Chef Luca Alessi’s life is barely recognizable these days. He used to spend his days in the kitchen creating cutting-edge cuisine. Now he’s trying to keep his family's restaurant and legacy alive. It doesn't help that his father was keeping secrets before he passed. On the relationship front, his ex, Colin, assured him that their divorce would be simple. And now? Not so much. So who could blame Luca for wanting to avoid any entanglements? He's not ashamed to hire someone for a couple hours of fun. But this new guy is hard to keep at arm's length.
When life lands Ellis Day on the streets—again—he’s not about to wallow in self-pity. He's done it before, he can do it again. And if that involves selling something he previously considered unsellable, then that's just what he'll do. He’s not all that experienced working in the sex industry, but it should be easy enough. Get in, get paid, get out. But then there's Luca. And suddenly the rules don't apply.
When Luca discovers Ellis's living situation, things get more complicated still. Luca offers him a job and a place to live. Of course, their new arrangement means nothing else can happen between them—at least in Luca’s eyes. He’s determined to be a friend to Ellis…to give him everything he needs. Ellis is determined to show him that the only thing he needs is Luca.

It seems that this will be one of those books that everyone loves but me. To be honest, it didn't feel right from page one and it didn't get better for me by the end of the sample, so it's my fault for deciding to continue in hope I'd still like it eventually.
I think it's just a combination of little things that didn't work for me.
I honestly found this to be incredibly underwhelming. I just expected something different. I expected heated passion, emotional depth, an all-consuming love and an intense story, but I ended up getting none of that. Instead, this was a rather simple love story that I didn’t really have a lot of feelings towards.
I want to start out by saying I positively adored the premise of this book; I really like the hurt/comfort trope and I also enjoy the sex worker/client dynamic. Something felt off about it though, and I blame Luca for that. Ellis was fine, but Luca just didn’t do it for me. I got pretty annoyed with his wishy-washy attitude, and it also frustrated me that he kept holding Ellis off for no reason at all. Especially since he kept acting like they were in a relationship, anyway? So, he was just playing martyr without really making any of the sacrifices. It was silly. And it was disappointing, since he started out much better; he was absolutely obsessed with Ellis from the get-go, and I adored seeing the way he wanted more and more of him. But then, it seemed like a switch flipped and he just became... off. I didn’t like it. And I especially didn’t like how Ellis had to fight for their relationship, while Luca refused to do so. Like, sir, Ellis is the one who should have trust and commitment issues, YOU need to get a grip.
Also, I didn’t appreciate the way this book was written. It glossed over many conversations and situations, which meant it was all very much tell, not show. The writing also didn’t have much depth to it, and it felt very simple, stale and superficial. Especially considering the heavy content and themes of this book, I was hoping for more with regards to the emotional aspect. I actually ended up getting a little bored because of the lack of depth the further the book went. It also became super repetitive to me.
Lastly, I truly did not like the ending. I legitimately hated the fact that Ellis randomly got a lot of money from his horrid grandfather. It felt like such a cheap cop-out, especially considering all the horrors Ellis had to go through due to his lack of money and support previously. It just felt weird that when he was finally getting back on his feet ON HIS OWN, the author decided to make his happily ever after dependent on his horrible rich family. Not only was it unrealistic, but it also ruined the power that could be drawn from the story otherwise. It went from a story about an unfortunate guy finding a healthy and happy life by fighting for it himself, to a story about a guy who randomly got saved by money that fell out of the sky. Such a shame.
In any case, I didn’t hate this book because I actually enjoyed the beginning and I also thought there were a few cute moments. Nonetheless, I had quite a lot of complaints, and in general, I thought it was just a waste of potential.
RECOMMENDATION: If you want to read a story similar to this, I would recommend you check out Home by Cara Dee. It has the same premise, but that one was actually really good and was pretty much exactly what I wanted this book to be.
