Rate this book
Zhao Yi is just an orphan with nowhere to go. Thanks to a man known as Mr. Wang, he gets another opportunity at life. No longer on his own or living on the streets, he ends up being under the care of Liu Hong, or Assistant Liu of W Corp—a powerful organization with a dark, shady background.

Living with the protective and affectionate Liu Hong, the young Zhao Yi quickly develops attachments. Just when he thinks life is good, the older man says he can no longer live with him. Against Zhao Yi’s wishes, Liu Hong takes him to the Liu Household and has him live with his mother.

Throughout the next few years, despite the distance, the feelings Zhao Yi harbors for Liu Hong only grow stronger.

Afraid that Liu Hong might be romantically involved with a coworker, Zhao Yi abruptly confesses his feelings—but without any consideration, Liu Hong rejects him. According to Liu Xie, Liu Hong’s younger brother, Liu Hong doesn’t want a family or a relationship, he only cares about having a partner in bed. With that thought, Zhao Yi plans to gain experience before confessing to Liu Hong again. However, on the night that he’s about to go with another man, Liu Hong strongly refuses to let him.

"There's no need to learn with someone else,” he says. “Since I'm your end goal anyway, I'll take you straight to the finish line."

From there on, their relationship takes a wild turn. From a sheepish Zhao Yi, loving someone who’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing like Liu Hong, always, he struggles to understand the older man. With Liu Hong’s crazy schedule, his illegal dealings, and dangerous work, Zhao Yi finds it hard to fit into his life, but he never wants to give up on their love—even if Liu Hong doesn’t seem to love him.

DNF at somewhere around 30% when the child gets raped. By the guy who is supposed to “take care of him” got two pages into the horror of a kid going “no stop it hurts” before throwing my iPad. There is nothing good, worthwhile, or interesting about this novel. Why the Hell would it show up in my recommend books I don’t know. Maybe because I do read translated Chinese, Thai, and Korean danmei manhua yaoi novels? But this isn’t that, this is sick child sex fantasy. Don’t read. Don’t waste time. Consign this to the dark pit of the abyss where it belongs.

Also…this is the fourth Chinese translated danmei novel where sex between two men invokes a lot of pain and or blood. Someone needs to explain to the writers in China specifically (some but Thai writers have the problem as well,) that consenting adult MM sex should involve neither of those things.

First of all the rating only reflects how much I enjoyed reading the novel not how good it actually is.

So this book was enjoyable but i do have a lot of problems with it

translation: questionable to say the least, you can tell who or what ever translated this did not have the best English skills but you get used to it, I have read worse

Relationship: it’s weird, the age gap the dynamic is not the best, at some points it made me uncomfortable (I just wished for Zhao to just leave for a few years since his friend plans to study abroad).

Nonetheless I liked the story, I knew what I was getting and that was what I was looking for but if you can’t handle this type of story stay away.

hmm...

I have thoughts but let me read book 2 first. Book 1 abruptly ended and shocked me but I'm guessing it was meant to be read as a whole.
