We all know the rhyme.
Secrets, secrets are no fun unless you share with everyone.
But that’s not true for this secret.
This secret is not meant to be shared.
It’s locked inside me.
Always trying to escape by pushing me beneath the surface.
Drowning me.
Still, I keep it hidden.
Until one look into his dark, consuming eyes convinces me to tell him everything.
And I try to. I really do.
But sometimes, secrets have a way of revealing themselves on their own.
Even when we least expect it.

I don't if its me or the book. But I'm going to have to DNF this too. Because of some reasons.
1: I couldn't get into the story
2: NATHAN & NATALIE are so stupid like they both obviously in love with each other's. And again it's so obvious but they are so stupid and everyone is like oh I'm like her/him but they don't seem to notice me.
P. S. They kissed in the past. (I mean please they both like were kissing and was like we wanted to do this for so long but then oh no I wish he notices me.)
And even when he gave her his number and invite her to go to the party with him. she still like no I shouldn't have feelings for him because he doesn't and then goes and put his number in the trash.
3: it's like I'm reading a wattpad book. And they kissed so soon.
NO I CAN'T DO THIS. BYE

Natalie has done everything she can to forget about what happened to her last Halloween. After 10 months of isolation, she's made the move to Boston for a fresh start where no one will know her. What she doesn't expect is to run into her childhood crush before her classes even begin.

Nathan has known Natalie since they were children; his best friend Brian and her best friend Vanessa being siblings. Now they're studying together, and he struggles to forget the unrequited feelings he has had for her over the years, before she disappeared.

As the two grow closer in a new environment, secrets slowly begin to reveal themselves. Why did Natalie push everyone away? And why is she so terrified to tell Nathan? As he struggles to find the truth, it appears Natalie is not the only one with secrets, and Nathan's are trying to catch up with him regardless of the cost...

I LOVED this book!! Truly, it took me on such a journey and I really rooted for Natalie as she revealed more of her story. There was exactly the right amount of back story as we progressed through twists and turns to really build the suspense up. The ending was exactly what I hoped for, without being predictable or expected.

As Natalie & Nathan's relationship deepened, the spice was 🔥🔥
I appreciated the fact that the relationship wasn't immediate and they took their time to bridge into being a couple. Both characters are broken in their own ways, which is explored so delicately within the dual POV layout of the chapters. Ultimately, I just really enjoyed the book and devoured it in one sitting!!

Thank you to Author Ashley Elizabeth for providing me with this ARC. All opinions are my own and have been freely given 💕
Pop this on your TBR and look out for the publication date of the 2nd of May 2023!

this was good but at the same time predictable since the first chapter and kinda boring but for a strange reason I kept reading, the ending was so rushed and dramatic and left so many things unexplained, and the mcs pissed me off so much at times but they were also cute?! literally my thoughts of this book are so mixed so I’m gonna say it’s in between 2.5 and 3 stars.
what did ate was Nate reading anxiety books in order to understand how to help Nat…I need a man like that🫥

“I know you are strong and capable of saving yourself, but even the strongest people need help. And on the days you feel like you're drowning, I want to be the one that saves you. Mentally or physically, I will always save you.”

I enjoyed this book. I was interested and engaged the whole time.

We have Natalie who experiences a traumatic event the year previous. And a childhood friend who she crushed on Nathan who suddenly comes back into her life.

This book was heartbreaking, and maddening, with a few laughs in the mix.

We got friends to lovers, little bit of found family, mental health representation (anxiety), SA, alcoholism, domestic abuse (off page, recounts ).

I did want a little more from the ending, but excited for book 2 which includes Natalie’s brother Jason and her childhood best friend.

Oh my heart ♥️ This book book was so good I binged it in 1 night. I connected with the story right from the start and I fell in love with Nathan and Nathalie. The romance, the intrigue, the issues brought up meshed so well together and made everything flow beautifully. You get so into the story you don’t realize how much you are reading. I think the author did a good job at representing how anxiety can affect your life and for someone like me who does have general anxiety I felt like it was subtle and represented appropriately.

Great MCs (can Nathan be real?), amazing supporting characters, everyone and every character development contributed to making this a heartfelt story that brings out a whole mixture of emotions. I will definitely pick up the next book and I will never recommend it enough to anyone who likes second chance college romance.

If you like Ana Huang books, you’ll love this book!

Another stunning story. This book told a love story. A real one with dark elements. I had a lot of fun getting to know Natalie and Nathan. Nathan is this sweet guy who is someone you’d immediately question “what’s really wrong with you”. He has his own baggage that he carries with him. But he is perfect. Book boyfriend✅

Natalie was struggling really hard with her past and trying to move on with something you need to address rather than ignore it. She is a lovable character and you can tell why Nathan is head over heels.

