Time of Death is book one in the thrilling new series by bestselling author Audrey Walker, sure to pull the reader in and never let them go. Fans of Kendra Elliott, Tess Gerritsen, J.T. Ellison, and Patricia Cornwell will obsess over this series.
Audrey Walker is a young and rising international best-selling Author in the Mystery & Suspense niche.
Walker's books are fast-paced, nail-biting pageturners with twists you won't see coming.
Walker lives currently in south Germany with her husband and a newly born daughter. When she is not writing or reading, you will find her climbing up the Alps in Switzerland and walking aroung the Black Forest in south of Germany.
This book was an excellent and intriguing story. Giselle was performing an autopsy on a young woman, who appeared to be the third victim of a serial killer. This is the catalyst which begins an unexpected journey into danger for her. The storyline, combined with the characters results in an exciting story. Giselle is a complex woman, who is strong and has an enquiring mind.
Really a great story. This one tops all of Audrey Walker's other books. A great plot, surprises, likeable characters and some the reader likes to hate. The forensics is well done too. I believe Giselle is a forensic pathologist. I received an ARC copy for an honest review. I highly recommend this one!!!
Dr. Giselle Norwood gets more involvement than she'd planned when she is called to the murder scene of a beautiful young woman who works with a high-powered US senator in Washington DC. The young woman was supposedly murdered by a serial killer. The thing is that the murder looks staged, and Giselle does not believe it is the work of the serial killer. When FBI agent Andre Winters, a specialist in serial killers, is assigned to work with Giselle, they find that they work well together. When the real serial killer calls Giselle to inform her that that particular killing was not his work, Giselle and Andre find themselves with a third partner in solving the crime, whether they want his help or not. As things go from bad to worse, Giselle finds herself on the killer's hit list. I really liked this book, and I'm glad that it is just the first book in the series. I liked Giselle and Andre. Normally, I would not start reading a book that had a romance to spoil my "enjoyment" of the murder(s). The saving grace is that Giselle and Andre are adults - they don't rely on sexual innuendo, cheesy dialogue, heaving bosoms, and all that claptrap. They like each other, they find the same things funny and share a lot of laughter. They're both smart and very good at what they do, and in a city where you can't spit without hitting a slick politician, they don't play that game. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Time of Death is Book 1 of a new series from Audrey Walker. Doctor Giselle Norwood is a forensics Medical Examiner and her backup Medical Examiner's investigator is Hank McGregor. I really like Hank because he reminds me of Anthony, Erin Reagan's Assistant on the series Blue Bloods. There is also FBI investigator Andre Winters from Quantico in Langley, described as a dark-skinned man with a sense of humor. Even though Hank seems to utterly mistrust Winters, Winters likes the old guy. Winters is a specialist in serial killers. Giselle is convinced that the murder of a young woman is not by the same killer of the two previous elderly women. She thinks it's a copycat killer, and she gets corroboration when the actual serial killer calls her and claims he didn't kill the young woman. He also tells Giselle he didn't kill a British Agent and a second young woman in a Senator's office. So, Giselle, Andre, and Hank set out to find both the serial killer and the assassin killer. The problem is this: the serial killer saves Giselle several times from the assassins. And you probably won't be surprised who hires these guys to keep Giselle's Norwood quiet. I gave this book a 5 star rating and look forward to this author's next book.
I received a copy via BookFunnel and this is my voluntary honest review.
WOW! I have read all of Audrey Walkers series but this new one is even more amazing. We are given characters that you really like. Our main character is Giselle Norwood, a forensic pathologist who is married to her job, especially since she is on the trail of a serial killer. Assisting her is her Medical Examiner's investigator, Hank McGregor who has her back and is her protector as well, and we have an FBI investigator, Andre Winters who has been tracking the serial killer as well and joins up with Giselle to find the killer. The serial killer was dubbed the Goodnight Strangler who has a very specific MO. When another body shows up with a similar MO, and is attached to the senator's office, she pays particular attention and feels it is different from the Goodnight Strangler. So much fast paced action that take you from the states to the Cayman Islands will keep you turning pages. AND a very unusual person contacts Giselle undercover to give her clues to this imitation murderer which gets her, Andre and Hank deeply involved in so many things that Hank ends up in the hospital badly wounded and Giselle has to hide with Andre. But she will never give up and because of Hank she is more incited to find the killer. What an explosive book! What an explosive ending! I can't see where the author takes us next. This is a powerful first book in a must read thriller! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This novel introduces Washington D.C. forensic pathologist Giselle Norwood. She is a solitary, fiesty widow dedicated to her job and craft. Ms. Walker has filled this book full of mystery, action, and thrills throughout. The characters, including her ME investigator, Hank McGregor, FBI Special Agent Andre Winters, and a host of other well-drawn personalities, grab the reader from the start and continue to do so until the very end. The well-done venues, from Washington D.C. to the Cayman Islands, put one in a richly developed world of intrigue that will keep readers unable to put this book down. I highly recommend Time of Death to readers of mysteries as well as those preferring action and adventure. It has something for everyone. I do not believe in reiterating storylines as I feel it steals from other readers' enjoyment, but read it. You'll enjoy it! I received an ARC, and this is my honest appraisal of this novel.
