"Practicing With Purpose: Winning in Law & Life" by Cindy Watson is not only a brilliant read for lawyers who want to bring more purpose into their careers and reignite their passion for law, but for anyone looking to bring more purpose and direction into their life. This is an informative and highly intriguing read that will leave readers with much to think about long after turning the last page.

One of the things learned in this book is that lawyers quickly face burnout. Whether that's from the hours they work with very little reward; the drive for money that leads to long hours, taking on cases that aren't of interest, and the stress that comes with it; or working for a firm (big or small) whose goals no longer align with the individual(s). Cindy Watson interviews many experts in the law field about how they reignite their passion for law, bring creativity into their work, balance work and personal life, and define success (among many other topics).

Each section offers insightful approaches in bringing passion back into a field that drains people of their energy and purpose. These experts offer vulnerable experiences of when they reached a point in their careers where they no longer felt their job was aligned with the goals they once had. Many even considered quitting law altogether. It took a lot of self-reflection for them to redirect themselves and find a way to bring passion back into their jobs and their life. Here, they discuss what they had to do to find that passion in their career and personal lives again. Readers will learn what approaches these experts took that are proven to work. Any lawyer is going to find this a highly beneficial and inspiring read.

Though this reader is not a lawyer, many of the topics touched on in this novel truly resonated, such as imposter syndrome, burnout, finding purpose in one's career/life, and trying to find time for oneself in a busy and demanding life. Each industry expert said something (or a lot of somethings) that caused this reader to think "hey, that's me!" or that resulted in a pause for self-reflection. While those featured in this book are lawyers, this shows that there are many gems woven throughout that benefit readers who aren't necessarily in that field.

"Practicing With Purpose: Winning in Law & Life" by Cindy Watson is brilliantly written and snares the reader from the first page. Insightful, inspiring, and full of optimism, this is the perfect book to get anyone back on track with reigniting passion and purpose in their life and career. A highly recommended read!