I knew I would love this because SE Harmon, I just didn’t know how much .I simply INHALED this book , I couldn’t put it down. So happy that the Universe listened to me asking for more SE Harmon books and made it happen!!!! I always loved rent boy/client books but this one was something else, it was so special, so well done . Ellis is 24 and homeless. His life up until that point had been a series of tragedies and adversities and the last one landed him on the streets. It’s hard to witness his struggle and honestly I cried in some places. His last resort is to take on some of his friend’s johns (regular clients) even though he’s really bad at this whole hustler thing -he’s snarky and he hasn’t got a submissive bone in his body . And that’s how he meets Luca (38) - I’ll never understand why someone like Luca needed the services of a prostitute, his reason is very thin but hey, suspended disbelief and all that . Luca is absolutely amazing and I fell in love with him from his first line. Ellis’s snark and his brusque and curt responses intrigued him (and scared a bit 🤣) but he soldiered on and he cracked Ellis’s shell with every little kind gesture he did. And from that moment they are amazing together. It’s not insta love but at the same time you don’t feel that all that they have is sex. Actually, for a prostitute/client trope book sex is the last thing you’d mention about this book. They have such a connection, they’re simply meant to be. Luca is constantly worried about Ellis, constantly asking himself if he can do more if he’s being fair to him, always careful not to take advantage of him. He’s such a protector and nurturer. They became an item without you even realizing. There were no questions of “What are we?” Or “What is this?” , Ellis didn’t play the martyr “Oh, you can’t possibly love me, I’m homeless and poor and you’re way better without me!” He wants Luca, he gets Luca. He fights to be Luca’s equal-he goes to school and works his ass off (metaphorically, take your mind out of the gutter 🤣) . There is no issue here because Ellis is a hustler, there is no slut shaming or sex-work shaming or poor shaming or any kind of shaming. Luca’s family and friends didn’t care how they met and Luca didn’t clutch his pearls that Ellis was seeing other clients while seeing him too. He wanted something better for Ellis though and so he gave him a job and he stopped sleeping with him because he was his boss and Ellis was in a vulnerable position. I loved them so much. I won’t put quotes here because there are so many good ones I couldn’t possibly choose, so just read the book. It’s worth it. I loved everything about this book, the smart witty humor and banter is absolutely delicious, the romance is warm (and sometimes 🔥🔥) , the characters are amazing and the side characters are a good bunch too. The title of the book is sad and hilarious at the same time- I did find it weird that the author chose to also put Ellis’s last name’s initial but the mystery is solved in the book 🤐 If I had to mention a small little thing that bugged me is that in the second part of the book the humor became a bit forced and childish. It was more of a rom-com and I preferred the slightly sober tone of the first part of the book. I can’t wait the next book and I really hope is Jamie and Hayden.
Huh! Do you know that feeling, when you finish a book and you don’t really have anything to say about it —whether you liked it or not?
I didn’t love but liked the first half of the book a lot. After that, tho, it somehow went downhill for me. I felt detached from Luca and Ellis and I watched myself become more and more uninterested in the outcome of their story. I was very excited for this book but in the end it fell surprisingly flat for me.
But before I go, I have a question: What the freaking heck was the purpose of Colin’s character (Luca’s ex-husband) in this story? At which point was he important enough to the events that he was invented at all? I don’t get it.
I think my worry with reading a book where one person is a sex worker and the other is the client is that the relationship will feel unbalanced or have unequal power dynamics but I didn’t feel that with this book at all. And Luca wasn’t just some perfect savior who saved the day. It actually was a really touching story.
I loved the epilogue it was perfect. And now I demand a book for Jamie!
4.5 🌟This was so good. A true feel good story. I adored both Ellis and Luca.
The beginning is rough, but the humour and banter lighten it and prevent it from being too heavy. And then it‘s your classic rent boy meets wonderful caring client who helps him get back on his feet.
And even though it’s nothing new, it had me wanting more more more. One more chapter. Just a few more pages. Late into the night and early in the morning. I just couldn’t get enough.
The ending was a little too predictable and smooth sailing, but I had a huge smile and my face and just swooned my way through the whole thing.
please tell me i’m not the only one who read it as “addicted to Ellis’s D.” i mean, the double entendres are endless for any mind conveniently in the gutter 🤣
⭐︎4.75 "I'm Addicted to Ellis D Too" Stars Rounded Up!⭐︎
Oh, I adored this.
It pulls you in right away with Ellis having a really, really hard go of things. He just got fired from his latest job - which didn't pay much to begin with - and his roommate and friend, Jamie, is a sex worker who is moving to Philly to be kind of a "kept boy" as it were for a john, who Ellis rightfully doesn't like.
The guy offered to take both of them, but for Ellis personally, he hates sex work. It's not for him. But he's done it in the past to survive, and he just might have to do it again...
