I received a ARC free from Book Sirens and this is my voluntary honest review. Inspiring! Attention grabber! Comforting! Thought provoking! Amazing book!
I just finished this book and I have to say WOW!! I have never read a devotional that impacted me like this one. The author writes in a completely understandable and relatable way. No fancy "Christian jargon", just down to earth language anyone with an open mind and heart can understand. I have not been disciplined enough to read and study this devotional each and every day. But when I do read and study the day's lesson I have been so blessed! I have started a journal just for this study. I write the title of the study and the scripture verse that corresponds with it. Then I write whatever God has laid on my heart this day. And I always end with a prayer that God will continue His work in my life as He leads me through my personal journey. Some days I am encouraged, some days I am admonished, but I am always blessed with God's presence as I read, study, and pray through this study. I would encourage anyone who struggles with their personal journey with the Lord to get this book and study it. Not just read it, but ask God to personally speak to you through the author's writing. Each of us is on a life journey to eternity. Heaven or Hell is the only choice. What is your eternal destination? Kelly Mack McCoy was gracious enough to let me review this book before it is released to the general public. He did not influence my review in any way. This opinion is totally mine.
When I first came across the title of The Sojourner’s Road Home, it touched me deeply. God had been working in me on my journey, and had actually put the word “sojourner” on my heart for my own writings. A sojourner is essentially someone passing through, a pilgrim on a journey to their homeland, setting their sights beyond the here and now.
Kelly Mack McCoy presents a simple, yet profound case for following the narrow road. Through his writings on this 40-day devotional journey, he gives nuggets for each day, a quote from a prominent figure, along with a scripture reference to bring it together. The devotion follows, which is just the right amount of dialog to be doable each day. After each day’s devotion, Kelly challenges you to reflect, to journal about your journey.
This book was timely for me, encouraging me along life’s journey as I pursue The Sojourner’s Road Home. Well done, Kelly!
I enjoyed this 40-day journey with meditative thoughts and a few "aha" moments that caused me to pause and reflect. Each day is just a quick few paragraphs, followed by a page or 2 to write down the reader's personal thoughts. Unfortunately, my Paperwhite Kindle was not very compatible. The book did not allow me to write in the "Notes" section. Also, the font size was very small, and I was unable to enlarge it. I would recommend the paperback format. I received a complimentary ARC of this book and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.
Are you trying to become closer to God? If so, read this book and write your feelings and prayers each day for forty days. With good grammar and uplifting thoughts, Kelly Mack McCoy encourages the reader to examine his/her daily life and to practice the deepest praise and petitions of a believer in God. Keep this book to review in times of trouble and heartache.
This book brings you into an intimacy with God. Makes you turn your mind from worldly things and onto spiritual. Each chapter has a place to write down your thoughts and scriptures that you want to be able to refer to easily.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book is about finding your Christian home. Myself I will be continuing to read this book throughout my life, as I continue my travels as a Christian . Thank you for the book Kelly Mack McCoy.
The Sojourner’s Road Home - I found this to be a well written, interesting devotional filled with Bible verses and relevant quotes and poetry. I do not recommend the PDF format; it is difficult to use on some readers. Source: BookSprout. 4*

Our sojourn takes us through a troubled land in tumultuous times, but we can find comfort in knowing we are not aimlessly wandering on the road of life. The journey has much more meaning when we realize we are heading home to the welcoming embrace of our loving Father in heaven.
With this as our focus, we can turn away from the troubles on our road and towards a heart-throbbing expectancy because we know we are heading straight for that embrace regardless of how many times we may stumble and fall along the way. And stumble, we will.
Recent events have left many feeling depressed and isolated. Good, hard-working people have lost their livelihoods and homes. Drug and alcohol abuse rates have skyrocketed. Incidents of family and civil strife are on the rise. People live in fear of the future. There is even a name for that – Anticipatory Anxiety.
But what about your local church? Aren’t we supposed to share our burdens with other believers there? Yes. But engagement with a church community is challenging even in the best of times for those of us who spend much of our time on the road.
God is always with us, even when we feel like we are worlds away from everything and everyone we know and love. The Sojourner's Road Home: A 40-Day Journey to the Heart of God is a reminder that no matter where you go or how long you stay away, you always have a place to come back to, even if your earthy home as you knew it is no longer there.
I hope this book will inspire and encourage you on your own journey home. I appreciate your interest in The Sojourner's Road Home. This book was a labor of love, and I’m excited to begin sharing it with the world.
Give new meaning to your sojourn. Travel with intention from this point forward. In so doing, you can find your way back home. Take the 40-Day journey. May your Anticipatory Anxiety be replaced with Anticipatory Joy.
