Holiday Origins is a box set of 3 marvelous books from the Off-Duty (ex-military) Rescue Ranch Series by Zee Irwin.
1. OFF -DUTY SAINT-The doctor and Fifty find their love
This is the first book in the Off-Duty Ranch Series by Zee Irwin. While all three of these marvelous books can be read as a stand-alone, I believe it is better to read them in this order. In this book, Christopher “Chris” Magnus is introduced as a son along with six half-brothers of Harry Magnus a wealthy man who has just past away. Everyone is present for the reading of his will, each son is given an envelope with a date corresponding to their birthdays when they are to open the envelope. Chris whose envelope instructs him to open it immediately is ex-military and a small town doctor who owns a non-profit horse rescue ranch. His father never had anything to do with him or his mother after marrying his current wife but in the envelope he left for Chris he instructs him that he has two years to find a wife in order to get an inheritance of a billionaire dollars. The reader is also introduced to Nicolette Stone (real name Nikki Sloan) who is a country music singer from a small town in Virginia. Nikki ends up on Chris’ ranch after a car wreck that leaves her with a concussion passed out in Fifty’s stall. Fifty is a newly acquired rescue horse that immediately takes a liking to Nikki. But will he be the only one to take a liking to Nikki? Will Chris be able to heal her and keep her safe? Will the half-brothers cause problems? The book is well written grammatically with interesting characters with some steamy love scenes and adult-rated words used. Overall it’s a remarkable story about a lonely handsome man and Fifty, a horse seeking human kindness finding an equally lonely beautiful woman and gaining their HEA.
2. OFF-DUTY HOLIDAY-Both wounded in their own ways, can they heal each other?
I don’t know if I can honestly pinpoint what stood out in this book above other “ my friend’s brother” romance books I’ve read before but maybe I have a heart for the wounded and Zee Irwin showcases two of the most powerful of wounds here. The first being the wounded self- confidence of Ava caused by her ex-boyfriend Drake and the most powerful wounded being that of the wounded soldier portrayed not only by Will but also by Chris, Ryder and all the other comrades of these three men. Adding two romance authors as friends was a plus to the book.The drama and oh… the romance was so good almost “book-like”. It’s a well written book, characters are great, contains true getting to know each other dialogue along with flirty innuendos with romance adding up to steamy love and a happy ending but yet you feel as though you’ve got to hear more about at least one more character, anticipating a third book and we get
3. OFF-DUTY CUPID-You are going to love the Off-DutyEx-Military) Rescue Ranch Cowboys
Zee Irwin has roped me in with the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch Series and this addition to the series might even be the best so far. The Off-Duty Rescue Ranch is ran by ex-military alphas, wounded in some way themselves, whose main purpose is to take in wounded and neglected horses. But these rugged, handsome ex-military-turned-cowboys are born protectors and the series has each one rescuing their own woman. And once they have they will do everything and anything to protect her. Off-Duty Cupid starts with a dark, horrible scene with Ryder Reed, a young man planning to leave for Marine boot camp the next morning, after hearing the screams and cries of a young girl takes matters into his own hands and beats the young girls’ abusive father with a bat after he sees the broken bones, cuts, bruises and brokenness of the two young girls at the hands of their father. The sheriff of the town takes Ryder into custody but gives him the option of jail or leaving the next day for boot camp. The book then skips 15 years ahead with Ryder now a wounded ex-Marine working on the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch alongside Chris, the owner of the ranch married to Nikki, Will and his girlfriend Ava. Rose Reed, Ryder’s mom, is working at the bank in town and has befriended Monday Miller, who does online accounting services for several clients including the ranch. Monday is a loner and keeps her private life to herself because she has dark secrets of her past that she’s running from. Rose finds out that the ranch needs someone to come fill in at the office while Chris and Nikki are gone for a month, so she recommends and talks Monday into going. Rose is playing matchmaker here too. Ryder takes an interest in Monday the moment he sees her and for some reason he senses something very familiar about her but he can’t figure out what. Will Monday’s past catch up to her? Will Ryder figure out why she seems familiar and will he be able to win her over? Will he be able to protect her? The book is well written, flows easily, main characters are developed to the max with the support characters introduced perfectly, told in dual POV with adequate dialogue, with at least one steamy love scene for adults only, and a sweet HEA. Guarantee you will love the Clydesdale, Cupid, and enjoy the antics of the three new cowboys. The book does mention child abuse, foster care abuse, abduction, violence, wounded veterans, and abused and neglected animals but not to the extent of being overly descriptive or offensive. This book, as well as the whole series, is well worth reading…if for no other reason than for the protective, ex-military-turned-cowboy, handsome alphas.