I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
In the story, Audrey Walker, begins a new series that is not like her others. In this story, Giselle a medical examiner, is involved in discovery what happened regarding the murder of someone who worked in a Senator's office. All signs point to this being associated with a serial killer. To Help find the killer, Andre an FBI agent has been assigned. As Giselle begins looking into it, she is not convinced that the serial killer is responsible. In her quest she receives help from an unexpected party.
To discover what this killing and an earlier one was about, who was the killer and who the person was that supported Giselle with information, then you need to read this book.
The book is well done and it looks as if this series will be a definite winner like her others. The ending is well done and answers all open questions.
I’m not going to write a long review on this new series. It would spoil the experience I love all the books Audrey Walker has written but this is to a new level of excellence. Giselle Wood is a Medical examiner. Top of her game. A serial killer who had killed all over the country had come to District of Columbia. 3 deaths so far unfortunately what other examiners probably would miss she doesn’t and questions the 3rd being by the same person. The FBI send Audre Winter to help with the case. The city is on edge with so many murders happening so close together. Then she gets a call from the supposed serial killer. Calls himself Virgil. Who says e did the first 2 but the last one is not his work offers to help her find that killer. You won’t want to put it down do make sure to set aside time to devour this book. Giselle and Andre will out their lives on the line to try and find the killer I received an arc copy plus own this book. This is a honest review
What a rollercoaster ride! This book contains suspense, intrigue and many surprises. Medical Examiner of Washington, D. C., Dr. Giselle Norwood, receives the body of an aide to U. S. Senator, Lloyd Blackburn. She was strangled to death and was thought to be a victim of the so called Goodnight Killer. Two other women in the area are victims of a serial killer, but their modes of death are different from that of Senator Blackburn's aide. Before all is said and done, more people are murdered. Special Agent, Andre Winters of the FBI, assists Dr. Norwood in her investigation. Who killed the woman and why? Is her death related to the deaths of the other women? Who is the mystery man calling Dr. Norwood and offering clues about the woman's death? Find out by reading this unputdownable thriller. I highly recommend it to other thriller readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.
Time Of Death lifts Audrey Walker into the very top tier of contemporary crime writers. It is a stunning thriller. This is the work of a young author, coming of age, realising her literary aspirations. The plot is intense, intricate and totally engaging. The characters are drawn with razor-sharp precision. This is a cracking thriller, tackled with unabashed enthusiasm. The concept spans countries and continents, and there is a moral complexity throughout. This is more than a psychological thriller or a police procedural, it is full of disturbing realism, and has an uncanny relevance to world events today. I love Giselle and Andre and their playful banter. Hank is also an endearing character but in my opinion it is Virgil who steals the limelight in this outstanding novel.
Dr. Giselle Norwood gets a phone call from a unknown number and it turned out to be Frank Weber from the Mayor's officer. He was calling about a third victim being found in the same way as the two victims. The latest victim was Evelyn Tate a young attorney and aide to Senator Lloyd found with the signature bouquet of daisies fastened with a red ribbon. A special Agent Andre Winters from Quantico was assigned to the case . But Giselle had her own investigation working with her a Hank MacGregor . Andre and Giselle have a romantic relationship going even though there are risks involved. This is a chilling read with a nail biting finish. I received this book free and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
I thought Audrey did a fantastic job with this book. When Giselle has to investigate, as a pathologist, to come upon things she needs to look into further as well as for hire out. The Goodnight Stranger is doing with what he does but there’s something that’s not right. What could that be ? Will Giselle know or figure it out? Would you be willing to take tips from someone you KNOW didn’t do it in your heart ? But does the heart matter in this instance?? Runaround’s and betrayals are two main reasons for someone’s death…Audrey is gettin better n better as a writer.
I received this as an ARC and this is my honest n voluntary review.
Time of Death: A Medical Thriller (Giselle Norwood Series Book 1) is my twenty-sixth read from author Audrey Walker. Outstanding, a great page-turning thriller. A well-written, entertaining read with well-developed, memorable characters. Maybe her best book I've read of hers. Strongly reminiscent of the writing of David Baldacci. An exciting, enjoyable read. I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I can’t wait to read the next book. The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
A serial killer takes umbrage at a copycat killing. He decides to assist the beautiful medical examiner and her dashing FBI agent live interest. This will open the door to a vicious international conspiracy.
This book is more about the budding attraction between the me and agent. The serial killer is probably the most interesting character although he does not check off all the usual serial killer boxes. Giselle seems incredibly naive and the villains are cardboard. Wasn't t a terrible read but I prefer more focus on crime than romance.
