This CD-ROM contains essays from 13 sets and 53 print volumes in the Scribner's Writer's Series. The Comprehensive Authors Edition contains all 1,545 essays from the series, while a Selected Authors Edition contains 812 of the most frequently requested authors. A Handbook of Literary Terms is built into both editions. The Comprehensive features multiple perspectives on many writers; for example, users would find an overview of H.G. Wells from British Writers and specialized essays on him from Science Fiction Writers, Supernatural Fiction Writers, and Writers for Children . Making the Comprehensive even more valuable, three of the included print series are now out of Books of the Bible, Writers for Children, and Science Fiction Writers . The full-text biocritical essays are accompanied by a portrait or other illustration, and are thoroughly searchable and hyperlinked; the CD-ROM provides the features of the Netscape browser interface for selective printing, bookmarking, and backtracking.
