⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. I am so happy that this book is out in the world now. It has been a labor of love for this debut author (who is the most wonderful person). Set in Indianapolis, it follows a family experiencing the heartbreak of losing a member, the love of gaining a new (albeit slightly strange) four-legged friend, and the terror of a kidnapping. It leaves on a cliffhanger with the promise of more fantasy elements being woven into the sequel. I can’t wait to read more.

Wow! Though I am not usually a Young Adult fiction fan, I fell in love with this book and the characters! I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait for the sequel!

What a lovely and heartwarming coming-of-age story! Finally a YA fiction without shallow character arcs but with relatable teens. I appreciated how tough times were handled in the book. Even those awkward high school moments, were handled positively not leaving me cringing at the pages. The best part, it had a satisfying ending and at the same time, leaving me wanting to read the sequel ASAP :D A must read for tweens and teens.

P.S.: the quotes at the beginning of the chapters are absolutely brilliant! Some had me rolling with laughter.

4 out of 5 stars. This book hit home for me having lost someone very special to me like the main character in this book. Having been bullied as a kid I felt Cassie's pain and embarrassing moments. Love how she overcame her hardships and the friendships she has. Definitely will be reading more from this author.

This was such a pleasant read. I loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter and could picture Tiera saying them (a la her joke of the day on her Friday sprints).

I don’t often read middle grade but it was so refreshing to have a wholesome story and I loved getting to know Cassie and her parents as they live life and joke around and then navigate grief. I was so pleasantly surprised of the ending and can’t wait to get my hands on the next in the series to see where it goes.
