What if Chinese island building in the Spratlys is just the beginning?

Seven men are dead, their bodies found hanging from trees, slumping next to loaded guns, or sucking on CO2 in garages. Suicides? The FBI doesn’t think so. These men all had a hand in a mysterious think tank report that identified China as the most credible threat to the United States after the fall of the Soviet Union. The FBI quarantines number eight, but not before he passes the report to DOD whistleblower and family man Stuart Strauss.

While the father of four works to figure out if this report is a blueprint for keeping arms dealers rich at the expense of national security, Chinese military forces launch coordinated air and sea strikes in the South and East China Seas. A port explodes in Brunei, taking a U.S. ship with it; Vietnamese planes plummet into the ocean; a torpedo obliterates a Japanese destroyer. Can this all be about claiming a couple of oil-rich island chains? The attorney general is investigating high-ranking U.S. defense officials. The Emperor of Japan is about to make a huge announcement. And what is the Mossad doing in Nevada?

Find out the explosive truth about how disputes in the South China Sea can annihilate the global balance of power in this fact-based thriller.

A complex tale of biological & chemical warfare, oil-mongering, and political one-upmanship.
This is chock full of informational tidbits. We’ve got political entities (CIA, DofD, FBI, KGB, etc.) and war machines (aircraft carriers, destroyers, mines & missiles, remotely-piloted vehicles, submarines, tanks & torpedoes). Readers learn a wee bit about Desert Storm, the Halifax explosion, Merchant Marines, Reagan Star Wars missile defense system, and the Six-day War.
If you enjoy alphabet soup, then this book’s for you.
Intense background information…set aside some time if you tend to journey to Googleland while reading.

Some sage advice from the authors:
Be careful what you put in writing as one never knows who will misinterpret what and when, let alone how the original information will be misused.

Dedication:
‘To all the members of the armed forces. What may seem like the smallest decisions for some may become the largest sacrifice for others.’

I would read more by these authors.

What a ride...

Lucy Leitner does a great job in creating a unique thriller, I was engaged with what was going on. I thought this was a interesting concept in the conspiracy thriller genre. The characters were what I was hoping for and thought they were well written.

An interesting twist on a topic ripped from the headlines. Most other boooks focus on China and the US, but this book includes other Asian countries to make it more realistic.
