Rate this book
Electrified by the story of Anne Lister, the outrageous and daring "first modern lesbian" from Yorkshire, Devon leaves everything behind in California to explore a new life in England. Completely unexpectedly, she finds herself opening a bed and breakfast not far from Anne Lister's historic home. Miss Lister's Guest House swiftly becomes a magnet for adventurous women from all over the world. Romance is sure to happen -- for Devon's guests and maybe, just maybe, for herself as well.

Too much telling, not enough showing

Lovely concept and potentially interesting characters, but it read like an outline in spots and did not make me feel as if I were one of the characters or even in the room with them.

Sweet and heartfelt romance between realistic characters

I loved this book! I read a lot of queer romance and so often the characters are young, beautiful, a bit idealized...That can be tons of fun, but I was so moved by the depictions of realistic women in this book. Love, tenderness and connection runs through the whole thing. This book is a balm for the soul.

This is a very cute book with some nice scenes, however the plot moved way too quickly for my tastes, and I feel I barely got to really know any of the characters, and some of them felt randomly generated by a lesbian romance generator. Still I would recommend this to any Gentleman Jack fans!

Just awful ….I only finished it for an online book group. Too many One dimensional characters and a predictable plot with unrealistic dialogue. Yes, it’s hot, throw it into the fire for kindling.
