keeps hearing voices. Destry is determined to prove that she isn’t crazy so goes back to the site but instead is thrust back in time with Conor right along with her. As Conor and Destry try to figure out what time they are in, there is danger around every corner including Conor’s enemy brother who wants him dead. Destry and Conor must find a way to survive and the buried love they have for each other might show them how to defeat evil if it doesn’t kill them first. This book was such a long time in coming but well worth the wait, definitely better late than never! Ms. Kathryn Le Veque surely didn’t disappoint with this amazing time travel filled with non-stop action, battles, magic and a heart stopping romance that way just absolutely to die for! The story just pulled you along and didn’t let up until the last page. I not only adored everything about it but the characters as well. Conor is just the best hero, he’s smart, drop dead gorgeous handsome and no I am not ashamed to admit that he is added to my stable of ever-growing book boyfriends. Yes, Destry had lots of bed sport with him but who can blame her because it would be awfully hard to resist his magnetism too. Destry did annoy me at times but really, she wasn’t bad. She did come off as being a bit superficial but yes it would be hard to be in her position. I did fall for everything this story had to offer. Will I read it again? Mostly definitely! In fact, no I haven’t stopped either!
Part of this story was published in 2014 called ECHOES OF ANCIENT TIMES. It was also part of a bundle called LOVE NEVER DIES: A Time-Travel Collection around 2020. Back almost 10 years ago, this ended in a major cliffhanger. The author now has finished the story so you are getting the complete storyline. I felt the last part was rushed and not as fulfilling as the beginning. I do appreciate the author states in the blurb, it being published previously in Echoes of Ancient Times.
The development of the character's felt so real, and I was agonized right along with them.
The lovemaking was so beautiful, not the erotica type, but somewhat descriptive. Heat level 4.25 out of 5. They make love in same room their children are in and that was unsettling to me. But, then I realized in some cultures whole families live in one room so having sex is a given with children being near.
Little on action until the end. I didn't care for the ending and how it is resolved with the H/h. I wanted to know the history of the two younger sons. You will have to suspend belief in this story for sure.
No cheating, finally no cliffhanger, HEA I guess, no real romance, some crude words used, and spice. (ljb)
Destry is supposed to be on her honeymoon but instead her best friend has come with her. They are touring Ireland and exploring some historical sites.
Conner is an University professor who specialises in ancient history. He has always felt a strong draw to the ancient weapons of war.
This is the complete story of a time-travel romance, once partly told in a previous book ( Echoes of Ancient Dreams) by this author. Its a fantastic adventure from start to finish. Its a little steamy and filled with fabulous characters and more than a little magic. I must admit I feel really sorry for the youngest character. He must have been devastated with this ending. I don't want to say more about him because it could spoil it for you.
As is usual for any book by this author ,once you pick it up , you will not be able to put it down. You will laugh and cry and fall in love with both the hero and heroine.
High King , book 2 of Kathryn LeVeque’s High Warriors of Rohan, was amazing! When Destry Caldebeck is left at the alter she takes her honeymoon to Ireland anyway. While visiting Dowth an ancient Neolithic site outside Dublin she encounters a Dr. Conor DaDerga, and there is an instant attraction, and a feeling of having found one another. From there they transport through time and place to a past life where they were king and queen, and a family with children, until banished to the neverworld with no memory of each other by an evil wizard. Is it just a dream, or is it possible that this really happened? This was an absolutely fabulous story! It was filled with emotion and a love that would always find a way even through time and all eternity. Beautiful, just beautiful! I listened to the audiobook narrated by Sean Patrick Hopkins who was outstanding!
It is not a bad book. She wrote a little differently this time. I enjoy all Le Veque's books. My favorite ones are the families books. de Wolfe, de Lohr, de Roynese, de Russe and de Velt and so on.Blood and guts, romance, war, power struggles. I recommend them. I also like her author notes in some of the books. If romance is not what you enjoy, skip that part. you will feel like you are right there in the middle of the battle on horses and fighting fiercely with the strong warriors.
As I write this review I am asking myself if I am being unfair. I can say only say that this book is not really to my taste. I like and read time travel books but in this one there is something missing. I buy and read with joy books written by KLV and once started find them hard to put down. This is the exception to the rule as I found it hard to pick up and get it finished. Hence only 3*
Wonderful time travel romance. I felt as if I was really there, experiencing all the special moments along with Conor and Destry. Conor and Destry were able to make many positive changes back in time to advance that culture. Awesome story. Kathryn Le Veques stories never disappoint her readers.
I am not much into time travel romance, but this particular novel peaked my interest and I couldn’t put it down until I completed it. I loved how the story progressed into the past and the intrigue involved. I would recommend it to anyone who like reading about Irish history.
I love and have read all of Kathryn Le Veque's books but this is story had too many holes in it and it seemed to have been written fast leaving out needed explanations and details to leave you wondering. It almost like someone else tried to finish writing the book for her. As I said, big disappointment. But I'll continue to read her books.
Really superb! Such powerful themes and characters!
I loved the romances in this and in all of her medieval themed books. I've read a few dozen so far and my worst fear is that I'm going to run out of her books. Noooo!
I've written a bit myself, enough to appreciate her skills. Thank you, Kathryn, for your gifts to your readers. You go girl! More, please!!😊
I love Ireland and this story was lots of fun to read. I have read most of Kathryn LeVeque's novels and loved every one. My ancestors all came from England, Wales, France and the Netherlands so I "live" the story as I read it. This author brings you right into the life of her characters. Thank you for these exciting and well researched stories.
I have read many time travel books but this one was different. Conor and Destry had a experience only they would remember but they knew they were part of history.
I rarely enjoy time travel novels and end up sending them back. This however was very interesting and well worth my time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Wow, what a story. Couldn't figure out how this story would end, but Ms. le Veque pulled it off. So many twists and turns - Love, battles, time travel, children. Everything tied up in one story.