When Jamie leaves, that means Ellis is out on the streets, as he can't afford the rent of the apartment Jamie is living in. He starts out in a motel, but when a john gets violent, he has to leave immediately in order to be safe.
It seems that things get worse from there for him. He ends up living in his car. He's officially homeless, and has to get by with washing in a gas station bathroom or getting a shower once a week at a bus shelter.
The one highlight of his life, is Luca, one of the very few johns Jamie left him with he actually likes. There's two others that are fine. But Luca isn't just fine. Quickly, Ellis begins to really like, and lets be real here, fall, for Luca.
Luca, in turn is getting heavily attached and falling for Ellis as well.
Luca is a 38 year old chef who has had a tough go of things lately. His beloved father, Stefano, recently died in a car crash.
What's worse, things are stressful for Luca as he tries to keep the restaurant afloat because of a mess his father left behind. Which include gambling debts to unsavory loan sharks which Luca has been paying off for the past 3 years.
And he's been keeping this particular part of the stressful pie to himself for the past 3 years on top of that. His friends and coworkers at the restaurant don't know. His family doesn't know. He's taking it all on by himself.
The one thing for himself he allows is paying for sex. Ever since his divorce from Colin, he isn't in the mood for having to make any connection and just wants sex for sex's sake. So he's been paying for it.
He had been a regular with Jamie, but with him gone, in steps Ellis. Who is nothing like Jamie, and that attracts Luca to him. Ellis is outspoken and upfront and he doesn't pretend just because it's his job. Luca likes that.
What starts out as sex quickly becomes more between the two. Luca doesn't know the full picture with Ellis' situation, but he knows he has a it rough, so he hires him on at the restaurant a few months into their arrangement.
Ellis, who has since lost his car since it was impounded, and recently got mugged - of all the money he'd been saving up to rent an apartment too - doesn't have much fight in him to say no.
Of course, Luca feels that continuing anything with Ellis would be taking advantage and that Ellis needs a friend more than some guy who wants to bone him - which, of course Luca does, but he's a good guy, and he doesn't want to take advantage.
Especially when it comes to light that Ellis isn't just struggling, he's homeless, and so Luca offers to have him stay at his place.
Ellis, who is as into Luca as Luca is into him, wants to be more. Ellis, for all that he's been through, is wonderfully open to more with Luca. He doesn't push at first, as he fears Luca doesn't want him anymore when Luca puts a stop to their sexual encounters.
But Luca still wants him, even more as time goes by and they get to know each other more. He just has some worries and hang ups they need to dive past. Like their age difference - about 14 years - and all he's doing for him and not wanting to take advantage, etc etc.
I liked that it wasn't Ellis who was the one holding them back. I feel like usually it would be, after all he's been through. But Ellis is a smitten kitten and wants to continue to be and he's determined to get his man.
And Luca, for all he's trying to put a stop to it, can't resist him for long, and it's wonderful.
I did give a tiny .25 off just because I wanted a little more on the steam end. What we got was great, but I wanted more. We got a great first time of Luca bottoming, but I wanted Ellis' first time bottoming too, which we didn't get. We just get a line close to the end with Luca being all "we like to switch it up from time to time, although I mostly bottom" and it's like...wait, when did you start switching it up? I wanted to see that *hmph*
The one scene we got of Ellis bottoming was good, although we didn't get to see the finish and it wasn't as detailed as I would have liked.
Just me being greedy, really, but I can't help it. Give me all the steam! Especially if they're verse, mmkay? I want to see both haha.
But anyway, I digress.
Aside from that very small niggle, I adored this, it is *definitely* worth a read.
I highly recommend! Two massive thumbs up from me! 😍
I wanted to love this book so bad, but there was a whole lot of something missing from it. From the very beginning, the story felt off kilter to me and I never felt like it found its balance or decided exactly what it wanted to be. It mostly felt rushed and messy. Important getting-to-know-you conversations took place off page. There were some side stories that didn't add anything and felt more like filler or a set up for future books. The sex worker thing was neither here nor there and didn't last long enough to matter outside of being means of a meet-cute. I liked Ellis. Luca was okay. I was cool with them getting together, though I didn't care much either way. Their banter was cute and funny at times. It just never felt like a love story.
That being said, if there's a future book about Jamie or Hayden or Jamie AND Hayden, I'm still totally in. This one just didn't work for me.
