Hell, Delaware: One Town's History of Horrific Happenings

Rate this book
Go to Hell!

No, really. Head on over to the lovely beaches of Hell, Delaware, where the horrors of our world come to light. Behold our famous wild horses in “In the Shadow of the Equine.” Bask in the sun and experience our many eateries, or enjoy some home cooking like we see in the story “Frog Song.”

We have arcades and mini golf and demons, like those in “Roadkill,” or witches like our delightful host, Nula, as well as some scenic water parks. Our history is rich in mining, with stories dating back to the Old West like “An Unfortunate Night at the Oakwood Theater” and “Rage,” and science like experimentation in genome editing as we see in “Fat Green Rat,” as well as demonology—Lenny and Thomas are sure to delight.

We have it all. All of it! The fire and brimstone and death and decay, bodies strewn across the landscape, blood soaked into our soil, becoming one with the evils of this world. We will kill—

Oops. Sorry about that folks, I’m feeling better now.

Anyway, take your family on a wonderful getaway to the wonderful Hell beaches. It will be the last vacation you ever take. We’ll make you suffer for all eternity.

Kenneth W. Cain

Kenneth W. Cain first got the itch for storytelling during his formative years in the suburbs of Chicago, where he got to listen to his grandfather spin tales by the glow of a barrel fire. But it was a reading of Baba Yaga that grew his desire for dark fiction. Shows like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and One Step Beyond furthered that sense of wonder for the unknown, and he’s been writing ever since.

Cain is the author of The Saga of I trilogy, United States of the Dead, the short story collections These Old Tales and Fresh Cut Tales, and the forthcoming Embers: A Collection of Dark Fiction. Writing, reading, fine art, graphic design, and Cardinals baseball are but a few of his passions. Cain now resides in Chester County, Pennsylvania with his wife and two children.

Kenneth W. Cain never fails to please. These wicked and original tales slapped a big, devilish grin on my face. This one is a helluva read! One particular thing I enjoyed was the being that guides you through these stories. To me, that being was remnant of the Crypt keeper from Tales of the Crypt or even the host Rod Serling from the classic Twilight Zone and Night Gallery show. Reading and experiencing these stories brought back those nostalgic feelings from those shows from back in the day and let me know I was in for a good time. Kenneth W. Cain never lets you down. Hell, Delaware is a collection of some damn fine timeless stories. Crack the spine on this one and experience Hell on Earth one story at a time.