I hope you all will enjoy reading this as much as I did. I could not put this one down and I loved the mysterious vibe to Natalie. Who did this to you sis!!!!!! Now I will patiently wait for the next installment for this series. 🥹

There are some TW: it does get deep.

I was gifted an ARC copy of this masterpiece in exchange for a review so thank you very much Ashley!!!! Bravo!!!!!!!

I love a love story, and Nathan and Natalie are no exception. Their love is steamy, romantic, and Nathan’s profession of love to Natalie was one of the most touching I’ve ever read. But the love story is not what blew me away about this book.

What blew me away was the way my chest tightened with Natalie’s when panic overcame her. The way fear gripped my heart alongside hers when she thought no one would believe her story. The way relief overwhelmed my senses when she’d finally let Nathan in and bared her soul to him. I felt every emotion right alongside her, and THAT is the sign of an outstanding novel.

As a woman who has experienced sexual assault, I found Natalie’s story so realistic and close to home. I felt seen by her character, and especially her struggle to trust that others would believe her. It’s something so many assault survivors go through as well. The author handled this with integrity and grace, and I thank her for that.

If you love an emotional college romance, do yourself a favor and read this novel. You won’t regret it.

Natalie has a secret, a secret that she hasn’t told anybody. Growing up in Connecticut, Natalie has had the same group of friends; her best friend Vanessa, Vanessa’s older brother Brian, and his best friend Nate. Natalie has always crushed on Nate, but she thinks he never noticed her. After the secret that changed her life, Natalie pulls back from everyone, isolating herself the year before she moves to Boston for college.

Nate has a family secret. One he doesn’t discuss with anybody. Growing up in Connecticut with the Gordon’s, he’s made a home for himself with their children; Brian, his best friend, and Vanessa. Nate has always noticed Natalie, but is convinced she never noticed him. One day, Natalie disappears from their friend group. Nate wonders why. But he has his own little problem to worry about, getting into a bit of trouble that finds him transferring colleges to Boston.

Natalie and Nate are reunited and the firework show starts. But Natalie has a secret. And Nate has one too. Both of them are concerned about what the other will think.

I enjoyed this book. It’s a high 3 star, almost a 4. The story was a little predictable, the beginning a little slow. But there were things that I loved about it; Nate’s crush on Natalie was super cute! I loved how he was always surprised at her liking him back. He couldn’t believe that he was with THE Natalie Spencer, even though he himself was Mr Popularity in his own class, captain of the baseball team and all around star athlete.

Natalie was a joy to read about. Even though her secret wasn’t really too hard to find out, and it was…

*MINI SPOILER* a little frustrating how long it took for everything to come out. [*END SPOILER*]

Anyway, Natalie was a little different from the stereotypical popular girl in that she was kind, a little shy, and self conscious. She also suffered with anxiety. But that’s probably where the non-stereotypes end- she IS rich, blond, white, “all American” type of girl, that every guy wants to get with, so she wasn’t too unique.

The main negative (not to forget the mentionable-predictability and slow start) was probably the feeling like much didn’t get resolved in the end. But I have a feeling that book two might shed more light on that.

Anywho. I enjoyed this book, and I’m immediately jumping into book two.

From the prologue, I was hooked. Ashley done a phenomenal job portraying Natalie’s anxiety— I could literally feel the warring emotions on the pages that left me gripped, and how her trauma was still very much affecting her. After a terrifying ordeal, which almost a year later she is still recovering from, Natalie hopes a fresh start by relocating to Boston for school. Even if it’s completely out of her comfort, Natalie is determined and I loved that she still wanted to be the girl who she was before what happened.

That is until she’s quite literally bumps into Nathan, her childhood crush from her hometown. The last person she was expecting to see. They both have their own traumas, but through their friendship and undeniable chemistry, they fall in love.

I was rooting for Natalie to find herself again; seeing her confidence grow back and even reform her friendship that she thought was lost. With the help of how attentive and supportive Nathan was, and her family’s support, it was really heartwarming to read. I loved the secondary characters, too. After Nathan, Jason is my favourite 🤭

I’m literally giddy for the next book, and for what else Ashley’s got in store!

I devoured this book right up! This was an amazing debut novel for Ashley Elizabeth!

Natalie & Nathan are adorable together, and their long time crushes on each other pulled on all my heart strings.

I loved the mental health representation that the FMC, Natalie, was going through. All the anxiety she felt was well written and realistic feeling. I loved how Natalie was able to break through her struggles and started to live life again!