I usually love this author but I felt really fucking sad and disconnected the whole time I was reading this. I also don’t tend to enjoy books about sex workers, but was willing to give this a try considering how much I enjoy this author.
I believe sex work is work, I believe it should be legal and that sex workers deserve protections, health benefits, respect etc. What I can’t stand is the systems that force people into “choosing” to do sex work when they don’t want too. I’m so fucking depressed after the little bit of this I read. Especially in the current economic/cost of living crisis. I feel so sad.
It appears I have quite a weakness for the homeless sex worker storyline. I’ve loved other books with this and wanted to jump into this one as soon as I saw the premise. I think I’m especially attracted to the hurt/comfort aspect with the grittiness of someone living on the street and I love it when the HEA is really well earned.
I love SE Harmon’s writing and this didn’t disappoint, I pretty much devoured this in a day and loved it. The story was really lovely, the MC’s were great and none of the side characters annoyed me. In fact I’m really keen for a story between Hayden and Jamie. The pacing felt nicely realistic and I loved how Luca wasn’t just some super perfect saviour but has his own normal person issues. I really like how this authors writing isn’t overly mushy or super sweet, sometimes the humour doesn’t sit right for me but I didn’t notice it after a while. The approach to the sex work felt realistic, I liked how things didn’t seem too sugar coated and Ellis wasn’t consumed by endless internal monologue about his shitty life and whether he deserved Luca or not. I really enjoyed the slow burn of their relationship.
I had a few little nit picky niggles about this but not enough to affect my enjoyment. It was really a lovely story and I can’t wait for the next one.
No TW’s for some pretty traumatic on page shit. Not much pisses me off more than that. My GR friends seem split down the middle and I’m on the “no thanks” half. If I have to read through trauma porn to get to the sweetness… just for there to be a third act tragedy. Yea no thanks.
My favorite book of the year so far. Loved everything about it: ◇ The romance ◇ Both MC and their distinct personalities, both so different and so lovable ◇ Hurt comfort ◇ Age gap: 38 to 24 ◇ The way sex work was never an issue ◇ How much they laughed together, humor and banter were top notch ◇ Amazing secondary characters ◇ The Dog ◇ Perfect epilogue I hope the book is the 1st in the series, and both Hayden and Jamie get their stories
Really hard to rate for me. On one hand it's a definite 1 star, on the other hand I did enjoy some things (I'll mention those way way down after my complaints, because this may be my longest review so far 😁).
Now to my complaints : This book should have been called a fairy tale, and only then the plot would have been decent.
In my opinion already the blurb was a bit misleading, mentioning that Ellis, being out of other options, had to work in the sex industry, but made me believe that Luca soon gave him a job and a place to sleep, which let me to believe that Ellis' job selling his body was a short episode, and the main part of the book would be focused on them getting closer and various struggles to get together, obviously. But maybe that was my lack of understanding.
My biggest problem with the book was its inconsistency. The plot the author chose/started with (chef with money and relationship issues falling for a younger, broke, homeless sex worker with traumatic childhood and stinking dog) was not the plot they actually wrote/developed (chef falling for a adorable but younger man with cuddly dog).
Ellis was introduced as a sarcastic survivor of a cruel childhood, first with his mother and stepdad who didn't care for him and whom he both found dead (!) , then he was lost in the fostercare system. On page we see how he had to start to work as prostitute because of circumstances, was abused by one client, was robbed at gunpoint and smacked with a gun by a stranger. His car where he first lived/slept for weeks was confiscated.
This all made sense, but then the author chose to forget about the heaviness of it all and went in a totally unbelievable direction.
It wasn't at all believable how Ellis' character coped with the whole situation and how the story continued. Just after being robbed by a stranger and/or abused by a client (I don't remember exactly) Ellis has a sex-appointment with Luca and is immediately attracted to him, to the point that the next time they meet he even licks Luca's cum because he's so turned on.. Luca of course is from the first moment nearly in love with Ellis, feeds him and cares for him, gives him a job. Ellis sleeps in his car and showers only once a week at some social service.. then he sleeps for months on a park bench. He meets clients for sex but showers just once a week. And Luca finds him attractive?? Every time they met prior to their living together, I hoped Luca would offer him his shower, but no... still dirty.
After Ellis got the job at Allessi's he continues to live for weeks on the street, and continues to meet some (although fewer) of his sex clients. That didn't sit well with me, either. And strangely we never got to know when Ellis decided not to work as prostitute anymore.
