The body hung from rusted shackles, a lifeless bag of flesh and bone. The final act of death appalled him. That was why he needed her.
Forensic Psychologist Dr Chrissy Ferguson staggers out of Jock’s Bar, her equilibrium lost in a bottle of whisky. Intoxication was her escape from the reality of her mother’s death and the violent dreams that never let her rest.
As Chrissy’s night-time visions intensify, she flees to the remote Highland village on the edge of Loch Rannoch – the place that stole her past – seeking closure. Instead, she finds the mutilated body of a missing local woman drained of blood and discarded like trash – a woman she has seen before.
DCI Ross Fraser, the detective leading the case, links the woman’s death to chilling cold cases spanning decades, unsolved murders where young women were viciously slain. As Chrissy sees the images of past victims, long-buried memories began to surface, and secrets from her past collide with the present.
But what does Chrissy know? And can she trust DCI Ross Fraser before someone else dies?
Thrilling, unpredictable, and utterly compelling, The Killing Shed is a dark and immersive mystery that will haunt you long after you turn the last page. Perfect for fans of LJ Ross, Rachel McLean, JD Kirk and Angela Marsons, you won’t want to miss this unforgettable start to a new crime series.
I had to DNF this one. I couldn't get last the writing style to enjoy the story, which in itself was tough to stay interested in. Extremely slow-paced for a thriller. I felt like I was reading someone's weird diary rather than a book. And not in a good way.
Just finished The Killing Shed and about to start Cargill’s Leap. If the second book is anything like the first, I won’t be putting it down till I’m finished it. It is very well written and had me captivated till the end…….which I got wrong twice. Looking forward to reading more books from this exciting new author.
I stepped out of my comfort zone and into the Scottish Highlands with The Killing Shed, the first Chrissy Ferguson Mystery. This gripping tale follows Dr. Chrissy Ferguson as she confronts her dark past and becomes entangled in a murder investigation. Alongside DCI Ross Fraser, Chrissy navigates the treacherous landscape of her hometown, Kinloch Rannoch. With its complex web of secrets and surprising twists, this book had me holding on tight. The author artfully weaves together the threads of Chrissy's past and the murder mystery, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I will definitely be checking out the next book 🤓
I hesitated to read this. I thought it was going to be another "psychic heroine saves the day book." It was much more compelling than that, although I suspected the killer's identity early on. I thr changed my mind and thought it couldn't possibly be him. Good read.
Easy to read. A relaxed writing style. A few plot points that didn’t quite make sense and seemed to be rectified as an afterthought: Ross baking yet living in a hotel whilst deployed to solve the crime, only to find he’d been allowed to use the barmaids kitchen 🤷🏼♀️ Slow to get going, some questionable twists in the tale which went from sublime to ridiculous but enjoyable nonetheless!

Exceptionally well written book. I like the characters in this well crafted story. There’s new twists and turns introduced throughout the book that keeps you involved and interested throughout the book. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author soon.
Excellent writing! This book kept me on my toes with the twists and turns. It kept me interested from cover to cover. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out who the bad guy is, but this time I got fooled. I'm just starting the next book now.
The idea of having to relive your traumatic experiences to move forward somehow seems to be harder for Chrissy especially since she doesn’t know all the details. Good read page turner.
What an entertaining read. I would highly recommend to anyone who likes a murder/mystery. I found it to be a page-turner. Chrissy, the main character, is full of flaws which makes her appealing. She is far from perfect ! Looking forward to the next book.
Excellent read, it was so gripping and kept you guessing right to the end! Totally unexpected surprises in the plot, great characters! Highly recommend...on to next in the series x
I have to say this was well written.. all kinds of twists and turns. When you think you have it figured out boom.. a great twist to it right in the right place.
First time reading from this author, the ad for this book kept coming on my Facebook page. I was not disappointed and got a shock to find out who the killer was.
