Rate this book
About the Book

They say that if you really don’t like someone, you should encourage them to open a restaurant. In this tell-all book, first time Bombay restaurateurs Gauri Devidayal and Jay Yousuf spill the beans about running one of the city’s most loved dining establishments. From overcoming failed relationships to surviving a global pandemic, from literally dousing a fire in the kitchen to keeping their cool when an air conditioner came crashing down on a guest, this is one sexy smorgasbord for anyone hungry for an insider’s take on the F&B business. Moreover, Diamonds for Breakfast is also a multi-starrer featuring rockstars and Bollywood producers, socialites and politicians, gangsters and priests, freaks and geeks. Don’t take it with a pinch of salt. It’s all real.

About the Authors

GAURI DEVIDAYAL, an accidental co-founder of the Food Matters Group, unwittingly set herself up to run a thriving restaurant business; while being a qualified Chartered Accountant from the University College London. Besides that, she also runs a podcast called ‘This Round Is On Me’.

A graduate of Bard College, VISHWAS has been writing Bombay stories for over two decades. As a features writer at Mumbai Mirror, he discovered the world’s first nudist colony in British India; at Yahoo! India, he profiled a rickshaw driver who invented a genre of tinny pop music known as ‘dhinchak’; in Mid Day he uncovered one art scam after another! Vishwas had also written a 10-episode web series for Lionsgate Studios and held senior editorial roles with top publications in Bangkok and Dubai.

Good insight into the tough rough world of FNB

Heard about this book on a popular podcast and really wanted to read it. The subject matter is very good and interesting though I felt the pacing by the author needed to be more tightly knit and insertion of song titles needed to be less obvious and seamless.

I have reviewed it 5 stars cuz despite its minor faults i like the book and would love a more in-depth part 2
