Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Mannnn sooo far soo good!! My first time ever reading a manga and I must say it turned out really really wellll. Now I’m in it for the long haul guysss so get ready to see more of these reviews 🥰 I loved all the art work from this also 😍 Vol 1= 5⭐️ I loved everything and learning luffy and his life and why he wants to be a pirate Vol 2 = 4.5 ⭐️ it was really good Vol 3 = 4 ⭐️ it was still really good but wasn’t 100% for me. I think that’s just because I didn’t really like the villain or fight or something??? But that doesn’t mean anything because I’m going to keep reading lol.
One piece volumes 1-3 is a lovely book it contains a bunch of action so you are left with very little boredom, I have already read it around 6-7 times. The only thing i don’t like about the volumes is that they leave you at huge cliffhangers, but overall the book is very interesting and is about a boy who wants to be a pirate and become pirate king, but easy a strange fruit which gives him powers, but he loses his ability to swim forever and he goes on a journey to find extraordinary people for his pirate crew. It is worth every dime
Note- the 3 volumes in 1 book is cheaper than just 1 volume in the USA.
Luffy is a guileless child who is enamored with pirates; when he grows up, he sets off to become the Pirate King. Along the way, he meets countless other "bad guys," for whom he has no patience. As expected for a manga about pirates, there is a lot of cartoon violence, with the fighters often naming their moves, and there is also a fair amount of talk about grog/booze. This set of volumes did not have any womanizing, though 3 pirates do underestimate a shipwrecked girl at one point (they just want her treasure). While the publisher says it's for ages 13-18/the young adult audience, but I'm not sure why; seems OK for most kids in grades 6+. The TV shows (anime and live action) are rated 14+
Join Luffy and the Straw Hat pirates on their journey to find the One Piece, a mysterious treasure left behind by the former King of the Pirates, and by finding it, help Luffy become the new King of the Pirates! The current best-selling manga series of all time and world-wide phenomenon is filled with action, adventure, and comedy while also providing insight into a multitude of real-world issues woven seamlessly into the story. VIZ Media, the English publisher for the series, recommends the series for teens and up.
My cousin Glenn can take all the blame. Thought I might read alongside watching the show with him, so here we are! I, a girl who's barely read any full manga, have taken on the behemoth that is One Piece. I'm such a fool 😅
Seems like light-hearted fun thus far! Love a good crew-building premise, excited to see where the growing cast of characters takes us. Oh and I could easily watch the Netflix Live Action once I catch-up enough.
Now I can have more meaningful conversations with my boss and my niece, who are both One Piece fanatics. They will be happy to know that I am enjoying the manga and I will probably continue reading it even though I only need the first part for my school paper. SMH
loved - what is there to say about one piece? its good. duh - i love the characters, the powers, the world, its all so fun - this 3 volume collection leaves a strong cliffhanger! - zoro is zolo in this, and as far as i know he remains as zolo for the rest of the manga. the more you know!
My first manga series and it was so fun! Admittedly, I sometimes didn’t know exactly what was happening in some of the pictures but still kept up with the story. Read it with my son and we both can’t wait to check out the rest. (The extras in this particular version are really fun also!)
Lo leí porque un amigo me lo puso en la mesa y dijo “léelo”. No planeo seguir actualmente con el manga porque me es mucho camino por delante para lo que puedo manejar. Pero comenzó bastante bien!