Our MMC, Nathan, is top tier book boyfriend material. Talk about swoon with how much he loved and cared about Natalie and helped her through her struggles.

If you love second chance college romances, I highly recommend this book!

He cares so much for Natalie and does everything that he can to support and protect her. Natalie was so strong and I felt so connected to her character! I found myself not wanting to put the book down because I was so intrigued to know the secrets that both of the characters were keeping. Unreal debut novel from the one and only Ashley Elizabeth. I’m forever grateful to have been on your ARC team- it was UNREAL. Between themes of love, hate, internal character struggle, friendships, and family drama I was pulled and pushed in all directions.

Before I Tell You will have you smiling, laughing, and crying on the edge of your seat for every page turn.

Speechless.

Natalie is hiding a dark secret from everyone in her life. Dealing with crippling anxiety, she moves to Boston for college and a fresh start where no one knows her. Little does she know that the universe has other plans of putting someone from her past back in her path.

Nathan wakes up hungover in a house he doesn’t remember, late for orientation to pick his classes. On his mission to get coffee before begging the administrators office about classes, he can’t believe who he sees on his way out. The one girl who has always claimed his thoughts.

While Natalie and Nathan navigate getting to know each other more and rekindling their friendship, life seems to throw many curve balls their way. Can they overcome them? Will their pasts catch up to them? Will Natalie’s anxiety get the best of her?

I am digging this so hard y’all! This book was absolutely beautiful. It had me sucked in immediately from the beginning and all throughout. Everything flowed so well, you could feel the love, and it felt like a real place. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and getting to know the characters. While I’m not typically a fan of virgin tropes, it fit perfectly with the story and the spice was so good! 🤌🏻 The drama kept me on my seat anxiously awaiting what was going to happen to next.

I felt connected to Natalie and like I was watching a story unfold about a friend. I wanted to reach through my kindle so many times to hug her and tell her everything was going to be ok.

Nathan is literally the perfect book boyfriend in every way and has officially been added to my very short list of favorites. He was so thoughtful, his patience was unwavering, and you could just feel the love he had for Natalie.

I cannot wait for the next book and to see what other characters may eventually get their spotlight. I cannot wait to throw this at everyone for the foreseeable future until everyone I know reads it.

Thank you again Ashley for letting me have an early sneak peek of this and for getting me out of my slump. I still stand by my statement about the rain scene and divorcing my husband. 🤣

thank you to Wordsmith Publicity for the ebook!

Because even though she is quite capable of saving herself, I will always save her. Whether from herself or others, I will save her.

I don’t really have the words. Similarly to when I read The Way I Used To Be I have too many emotions, and not enough words. This book was heartbreakingly beautiful.

This book follows Natalie, who I just wanted to hug & squeeze 95% of the book, and Nathan, who I also wanted to hug, and who is, without a doubt, the best boyfriend ever. They both have their fair share of trauma throughout the book, but if anything, that made me love them even more.

I will say that this is a heavier romance than what I usually read. But this is not a dark romance. It is a story of two people who love each other, in spite of everything life has thrown at them.

I could spend this entire review talking about Natalie. I understood her in ways I wish I didn’t, and in ways I’m glad I did. Everything about her felt so real and raw, and I found myself wanting to reach into my kindle to take her out and give her the biggest hug.

And then there was Nathan. Good, sweet, Nathan, who had notes on his phone on how to help his girlfriend with anxiety, who, despite his own hardships and trauma, did everything in his power to make sure she was okay. I wish I could find a man like him in my life, because he was perfect.

I would’ve finished this book in one day if I didn’t have to sleep or work. That’s how good it was — I wanted to finish it immediately. I needed to know Nathan’s secret, and what happened to Natalie, and if they would end up together. This book really kept me on the edge of my seat.

As far as romances go, this has so many things I enjoy. They were almost like childhood best friends to lovers, which I adore. And it was so sweet — and spicy!!

As I sit here writing this review, I still am reeling with so many emotions. I wish I could find the words to explain how much a story like this means to me. But I can’t, so I’ll just say thank you. Thank you, Ashley, for writing such a wonderful story that I will never forget.

Before I Tell You is one of the best books I’ve read this year. The depth and authenticity of Nathan and Natalie’s relationship was palpable. Nathan and Natalie have known each other since they were kids, growing up together in the same friend group. When they find themselves at the same college after a complicated year apart, the feelings that they both have suppressed for one another become apparent, sparking an undeniable connection. But both Nathan and Natalie have secrets and those secrets slowly reveal themselves as their relationship evolves.

