Phoenix is an inspiring writer with a tragic past. Ash is a possessive Alpha male firefighter with his own dark past. Will the love they find pull them from the ashes of their crumbled pasts?
This story contains profanity, sex, violence, abuse, and death. It is purely a fantasy for those who like authors with a dark side, a twisted mind, and who like to push limits. This is not a story for anyone easily triggered or under the age of 18. Subject matters that may trigger emotional distress Spousal abuse, death of a child, and talk of sexual assault.
I am obsessed with this writer. I love how this story was written. I was pulled in from the start. I was unsure how I feel about Tom. I can't wait to get a physical copy.I am moving all of her books that I haven't read up in my tbr.
“From the Ashes” is described as a “sweet romance,” yes, it is sweet, but don’t be too fooled. Ash (MMC) is everything but sweet between the sheets and out as well. Ash is a firefighter who leaves a group grief counseling meeting and runs into Phonenix, who is distraught outside. It’s fate, coincidence, love at first sight—whatever you want to call it—they are immediately drawn together. Though this was a novella, Author Shelly Gray brings readers along for the ride. From the way they meet to the dates they go on. We get to experience the emotional bits that Phonenix discloses as if we are on that date with her—reliving the trauma and loss she had to endure. “From the Ashes” is my first Shelly Gray book, but not my last.