This book is a must read. I couldn’t put it down. It’s set in DC with the usual politics but do much more. Dr. Norwood is the Chief Medical Officer for DC. She is smart, capable, professional, persistent and is curious which serves her well! This book has nonstop action, drama, mystery, thrills and just the right amount of twists and turns and even international intrigue! This book has it all. One of the best books I’ve read in awhile! I can’t recommend this book highly enough! It is also an excellent start to a new series! I can’t wait to start the next book in the series.
Dr Giselle Norwood is a medical examiner in Washington D.C. Two murders with the same method of death. A third murder made to look like the first two. A serial killer calls Giselle and admits to the first two murders, but not the third. He offers to help find the killer of the third. FBI agent Andre Winters is assigned to the case. When they get too close, a US Senator complains, and Dr Norwood is told to take a leave of absence. A well written page turning thriller.
Evelyn Tate is murdered. She is the third victim. When Giselle examines the corpse she finds that there is a difference in the method of murder in Evelyn's case. An anonymous caller informs Giselle that he has murdered the first two victims but not the third. Giselle is partnered with FBI Agent Andre to find the killer. Their investigation leads them into murky waters and a conspiracy. An edge of the seat thriller with nail biting suspense and plenty of twists.
Time of Death is a thriller story about a serial killer who taunts Washington DC forensic doctor Giselle Norwood who is passionate about her job. She also has a friend Hank, a retired police officer, and Andre Winters from the FBI. When several killings seem to have the same MO, the investigation begins. The characters were well written and the plot had many twists and turns. You cannot go wrong with this medical thriller and I highly recommend reading the book.
Enjoyed reading this book immensely. Lots of intrigue. I like the characters of FBI Special Agent Andre Winters and Medical Examiner Giselle Norwood. They team up to solve 3 murders that are believed to be committed by a serial killer, but Dr. Norwood soon discovers that the third is a copycat. She gets a phone call from the killer of the first two women denouncing the third one. A must read!
When medical examiner, Giselle Norwood uncovers evidence in a murder investigation that threatens powerful people within the Washington political system, her own life is in more danger than she realises.
The characters and plot gripped me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. I hope this turns into a long-running series. It's well-written too.
Definitely one of the very best books I've read in the last couple of years.
While the ending was in sight just before the last chapter, it was definitely a great roller coaster ride! One of those books you pick up and must finish in a single sitting, no matter how late the hour! The only annoying tidbits are all the little scraps dropped about Dr.Norwood’s former husband- just tell us already. I look forward to the next in the series.
This was a story that will drag you in and keep you on the edge of your seat! You have a medical examiner and her assistant along with the FBI when a serial killer comes after her! This is a must read thriller with a involved storyline and characters! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Time of Death features Audrey Walker’s newest character, Dr. Giselle Norwood. She’s a brilliant and beautiful Washington, DC Medical Examiner who gets chosen to work with an FBI agent on a big-time serial murder case. When my flight was canceled and I was stranded at the Las Vegas airport for 9 hours, I started reading. I kept reading off and on all day until I finally got home at midnight. I finished today, my third sit-down session. Other than the main killer working with Giselle to help solve copycat crimes, this fairly straightforward mystery reminds me of the best CSI shows with a bit of James Bond style intrigue. I’m looking forward to seeing more from Giselle Norwood!
This is easily the best book I have read in a long time. Every page has you gripped, and you won't want to put it down. I find this book to be a winner in every category. The storyline is exceptional, and the characters are well worthy of a TV cast. I recommend you read this book now, don't wait. I received this arc for free and I wanted to leave an honest review.
From the beginning, the twists and unexpected complications followed by more twists...I was hooked. Thrilling medical examiner story with an intelligent, take no prisoners strong woman with compassion. This was a complex story and had dry humor as well. I'm looking forward to book 2 :)
This book is one of the best books I have read in a long time! I being reading cozy mystery stories for the best part of two years! W adore cozy mystery stories but there is not a better book than this one! I have bread quite a lot of of thriller books over the years as well! This series is a wonderful reading experience! I highly recommend it!!
This was a very good book of cat and mice chasing each other. It almost made you feel sorry for the serial killer. The main characters seemed liked old friends. I can’t wait for the next book later in September. One word of disapproval was stop taking God’s name in vain or I’ll be an ex reader. That’s why this book only got 4 stars instead of 5.
I loved this book! I am sure I will love the series. The author has given readers a well written book filled with suspense and some action. The characters are all flawed individuals which only serves to make them more likable. I have read several books by this author and she is consistently excellent.
A nice story that almost seems to be a homage to the Bones series. That doesn't make it any less of a good storyline. The main characters are well defined, and their repartee is nice done. Audrey spills the beans early, but it seems like that was intentional as the 'who done it' isn't the main theme of the story.
So, a new series from a very good crime writer. And it’s a little cracker. I started to read and found I was completely and utterly engrossed, could not put it down. This is boding well for the rest of the series for sure, cannot wait. Highly recommended.