Off-Duty Saint - This is a holiday romance that has a number of twists that you can't help but love. At the reading of his father's will, Chris learns to get his inheritance he has two years to find love and get married. With a month to go, Chris is more concerned in how he is going to save the ranch.
Nicoletta is a successful country music singer with a bit of drama in her life, Nikki escapes to where she grew up and ends up on Chris's ranch and in his care.
Love this story - Chris and Nikki's connection, Chris's heart of wanting to help other soldiers and that he took Nikki in. Nikki wanting the best for Chris and the ranch, giving up her happiness. The twist at the end finding out what was in Hughs' envelope has the grinch all over it. Amazing story looking forward to the next story.
Off-Duty Holiday - Off- Duty Holiday is a great fast story that has a meddling family, fake relationships, misunderstandings, pressure to help and love that grabs your heart.
Will is on leave, deciding on his next step in life when he stops to visit home. Ava is a writer, needing to get away when she goes to stay with her friend. When Will wakes up at his sister, he only wishes he could remember what happen with the woman next to him.
Will and Ava's story is a ride of ups and downs, thrown in the twist of meddling mom and pressure from his father, has Will finding his path. Ava is hurt by the lies Will tells to push her away, but soon the truth comes out and lies are pushed aside.
Off-Duty Cupid - It was a dark night before Ryder was to head off to bootcamp, when he heard the cries, for her he was his guardian angel. Fifteen years later Ryder and Monday's path cross again at the less likely place - the Off - Duty Rescue Ranch.
Ryder has been discharged from the military and is working on the ranch. Monday has been work on-line doing the books for the ranch, when she was asked to help out in the office.
There is a strong connection and a heated passion, between Ryder and Monday only to find out how fate has intertwined their lives. Amazing story with danger, suspense and a love that has you holding on tight.

Off Duty Saint 5*
Second chances at Christmas for Chris and Nikki made for a wonderful feel good story. Although each was different, both Chris and Nikki have some ghosts to overcome through reflection of prior experiences and choosing a path forward for the future. After all, bearing one’s soul while admitting that mistakes were made and help is needed are all difficult things to overcome. Watching all of the pieces of the story fall into place made it that much more satisfying in the end.
Off Duty Holiday 4*
I found this to be mostly a sweet fairly straightforward second chance story. Both Ava and Will have things in their past overcome, yet somehow feel a connection when they are together. I liked some of the interpersonal ups and downs as well as challenges that this couple faced. Perhaps because the story was not very long, it seemed that perfect solutions just happened? Still it was nice to see a HEA for those involved.
Off Duty Cupid 5*
What a great story about two troubled souls and their path back to happiness! Monday’s situation was certainly difficult and I could really understand her need to be prepared to escape on short notice. Ryder has his own issues to confront. When this couple begins working together it seems that there’s more of a connection than either of them had anticipated. I also really enjoyed the antics of Cupid throughout the story along with the symbolism of the end. An enjoyable and entertaining read with a feel good HEA made this a pleasure to read.

Chris is struggling to keep his horse rescue ranch going when he finds Nikki in his barn on a freezing night. Nikki is also struggling with her singing career and was going home to West Virginia when she ends up at Chris's ranch. This is a sweet romance that is just what each needed.
Book #2 Off Duty Holiday
Ava is friends with Brenda who invites her to Key West where she ends up meeting Brenda's brother Will who is on leave from the military. They hit it off but when his parents ask him for a Hugh favor he goes along with it knowing he is breaking his heart and Ava's. Will Ava and Will finally find their way back to each other before it is too late?
Book #3 Off Duty Cupid
Off-Duty Ranch gets another romance when Monday who has a scarred past and Ryder who was left damaged from the war. As it turns out their paths crossed years ago when he steps in to save her and her sister from her abusive father the night before he went into the Marines and now they have both relocated where they both work on the ranch and she does the accounting and he is the ranch manager. This is a trilogy of the holiday Off-Duty Rescue Ranch series. I enjoyed all the books in the series.
Off-Duty Saint: Chris is a physician who runs a horse rescue hoping to use the horses as therapy for returning military men. Nicollette or Nikki is a country singer trying her best to get back on top. Fifty is the horse that is more like Cupid to these two lost souls.
Off Duty Holiday: Ava is a romance author who helped Nikki get back to her love. She is invited to her best friends place in Florida for the holidays where she meets her BFFs brother Will. They hit if off right away but can they be together when his parents are tearing them apart.
Off Duty Cupid: This is not like other small town steamy romances. This is a heart wrenching romance with a well written story that drags you in and doesn't let you leave. Monday and Ryder are a wonderful couple but it takes them a while to to get there. Monday has issues that prevent her from being totally honest but Ryder will break down her walls and get to the truth. Loved this story even through the tears and HEA.
This is an excellent trilogy. Loved it.

