My life doesn't feel like my own. My work schedule is hectic. I have next to no social life, let alone any romantic relationship to speak of. That changes when I meet HIM. --♥-- Full Description Coming Soon. --♥-- Worth A Thousand Words is book two in the Lawson Lovers Series. It is a steamy standalone novel with no cliffhanger.
We met Nero, the MMC, briefly in Book 1 of the series. In that book, he was supposedly so drop dead gorgeous that Avery, Heather’s fraternal twin, was momentarily stunned by his looks when she first sees him getting out out of a car and his men were chuckling at the common reaction Nero gets from women. But in this book, there is no such reaction to Nero’s looks although Heather goes on and on about how good looking he is.
The MFC, Heather, is a model and no slouch herself when it comes to her beauty. What threw me about her character development in this book was how she became such a crybaby when dealing with abusive clients in her modeling career. Was this book written before the #MeToo movement? (In the first book of the series Heather is drawn as having a much stronger personality the way she handles/helps out with some of her siblings situations. I didn’t see that part of Heather’s personality as much in this book.) And what person, especially a single woman, in this day and age, makes a point of deliberately not looking someone up on social media to find out more about that person especially when the MMC lied about his surname? It is not a matter of ‘trust’ but personal safety and security even though Heather jokes about hoping that Nero isn’t a serial killer when she invites him to stay with her in her apartment. SMH
Plus, the series, after this book, has now turned into a Mafia Romance series trope which is not my favorite. So this will probably be the last one I read from this series by this author because of that change in direction.
Also, I suggest reading the first book which that predates the Lawson Lovers and tells the story of how the parents of the Lawson siblings got together.
There was an instant attraction between Heather and Nero when they met. He knew he needed to keep his distance because of his past with her soon to be brother in law. But when she seem to be in a bind without a place to stay he offered to share his hotel suite with her. They agreed to a holiday fling but it turned into much more and he knew he could not let her go. But then his world, the one he hoped to hid from her, collided with their bubble of bliss. He would do anything to save Heather, but would he be able to salvage their relationship? This is a story of two people living lives others expect from them, yearning to break loose and go their own way. Being together showed them the possibilities but could they be courageous enough to take a leap of faith, believing in themselves? I received an ARC copy and am leaving a voluntary review.
First to the author, there were so many rudimentary mistakes in the book. Calling Phillip Peter at the wedding. Aunt Chloe was also Aunt Claire… I think at some point there was a mixup between Heather and Caterina’s name. I don’t know how you publish a book without catching those mistakes.
The plots of these books are great. The execution is a bit rocky. The spice is 🌶️🌶️ maybe one or two mildly detailed scenes. But the plot is the book.
Nero is 😍😍 Heather is great but I’m not a huge fan of how the fmc is written.
An accidental meeting between Nero and Heather leads to them spending the remainder of her vacation together. When they return to New York they continue their affair. He hasn't been completely honest about his identity and she didn't tell him the reason she extended to time in St Kitts. They are from very different backgrounds but the attraction is strong. Will they be able to overcome the obsticles in their way or will they drive them apart. Romance intrigue mystery kept me readinng on when I should have been in bed.
The Lawson family is back in book number two. I love that all the characters come back in this continuation and are still involved in the main plot and the foreshadowing for books to come (I counted two, possibly three).
Worth A Thousand Words is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good romance novel with a HAE ending and a billionaire boyfriend story. Highly recommended!
Nero and Heather's (Avery's twin sister) love story. Next in line is Derek, the twins brother. I liked the first book and Loving Lawson, the book about their parents better than this one. I felt that the character development wasn't as good. Maybe I just didn't connect with either of their situations, so I didn't get into it as much. Who knows. But, it was still a fun read.
Lawson Lovers series book 2. Nero and Heather. A fantastic read. All things smexy and dramatic. Angsty as heck with tons twisty WTF. We met these two in the first book. Together these two is chemistry off the charts. Onto the next book. Also Nero's little sister will be a force to be reckoned with.
Nero and Heather kept me glued to the pages of this story. It is a well written story with characters that had me connecting with them as I read their story that is filled with drama. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
I have really enjoyed both books in this series so far and looking forward to Derek’s story. But I’m also really looking forward to Catarina and Declan - this book has set the scene for both.
Mafia romance! Good read and great story. Love the characters and locations. One or two missed edits which make you re-read a bit … annoyingly! But still it’s memorable.
Lots of moving parts, and complications, but that happens when you're honest about who you really are. Love Nero and Heather, seamless transition from vacation fling, to serious relationship. Then things get complicated. We'll done, and easy to read.
Awww loved reading about Heather and Nero they just have a great connection from the outset. Good to hear about Adam and Avery still. Good read and recommended
Super boring. The last quarter of the book was a drag with her staying away for no reason and then just changing her mind because her sister said she was an idiot, or whatever.