It was totally unrealistic how Ellis could be this sweet character after all he went through and is still going through? Just because he met Luca? He was introduced as sarcastic, hardened by a cruel life, but since meeting Luca he became a sweetheart.
This all felt like a totally disconnected from reality fairy tale.
Ooohhh I nearly forgot THE DOG. Everytime the dog was mentioned I shuddered because how dirty and stinking must a dog be, when he lives for months on the streets? Yet in the author's mind the dog seemed to be fierce but cuddly.
And should the explanation why Ellis got his name be funny? I'm at a loss. To me that was super cringey at best. And again, totally unbelievable.
Another thing that was super cringey was the fact that Luca had no qualms at Ellis working for him for sex, but when it got to the issue of committment, Ellus suddenly was too young, the age gap to wide. Really??
The whole plot would have made sense if Ellis had been a poor student for example, with bad housing, and their attraction had come from maybe a one night stand. Then Luca giving Ellis a job and a place to stay, thus having to step back from sex, would have been believable.
I liked the banter between Luca and Ellis, and how much they cared for each other. Because of this I'm rounding up to 2 stars.

5⭐️ Love Harmon’s writing. There is a perfect weave of humor, romance, angst, and sadness in this book. The first half broke my heart. Poor Ellis had such a hard life and just couldn’t catch a break. But my kryptonite is hurt/comfort and Luca was EVERYTHING Ellis needed. Their love story was so beautiful. It definitely had Pretty Woman vibes but so much better.
DNF @ 60% I started this book the day before yesterday, but I don't feel motivated to keep reading it. I like Luca and Ellis, but there isn’t anything special to keep me hooked on the story. I felt a connection, but something is missing for me, and it's becoming boring to continue. And then there's this Colin guy, I actually don't remember why he and Luca were going to get divorced. It’s frustrating that everyone else seems to love this book while I’m disliking it.
This book has a really beautiful love story and both MC and all the side characters are amazing.
The story starts out with Ellis and his friend Jamie, who live together in a small, dingy apartment, where Jamie is a sex worker and Ellis, a 24 year old kid from a broken home and later thrown into the foster care system, tries to find low-paid jobs to survive.
This was my Ellis, while Luca is on the cover.
When Ellis is left alone and homeless, he picks up some of Jamie's clients, one of them being Luca, a 38 year old restaurant owner, who's just out of a failed marriage and has a big family and a sinking business stressing him out.
Ellis is not what Luca expected to see on his doorstep. Luca likes him, they have really good chemistry, and with Luca being the caring, giving man that he is, he starts feeding Ellis, getting attached and eventually offers him a job at his restaurant.
So far the story was really good, although very slow paced, but I was really interested in what will happen between Luca and Ellis. The cutting off of their sex work deal kind of threw me off, it was sudden and without Luca's pre-meditation about it.
After Ellis started working at the restaurant the story lost me a little bit. I was trying to make it work in my head, because I felt like the magic and closeness that was there before, evaporated. Their dialogues were not the same and I kept wondering if they still like each other or what is going on exactly? There was no pining, although I'm sure they both felt it, but it looked like they were just going on with their lives and occasionally thought about them liking each other.
The transformation of their relationship from friendly to romantic should have been more specific, it had no particular defining moment or event where they just couldn't deal with being apart anymore and crossed that line. Luca liking Ellis wasn't as pronounced as before Ellis came to work for him.
Everything prior to that felt electrifying, while them living together and slowly getting physical felt lukewarm.
I kept wondering if Luca changed his mind? I couldn't feel like he was falling in love. When they were becoming a couple basically and having sex, most of it wasn't on-page and did they really officially become a couple? When?
The family drama with Ellis could have been more developed, I think Henry Shaw had amazing potential, so did all the side characters and I think if this is the start of the series, it makes sense, if not, well, I'm conflicted about these people having so little time in the story itself. Jamie, Hayden, hubands who built and decorated the farmhouse, Gio, even Ellis' tutor!
Ellis and Luca's story was pretty amazing, the beginning and the ending of the book was really good, while the main part of the story was foggy for me, many things happened, and yet they didn't evolve, the story had no clear direction and most of the time the dialogues weren't engaging, because they were somewhat silly and not fitting the more serious tone I hoped the story will take on.
Maybe it's just me, it probably is, but I finished the story feeling like something else should've happened to make Ellis and Luca's finding love more meaningful.
