The Cat, the Rabbits and the Quest for Knowledge: A Tale for Kids and Kids at Heart Who Refuse to Let Go of Magic and Wonder

Rate this book
Once upon a time, a little kitty named Freddy was super excited to start going to school. But after a few weeks, Freddy began to feel bored and decided to stop going. "I can come back whenever I want," he thought. Meanwhile, an old rabbit king needed to choose which of his sons would be the next king. He decided to pick the one who could bring him knowledge. So, Silver and Tawny, the king's eldest sons, started looking for knowledge all over the place. They didn't know what it was or how it looked, but they believed it might be hidden inside the kitty's schoolbag! So, they assembled an army and invaded the school, making a big mess and having a wild party. They found some books and thought they had found the knowledge they were looking for. They decided to bring the books to their dad, the rabbit king. But luckily, Freddy came back to school just in time to save the day! He helped the headmaster to explain what knowledge is: it's not something you can find all at once, like a toy or a field of dandelions. It's like a bottomless treasure chest full of fun and of all sorts of cool things. You have to open it up repeatedly to find all the treasures inside! Not only did Freddy save the school, but he also helped the rabbits set up a library in their warren so all the little bunnies could keep discovering new treasures in the future. And from then on, Freddy and the rabbits all went to school together and had lots of fun learning new things every day.

Angelina Dayan started writing when she was still in high school and quickly became known in local literary circles. Then she went to study in Paris, graduated in economics and marketing, and embraced a business career. Writing became an occasional hobby. She did write a cookbook, though, published by Robert Rose in the USA and Les Editions de l'Homme in Canada. Although she had always wanted only one cat, the events you will discover in this book led her to have 15, not counting permanent or occasional visitors to the garden. So many incredible adventures happened to her cats that it was only natural to put them together in a book. Well, she will tell you the storyteller is not her but her lovely kitty, Freddy @FreddyKitty. Freddy invited his Twitter friends, Maggie (Andrea Shepheard) and Munch (Helen Nicholson), to participate in his book, and they kindly accepted.

Andrea Shepheard, the author of the story "Sweet Maggie is Left Behind," lives in Norfolk, England. She loves all animals and especially spends time with her lovely kitty, Maggie @Andy18512371.

Helen Nicholson, the author of the story "Munch Goes Missing", loves animals, especially cats, and of course, her extra special cat Munch @MunchPudding. She also loves to travel and see parts of the world she hasn't seen before, experiencing new cultures and meeting people. Her favourite country is Greece as there are so many cats, the weather is great, and the people are super friendly. Being on Cats of Twitter has helped bring her passions of travelling and meeting new people with cats together, and she has made some lovely friends along the way. Helen lives close to Manchester, England.

Princess Fuzzypants here: I love cabbits or cats and rabbits. I love books and learning things. I should have loved this book. It was okay but I was a bit disappointed in it. The story did not seem to flow. We started with a kitten who cannot wait to go to school and then becomes bored and then two rabbit princes raid the school in search for Knowledge- without having a clue as to what it was. There was some good opportunity for the story but it just never jived for me.

The artwork using real animal pictures was cute but it did not compensate for a disjointed story with a confusing message. Three purrs and one paw up.

I want to thank Angelina Dayan, author and Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for eBook Kindle copy of The Cat, the Rabbits & the Quest for Knowledge: A Tale for Kids 7 Kids at Heart Who Refuse to let Go of Magic & Wonder ~ Cat Stories from Freddy's Garden that I won in the Giveaway.

The title is interesting , the illustrations are cute and the story is full of imagination. The animals all get along and learnt to work together. This is a chapter book with several chapters for young readers and has age appropriate words to make it a good choice for the age group in the early elementary grades.

Confusing - The Cat, the rabbits and the quest for knowledge

Read February 2024
I won this book in a Goodreads contest. This is a children's book that is approximately 59 pages and can't be read by a young child. The story line is for children but the vocabulary used- words like capricious, frenetic, reinforcements, tremendously, bewildered, premonitory, hilarious, vigorously, disbelieving, cryptic, gourmand is not. I think this book has taken the quest for knowledge too far for its targeted audience. Frustrating for both adult and child. I do not recommend.

A beautiful book, full of wit and good humor, useful for reminding young people of the importance of knowledge and attendance at school.

Angelina Daian's language is simple, luminous and poetic. A real pleasure!