Off duty saint
This was a really good book, I enjoyed the storyline and everything that came with it. Niki and Chris were so good for one another. They had super intense chemistry and a deep love for each other that made everything else seem less important.
Off duty holiday
This was a really good book. It touched on different topics, and the emotions felt by the characters really drew you in. There was plenty of chemistry between Ava and Will, but Will's family was making his second guess his plans to help them with what they wanted. I strongly recommend this book, you won't be sorry.

The Off-Duty Rescue Ranch is a great place to start a new life. It was bought by Chris after he left the military for two purposes. It gives a home to abused or neglected horses so they can have a new chance and become therapy animals for vets struggling with PTSD. It also gave Nikki, a country sing a new live to live with Chris. It provided a safe place for Will to overcome his PTSD and make him a better man for his girl romance writer Ava. It helped wounded Ryder recover and start a new life and brought his angel back into his life. All three story are heart touching.

Zee Irwin is quickly becoming one of my favorites and these books are a great example of why. I read them all separately, but you get these 3 together. This book has 3 retired military cowboys that are running a ranch to that provides therapy to those who suffer PTSD and the 3 women they fall head over boots for. The books are full of sizzle, steam, action, drama, and so much more. Great author, great read!.

Three great steamy stories in one place. The stories are Off-Duty Saint = Former military doctor and owner of the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch Chris Magnus and Nicoletta Stone, Off-Duty Holiday = former Navy SEAL Will and Ava and Off-Duty Cupid = Former Marine, Ryder and Monday who have known each other before. The stories are well written and held my interest throughout. I will read this set again.

I loved reading these three stories. The stories revolve around ex military that are running a ranch to Gove back to those who suffer ptsd and other issues. Each finds their HEA with the help of a faithful horse sidecompanion who acts more like a matchmaker than a horse. Entertaining reads.

Absolutely loved this collection of intertwined standalone stories. Each one has a great storyline along with fantastic characters. Plenty of drama, passion and more throughout all. It won't be long until you've finished them all. Enjoy!.

Great stories
If you like ex-military men with a few flaws but very protective of the people they love these stories are for you. Interesting storylines and characters that are well written and keep you turning the pages. I really enjoyed all three of these stories.

Book 1 - Off-Duty Saint

This is a heartwarming Christmas novella.
Two years ago Chris' dad died and in his will, he said he would inherit one billion if he found his true love and marry her in the next two years. But Chris doesn't believe in love anymore. And he hated his father. He hurt his mother's heart so much, that she died in the end.
Chris has a ranch with 20 rescued horses. That's sooo cute. I love a guy who loves animals and when he rescues them or helps them in general, my heart is all his 🥰 It's a huge mountain ranch and he has a lot of dreams about what he could do with it, but he doesn't have the money for it. Could a marriage of convince help him?
And then, he found a woman in the stall of his newest grey horse "Fifty" 😎 She is injured. And she is hypothermic. But even though he is in doctor's mode, he recognizes that she is hot... What he doesn't know is, she is the country singer Nicoletta Stone. Chris has a history with singers and he sword off everything with music. It's so sad. But hey, at least he reads books 😁 A strong man, who rescues animals, and reads, I'm 100% in 😉
It could all be easy, even with his history, but no, even in a novella it would be too boring...

Ava is the girl who helped Nikki from book one to escape. Now she has her own story. And yes, we will have a cross-over AND we will see Nikki and Chris again 🤩
Will is home for the holidays to visit his sister Brenda. Brenda is Ava's best friend. And Ava is also visiting her for a week. But Brenda doesn't know that Will is coming. So, guess what happens, when Ava is sleeping in the guest room, the same guest room Will always sleeps in...? I won't say too much, but when they see each other for the first time, they would love to jump each other instantly 🙈
It could all be very easy... No, it never is in romance books, right? Richt! So, the reason why Will left his family and joined the military is "back" and he and Brenda got an idea, Will and Ava could get as a fake couple to the Christmas ball their parents organize... But is it really just fake? I think you can guess it... But still, it would all be too easy... And yes, we have a 3rd act break-up... I felt so sorry for BOTH of them 😔 Will was just so afraid of what happened. And Ava didn't know of anything.

This is now the third book set on the Off-Duty Rescue Ranch. This ranch is so wonderful. If I wouldn't be allergic to horses, I would love to visit it. I would love to meet Cupid, Fifty, and Sugar 😍

Monday had a really bad life. Really really terribly bad. An abusive father who bet her and her sister nearly to death. But luckily she got a guardian angel who rescued her. Unfortunately, this wasn't the end of her nightmare 😖 But she found her way to the ranch where not only animals are rescued 😊
I hate to write such short reviews, but it's a short book, and if I would write more, I would spoil too much, and that's something I hate even more than writing a short review 🙈