A huge factor in this story is the topic of anxiety and how it affects Natalie. The anxiety Natalie experiences is something that I relate to deeply. Her anxiety is portrayed in a way that makes the reader feel exactly what she is feeling in that moment, which is a difficult thing for authors to accomplish. I have never felt a connection to a fictional character the way I felt connected to Natalie. Her character and I share a lot in common (aside from the same name😏) and I think that’s why I relate to her like I do.

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. Reading books that make you feel every emotion is exactly why I love reading. I can’t recommend this book enough. Please check TWs before reading.

Thank you so much to Ashley, who reached out to me to send me this ARC. She said it best, I was absolutely meant to read this book. I’m beyond excited for Jason and Vanessa’s story!

Natalie and Nathan’s story is probably one of the most wholesome & loving stories I’ve read in a while and of course when you sprinkle in that spice it’s the icing on the cake. I just loved everything about this. The mental health representation with a partner who goes above and beyond to help you through it really hit close to home for me. I always love a good romance read that I can relate to. It was so beautiful to read.

Nathan must be protected at all costs. I honestly didn’t know just how much I would fall in love with him. 😂 he’s a little young but that’s okay! Because oh my goodness he’s a freakin teddy bear. 🥹 I absolutely fell in love with his character. The way he was so patient with Natalie, who was living through such life changing trauma she hadn’t figured out how to cope with while dealing with his own consuming trauma was just so wholesome. I was proud of him for everything he did for his family & being able to talk about it. And I was so proud of Natalie for finally speaking her truth which gave her the liberation she needed to live her best life. They both deserve the world. 🤍

💐Thank you so much to Ashley for sending me a copy of her very first book. It was such an honor to read it. You're amazing girl! Super proud of you! 🤍

First of all I’m blown away that this is her first published book🤯

I devoured this book. I was hooked..

I absolutely love Nathan🫠 He is sweet, he is protective and possessive over his girl, he shows emotion and wants to make her happy…

Nathan and Natalie basically grew up together. They both had crushes on each another but never really said anything…

They kiss at the beach for the first time and then he doesn’t hear from her again… He has no idea what happened or if he did something wrong…

Natalie has a dark secret that no one knows about. She has nightmares over what happened.

They both end up changing schools and end up in the same place.

They end up having a class together and start hanging out more.

He notices that she acts differently around his best friend Brian and legit turns white and freezes or runs away when he’s around.

They both have secrets, but Nathan tells her about his demons and she still can’t seem to get enough courage to tell him about what happened until it’s to late.

You can feel the emotion from both of them in this book and I seriously love it.

This part legit broke my heart:💔

If you're looking for a new Book Boyfriend, look no further. Nathan is easily the perfect book boyfriend a reader can ask for. And the FMC, Natalie, isn't hard to fall for either. I wanted to care for her as much as Nathan did because I so easily see myself in her. Anxiety is a terrible thing, and Ashley Elizabeth does a great job showing just how restricting it can be for a person. I enjoyed this book so much. The chemistry between Nathan and Natalie was so wonderful and the spice? Just the right amount without taking away from the story. Personally, I wish I could have had more LOL. I don't mind a little "too much" spice. Each character had their own secret they were afraid to share, which only made me want to see how honest they could be with each other. I laughed, I gasped, and I may have shouted "NOOOO!" a couple of times because I wanted only happy things to happen... but we all know we need the bad to appreciate the good. Everything tied together so well, I truly, truly am happy I read this.

Please read if you enjoy New Age / Second-Chance Romance.

Before I Tell You by Ashley Elizabeth

Happy release day to this beauty!

“I know you are strong and capable of saving yourself, but even the strongest people need help. And on the days you feel like you’re drowning I want to be the one to save you”

I’m sobbing and swooning at the same time. This book took me on a journey.. an emotional one at that.

Natalie has moved to Boston for college, she is wanting a fresh start from what happened to her on Halloween night. However, someone from her past happens to be there… her childhood crush.

Nathan and Natalie have known each other forever. As they are getting reacquainted with each other through studying and being in a new place, secrets begin to unravel. As Nathan starts to learn the truth about Natalie’s past, it seems he can’t escape his secrets either.

My favorite part of this book is the mental health aspect. Having someone who is in your corner, that goes above and beyond to protect/help was something I strongly related to. This book was astounding and just blew me away.

Thank you Ashley for this incredible story!

This is for you if you like:

Okay this book is slept on! I devoured it in under 24 hours and loved everyone minute of it. Even more surprising, this is the authors debut novel and honestly I would have never known.

The storyline was so unique and done so freaking well. I was so invested and trying to figure out what happened to both characters. On top of that the way that mental health was represented in this book I loved, I related to her anxious thoughts so much.

