I really liked this book. There is this famous picture of jvr in his cell at Nuremberg looking all disheveled and erratic, papers everywhere- and I could see that image throughout the entire book as he tries to explain his side of the story. I think he truly believed everything he wrote.

I learned he liked the violin and the intro notes in the end he pulled it together and died with courage. In his final letters to his family at the end I think you can see this rings true.

The guy was a war criminal yes. But there is something very sad reading the words of a guy you know is about to die.
