Even though Asterios was quite uncertain about the lavish gift he had received from the king, he accepted the responsibility of leading the village of Glimmervale. Things definitely weren't easy in the beginning, but with proper teamwork and help from their friends and relatives, he and the girls managed to fit right in, additionally solving the issues bothering the town and capturing the hearts of people by making sure that everyone felt safe. Now that things are finally calming down, Asterios and his companions can continue their journey and depart into Bryn's realm without any worries...
The vast but majorly unhabitable realm of floating, metal fortresses awaits them with all the challenges hiding in the breathtaking ARKs. Will they be able to easily locate the Descending Spire without spending months on their search? Are they going to tackle its retrieval alone or alongside new allies? Is anyone even going to be willing to aid them on such a dangerous mission? And finally, does it hold any answers to their ever-growing questions?
Since Red had directly instructed them to seek the Spire, they are certainly hoping for the best.
This has succumbed to OP main character power creep.
Every danger and challenge is easily overcome making light of any conflict. Without conflict there is no real consequence. The side characters are obvious and treated like misbehaving children. This makes the story pointless and boring. By the two fifths mark I was skimming the story after taking numerous breaks. The others in the series I read in one go. Even the fight at the end never felt like it had any jeopardy. The balance in this series had fallen apart.
exciting and wonderful, but one detail was gloss’s over
Loved the action and flow of the story in this book overall with all the mystery and bug battles. I also loved the intro of the nine realms. Though feel like with a certain machine concept was related to Earth now and if the team will head there to either find an upgrade the Heart to cover more ground or some other reason to affect the nine realms. However there is one detail either I missed or feel it was not gone into detail due to not wanting go into a bad route with Bryn’s people in Brage so possible spoilers below:
I didn’t like how when the group learned that the Brage Valkyries Council had met other men from other dimensions they did not question what happened to those men and if they were non hostile, were they kept as forced workers for working on their reactor until they died and everyone thought they were irregular Scourage? After all being in survival mode for years changes a people so maybe the scholars had a bit more dark side than others think? Also I dont like how Bryn basically brushes that they basically new about this type of entity to other Ark Councils especially after Rota’s incident considering the impact it had on her because it just showed the Brage council wanted to control the knowledge of their people themselves and not share all important secrets with the other Arks. Sorry if this is little morbid/harsh outlook on the scene, but I at least wanted to point this out.
If this hadn’t been available on Kindle Unlimited I don’t think I would have started this book. The author seems to be concentrating on sex and the ever expanding harem, rather than an interesting story. Also the idea that the Hero is not a womaniser, but just can’t help having women throwing themselves at him has become old and is really annoying.
I managed over a hundred pages, but if anything it was even worse than I expected and I’m afraid I have had give up this series, which is a shame as I thought the first few books were interesting and had a lot of potential.
Just when you've thought you've seen it all (Spoilers)
Ast and his companions have arrived in Bryn's world and find overlapping purposes in claiming the Descending Spire. What awaits our protagonists is a challenge of strength, cunning and surprises. Saileri spins yet another fantastical tale of fantasy and adventure, climaxing in a moment not seen by the valkyries since long ages past. Can't wait for the next volume!
I definitely enjoyed the characters and the development of both plot and underlying arc. That being said there was a TON of exposition and telling instead of showing. I guess it was to ensure pacing but I found myself skipping a lot so as to not lose overall interest. I really just wanted to see how it ended with 25% of the story still left. A shame. Hopefully the next will be smoother.
The story continues on in an interesting and exciting way, with even more cross-realm adventures and new relationships. The conclusion for Volume 7 was satisfying and sets things up nicely for the next part.
During the more intimate chapters there is still a tendency to lean heavily on a few go-to pieces of imagery. The overuse in these case makes the steamy scenes feel more like obstacles to overcome before getting back to the main story.
This book is full of exciting adventure and great accomplishment for the MC and his mates. They start and finish their descent in to the spire with the MC getting full access to his draconian form. There is also an amazing progression with his angel with ties to the last Sky Queen. This entire series is worth buying to keep on hand for when you need a good read.
If you are new to this authors works back up and read them all!!! You definitely don't want to miss some of the best fantasy writing in any genre!!! An amazing adventure and so much new information and questions still needing answers!!!! I can't wait to see what comes next!!!!!
OK, so this was a fun one… Lots and lots of fighting but fun. The worst part about this novel is that she’s not written another one yet and I’m gonna have to wait for the next one. This is a bummer. But I have high hopes that it comes out soon. Can’t wait to see where this rides going.
Ast, with the help of his companions, do their best to reclaim the memories sealed within his mind. To do so they must travel to another realm and fight an unending hoard of monsters to capture a lost Spire that has been infested for centuries.
Y'all if it isn't obvious already this is every boy's dream scenario! Come on! He does it well enough, right? I read the heart scenes to my spouse...who is also my editor I will admit. But she gets it and admits reluctantly that the man ain't wrong...
Hopefully Ast has now rounded out his full harem in this book, we all knew it would come eventually. This book felt longer than other books I have been reading recently, but in a good way. Enjoying the story and the characters.
This adventure kept my attention and I couldn't hardly wait too see what Ast would do next. The fight scenes were outstanding. Waiting for the next book to be out.
Once again I have no issues or errors to point out, as it seems Saileri has refined the writing style to match perfectly with this story. Now I just need to try to remain calm as I wait for the next volume.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