Nathan is the sweetest man, the way he shows his love for Natalie was perfection. He knew she was capable but wanted to support her in every way he could. Even when she pushes him away he doesn’t get mad he just shows her she is worth it 😍 Natalie goes through it in this book so her having Nathan in her corner made me love this book so much.

This NA Contemporary Romance introduces readers to a story that proves with every pump of these childhood friends-to-lovers hearts, that love can begin to bloom and thrive when our soul meets its mate…no matter how old we are. 🥰

Morally sound and mature MMC Nathan, seizes a kismet opportunity to pursue Natalie, our FMC who faces anxiety, panic attacks, and her fears head on. Review✍🏻

This was a fantastic debut novel! It had so many amazing aspects woven into it. The FMC was a sweet young college student living with a secret that was dictating her life. She suffers from extreme anxiety that she has difficulty coping with it. I always love to see a character with anxiety, especially when it’s well written. The MMC was a dream boat! He was so good to the FMC and the way he helped her with her anxiety made my heart melt. Both characters have emotional baggage they bring to the relationship but it just makes their story that much better. I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s a scene in the rain and it literally gave me chills. A really fantastic read with love, friendship, lies, secrets and a lovely happy ending. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

After hiding a secret from everyone, Natalie moves to Boston for college in an effort to forget that horrible October night 10 months ago. She doesn’t expect to run into her life long crush in the campus coffee shop a week before school even starts. The two rekindle a flame and grow closer in the process. Will Natalie be able to be honest with Nathan or will secrets come to reveal themselves?

This was such a cute read! I was so grateful to receive this as an arc! Nathan is such an amazing book boyfriend. And I loved Natalie’s character arc through out the book. I also loved the mental health rep! This was such an amazing debut novel and I can’t wait to read Jason and Vanessa’s story!

Thank you so much to @ashleyelizabethauthor for my advance copy and goodies. Now I know what you are thinking, this isn’t my typical read. You are right, it isn’t. However, I am so glad I got the opportunity to read it! Before I tell you my thoughts, I just have to say this cover is GORGEOUS and the color combo is my favorite!

This is a love story, a tale as old as time so to speak. The only thing is….it is so realistic and true to life. I connected right away with Natalie. As someone who has been in a bad situation AND someone who suffers from anxiety, I really understood her. The way the author portrays anxiety and sexual assault is handled with such care and kid gloves. My heart broke for Natalie.

The story bounces back and forth between POVs and will make you wishing Nathan was real. I mean…swoon! New book boyfriend alert! The steam is steamy and made me blush a few times. All my smut queens will be happy!

All in all, those who love romance and college relationships with some hard-hitting subjects will

3.5 ⭐️ For a debut novel, I thought this was fantastic although some parts were fast paced and then it was a little repetitive without saying what happened that night and then when we find out, it felt a little rushed. This maybe more a personal preference but I needed a better resolution. Yes we got the love and the HEA but I’m hoping in book 2 we see the a hole go down 🤣 that guy is on my shit list.

But overall I loved Nate and Natalie’s story!

This follows Natalie a college student who for the last year has been suffering from anxiety and drowning in pain from that night and the guy she had a crush on being at the same university. He becomes her saviour and what a whirlwind they went through, during the book.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I loved the storyline, the characters, the mystery….. it was all put together so perfectly. Nathan and Natalie are soulmates and you feel it in every bone in your body from the moment they reconnect.
My heart cries for Natalie through most of the book, you know something horrible happened and you can speculate but it has broken her completely and I just want to pick up all the pieces and put her back together, stronger. This is what Nate does, he is her missing piece, he’s perfect. He’s the boyfriend we all need and want in our lives and no one deserves him more than Natalie. Nate also deserves her, he is also fighting demons and trying to heal from his past and move on to happiness and it’s a journey I’m there for with both of them.
Read this book!!!

I loved Ashley’s writing style from page one and I can’t wait to read everything she writes.
A huge thank you to Ashley Elizabeth for an ARC in exchange for an honest review, it really was my pleasure reading this one!

I was very privileged to receive an arc copy of Ashley Elizabeth's debut novel. I received this copy and completed reading it the same day, I just couldn't put it down! Nathan was a man every woman dreams of falling in love with. I love a good second chance romance, and this exceeded all my expectations. My only thought was that the "secret" Natalie holds was alluded to quiet heavily in the first half which can actually truly make you feel the weight a sexual assault surviver feels so make sure to read the trigger warnings. All in all it was a romance you truly won't be able to put down once you start, and with Natalie and Nathan, you won't be able to help but fall in love with their story.
