Le paludi della piattaforma: Riprendiamoci Internet (Not)

Rate this book

There's a lot of interesting perspectives in this book and also a lot of references to other theories& writers. Unfortunately these writers are discussed without an introduction, which makes it hard to read if you haven't read all these other books first. A bit of an explanation beforehand would have been nice. On the upside: I've added a lot of books to my 'want to read' list after reading this book.

hard to rate, the ideas are really interesting (esp. the Network vs the Platform) but the writing is very poor - jumbled, hard to follow, incoherent! aware of the irony of immediately posting on a Platform my thoughts … i guess im just …. Stuck ….

Ambiguo, contradictorio.

Wrote a review for the book section of Gonzo (circus) magazine. It is a great book to get a deeper understanding of the current developments on the internet. Although the author stresses that more action is needed, he doesn't link those developments to the actions taken by designers. I guess there is enough material there for a new book ;- )

I love the topic and I was really excited to read this book, the idea of platforms ruling everything and creating monopolies of niches is something that I hate seem that "internet" became this.

For what I was expecting of the book, I felt that some stuff was off topic. Lots of information that linked to some other books / contents / videos but sometimes it was overwhelming.

The first half was inquisitive theory challenging our everyday use of the internet and its dilapidated state. As the text progressed, so did its decent into theory of networks, eventually passing the threshold of casual tech user understanding.

Infumable.

Interesting exploration of internet addiction and how to decentralise. I think the structure could be tweaked a little as it was confusing at times.

The book presents a very relevant premise, but ultimately struggles to turn its critique into a practical read.
