Vivian Westwood has always felt behind in life. Being recently fired and with no family to speak of, she decides to shift her views after a sudden accident.
Dr. Matthew Halloway has spent his adult years fixing mistakes—broken arms, lacerations, but mostly his own life.
When the pair collide over and over again, fate seems set on their fiery love affair. Vivian dares to hope her life may be on an upswing, newly dating the doctor and landing her dream job at a bookstore. At her new job, she befriends the elderly owners who treat her like the grandparents she never had. Vivian feels complete for the first time in her life.
But when one of Matthew’s mistakes hits too close to home, Vivian must decide if she can look beyond his past or must live life without the man who stole her heart.
The bones were there for such a good story, however, it was not executed in the correct way to make this book stand out. It seemed repetitive, had plot holes, grammatical mistakes (which I can look past for indie authors, especially with debut novels), and for me the FMC was not likeable, acted immature, and made so many terrible decisions. By the end I was ready to move on to another book.
Also, this could be the mental health clinician in me, but the way the main characters spoke about having social anxiety and not knowing/finding any other coping mechanisms aside from drinking was a huge turnoff to me, and I’m not quite sure how the MMC put up with it.
For a debut novel, I feel like it shows the potential this author has. Yes there were parts that seemed repetitive or plots that could of been deeper explored but in my opinion, it was good nonetheless. It was a short book that was easy to get through and hard to put down. A few plot twists seemed to be predicable but I still really enjoyed the story. I can’t wait to see what the author writes next!!
3.5. it moved really fast at certain points that needed more but considering it was 212 pages it was good and I couldn’t put it down. ending also made me cry so that’s a plus
It’s a yes from me! I mostly figured out the twist ahead of time, but that didn’t make it hurt any less. 🥺 I’ve had this one sitting for months, and I wish I would’ve read it sooner. I went through all the emotions here, and even shed some tears. Totally not one of my typical favorites, but I loved every minute. It’s a quick read. Gooey, with just enough angst and spice. I think a part of me fell in love with Dr. Matthew Halloway. I could’ve used an epilogue though; that’s probably my only complaint.
What a cutie wholesome book 🥹 There’s no way you could dislike any of the characters from the book (except the two guys… but you get what I mean). It was a very easy read that I needed as I’m trying to get out of this book funk. The spice was nice, but wasn’t so overwhelming it took over the book. Also, I am officially a Vivy and Matt stan. What I liked about Vivian is she was a pretty realistic character, so it was very easy to like her. Matt is nothing but green flags!!
So I finished how often we collide. I'm gonna say 4/5. It was a quick read, it wasn't ever boring or just dragging on. It's only 1 perspective so you don't know what he's thinking. He is perfect. Legit golden retriever German Shepard mix. She's a mess. While it wasn't boring, I feel like somethings happened a little too fast especially at the end but it wrapped up nicely.
4 stars; If you’re looking for a fast read, this is your book! It jumped right in to what was going on, no slow burn. Occasionally, the fast pace seemed to skim over a little too quickly, but overall that’s what you get from a ~212 page book. Great spice, great story; even shed a few tears.
Loved it! I will admit, after some of the reviews I was a little nervous I wouldn’t like it or make it through the whole book. WRONG! I loved it, shed a couple small tears and just loved how everything came together. Madeline, you did great for your first book! :)
This was a great slow burn. I loved the build up and the sexual tension. I enjoyed the plot and the loved the relationship Vivian developed with Bill and Caroline. Sex scenes could’ve been better but we’re still decent.
I enjoyed it at first. But the characters lacked any depth that I didn’t care enough about them to finish the book. It felt like a chore after the 50% mark. I held out for a bit thinking it’s going to get interesting but it didn’t.
2.5 starts. this book wasn’t horrible but i guessed what was going to happen like 30 pages in. there were also multiple grammar and plot mistakes which definitely brought the rating down. i feel like i could’ve found this book on wattpad 🫤
Had a good base and heartwarming at times, sweet with lots of smut. But the book needed editing, lacked depth, and was repetitive with the FMC non stop drinking. I can look past some of that for a debut novel, hence the 3 stars. Started off strong for me but by the end I was ready to be done. Good thing it’s short
this book was okay! there was a few actually like really good twists and turns in the plot but i love how it ended up and how mature the characters are in the book. it’s so cute