The one character that really stood out for me is definitely Hayden.
I honestly hope this will become a series and if so, I'll read it.
4.5 stars Really Really liked this one! A bit dark but also sweet story about two strong characters who lovingly help and support each other. A nice blend of drama and sugar, this one was a delight to read.
Overall book rating: 4.5 Audio book: N/A Book cover: 4 Stars
I feel like I won the lottery. Getting to read two books after another that gives you a book high is not something to take lightly.
I so enjoyed this one! May I be forward and just say that in my personal opinion, SE Harmon is just getting better and better with time?
I wasn't expecting what I got so I was very pleasantly surprised.
I loved Ellis. From his prickly pear way right through to learning that he deserves a happy ever after.
Luca. Well what is there to say? I loved him! I loved the story, the characters. The feel of the book.
I loved the interaction between Luca and Ellis. The back stories. The way Luca showed his feelings and took care of Ellis. The way Ellis is no push over.
If I start inserting clips I loved, the review would stretch rather long. So I can't choose a favorite. There were so many GOOD stuff! So many moments that made me feel emotional or made me giddy or just warm and fuzzy.
I have a soft spot for sex worker books. This one was really done well.
And then. Dog / Charlie. Awwwwwwww He was such a great addition to the cast. He just fits them so well. I fell in love with him from the start.
This story just worked for me. It just ticked my boxes in a whole lot of ways and made me smile like a silly person.
I'm a happy reader. Thank you SE Harmon. Keep them coming please.
3.75 stars Much more even than some of Harmon's recent books, but still with the sardonic edge that just does it for me.
This is essentially a hurt/comfort plot, with some extra bits tacked on as if in apology for the slightly soft-centred theme. Extras weren't needed - Ellis's problems weren't to seek, and I enjoyed his journey to equality with Luca. I could read this again.
3.5 Strange how a story with such a base case can turn out in such a light-hearted feelgood way. If it wouldn't be so easy to see it as a modern fairytale, I might have an issue with how fast Luca could get through Ellis' prickly walls, how less lasting effects Ellis' upbringing seemed to have and how easy some angst-inducing events are handled. Other stories would glory in all that drama possibility but not this one. This story is undoubtedly a fairytale romance where kindness leads to love and love conquers all … with a little help from good friends and supporting family.
Yes, it had the "down on his luck becoming sex-worker then meet the kind-hearted john" predictable trope but S.E. Harmon provides her brand of banters and snarks, that this story didn't drown in angst. I loved both main characters - Ellis who may started the book trying to survive after practically becoming homeless, and Luca who started the book trying to save his family's restaurant after his deceased father pretty much drowned the restaurant in debts.
I loved how their relationship progress. I loved the friends and family members (and DOG!)... I might guess where some plots were going (with that clue about a lawyer looking Ellis up, of course he would end up getting a LOT of money) but it didn't bother me much.
Warm, cozy, charming, low angst. Loved everything about this book. It was everything I like in romance novels, a bit realistic, a bit how I would personally handle things, a bit down to earth and very little drama lama. Down on his luck sex worker and restaurant owner chef, age gap.
The dialogue and inner thoughts were so good. Cute, cutesy, silly, sweet, humorous. I typically don’t highlight text very often, but this book? So many moments and thoughts that just connected with me. Really great characters, well established and consistent throughout in their words and actions. Lovable, kind, generous and absolutely adorable.
Again, no heavy drama, just every day type stuff, overcoming expectations and getting through life the best you can. We’ll done!
This was an absolutely beautiful story or strength and resilience.
Ellis was truly given a bad hand in life. He had no one, he been thru the foster care system, homeless a few times and depended on sex work just to feed himself. But he never gave up. He never quit. He was a hard worker and while life kept throwing him grenades, he never complained. He just kept moving.
Luca found himself running a family business he had no passion for and responsible for severe debt incurred by his deceased father. He felt trapped and isolated. He was also going thru a divorce. He had no room for a relationship, or even romance.
While this book had minimal spice, it was packed full of emotion. The MCs were both dealing with so much and not looking for anything but they couldn’t stay away from each other. They found such comfort in just being around the other. They felt seen and valued. They were so wonderful together!!
I will say that the bit with the loan shark should’ve been more complicated or wrapped up in some way. I also think Lucas divorce with Colin wasn’t adequately explored or resolved.
