There was some good information in the chapter on the core symptoms of codependence but the rest of the book was a waste of time. Half of the book is dedicated to cataloging horrendous abuse which the author does not link back to codependence. Only one chapter focuses on healing/recovery and it lacks concrete information and actionable steps. I would recommend reading Beyond Codependency by Melody Beattie instead, as it’s more insightful and interesting.
This book is a hard read. It is filled with a lot of helpful information. You will find it applies to many different types of people but share similar experiences of trauma, depression, and anxiety. Well worth taking time to read.
