"I didn't ask how you got here. I asked why you came when you can barely stand."
"Why do you think? Because you're here."

AAAAAAAA THE GIN AND MATSUMOTO FEELINGS!! Gin's face expression when he looked at her bad state... He could've looked like he was smiling like usual (well, like a snake), but if you look closer, you can see the pain and regret on his face. This face expression killed me. My guy, please, I BEG YOU, take her and run away! Run away RIGHT NOW AND DON'T LOOK BACK!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭

(I know that it's not what had happened. But I can still dream, can I? Just let me be delusional a little bit longer.)

Okay, now that I screamed my heart out, let's go to the right Volume 47 review.

"How'd that work?"
"I'm not sure. I haven't been able to read his spirit energy since he transformed. It's obvious he's terrifyingly powerful. But even as I attack him, it's almost like he's not even here."
"It's a little creepy."
"The only one who can perceive Aizen's power right now is someone who's in the same state he is."

After showing up in the battlefield, Urahara, Isshin and Yoruichi are trying tirelessly to bring Aizen down, but, no matter what kind of attacks they use, it seems like their opponent is just too strong for them to handle. All our heroes manage to do is to speed up Aizen's second transformation. Meanwhile, Ichigo's focus is put on another treacherous captain, Gin. But to Gin Ichigo's fear of Aizen's powers is clear. He uses this knowledge against the teenager like a weapon. When the heroes are defeated and Ichigo, paralyzed by fear, is unable to do anything, the treacherous captains go to the Soul Society.

The scene between Gin and Ichigo shows like any other how young and, despite all the fights he's been through, how inexperienced Ichigo actually is. He's faced with a truly destructive power, a power of a god that Ichigo, despite his impressive heritage, is unable to defeat. Our greatest hero, the hope of Soul Society, the guy who, no matter what he faced and no matter how much fear he felt, never backed down and always stood up, now let his fear control him. Now he decided to back down and let the opponent leave.

"Aren't you coming? What else are you gonna do? Cry? You gonna sit there and cry again about how you can't save anyone?! Think hard about why Aizen headed to the Karakura Town in the Soul Society. If you don't go, then the people you want to protect, and everybody else, every single person in Karakura Town, will die at the hands of Aizen."
"Dad... Open the Senkaimon."

Do not worry, Isshin's there to whack his son on the head and snap him up from his funk! I already said it, but I really love this duo. I wish to see more of their bickering, but I know that there was no time for it. Aizen was heading to the Soul Society which meant danger for all the citizens of Ichigo's and Isshin's hometown. You could say that Isshin should've been more understanding of Ichigo's doubts and fears - he was facing a person with god-like powers after all, while being only a fifteen year old - but the truth is that this full of doubts and fears fifteen year old was the only person who could save the world. He was the only person who could become strong enough to face the god an win. And Isshin was perfectly aware of it. But how to make Ichigo stronger in such a little bit of time they had?

"Ichigo, you probably gained all your techniques through brute force. Do you understand? In order for you to take the next step, you will have to step into those millennia that you haven't experienced. Go... Ichigo!"

Unaware of it (or was he...?), Aizen's given a way for Ichigo to gain the power he needs for victory. Ichigo is supposed to fight Zangetsu again, but, after traveling to the inner world, who he meets is a complete stranger. To gain the strength, Ichigo needs to face some harsh truths and overpower his Zanpakuto, but will he be able to do it before Isshin's energy is gonna go down?

It seems like the final battle is near. And it means that a certain sacrifice is also near. I might think I am ready to witness it, but I know I am not. The amount of tears I will share will be enormous, I'm sure of it!

Some things I need to talk about:

~ If I didn't know better, after seeing an image of Matsumoto lying down after Gin's attack, I would assume that she got mercilessly killed 😨
~ Did I say that I love Gin's face expression when he was talking with Matsumoto? Because I love his face expression!
~ Both Aizen and Gin used manipulation skills against Ichigo and for both it was an experiment, but the difference is that, for Aizen everything was just a child's play, Gin wanted to know if Ichigo is able to face Aizen and win. For now, he ended up being disappointed (but we know what's coming!).
~ "I'm leaving you here. I can devour you when this is all over." - EXCUSE ME?! What did Aizen mean by that?!
~ Aizen perfectly knew that Ichigo will become stronger. All he needed to do was to wait a little bit. But what he didn't know was how strong Ichigo will become. His brilliant intelligence didn't help, because if he only knew, if he only suspected, he would kill Ichigo immediately!
~ I didn't like Aizen's chase after Ichigo's friends and I didn't like the Don Kanonji show up. If it was supposed to be dramatic, it failed. If it was supposed to be funny, it failed. With all due respect to Ichigo's friends, it was completely unnecessary and, despite being a quite short sequence, dragged itself tremendously.
~ Tatsuki's one of the most beautiful BLEACH girls! I do not understand why it was Orihime to be named as the most beautiful student in Ichigo's school. Tatsuki is much better in every way, not only in looks!
~ "Be careful. Zangetsu will be merciless this time. My Engetsu was the same way." - First of all, I am glad to find out the name of Isshin's Zanpakuto (I am pretty sure it was mentioned in the anime, but I didn't register it). It sounds so similar to Zangetsu - is it because their masters are the father and the son? Anyways, what I am really curious about is if Isshin knew the Final Getsugatensho move (which means, just like Ichigo, he also fought with his Zanpakuto), what were the circumstances of him learning it and how did he get his powers back? 🤨
~ "Make no mistake, Ichigo. What you want to protect is not what I want to protect!" - oh, I know! Same! 😭✋
~ White never fails to impress me, but in his Vasto Lorde form is the greatest!
~ The amount of bodies Aizen had left behind of his walk through the Karakura Town?! It shocked me. I don't remember the anime showing it 😨

Ichigo is currently fighting to obtain The Final Getsuga Tensho and it’s not looking good for him. Tensa Zangestu is angry and he has no plans to teach that to Ichigo. Also Ichigo’s friends are back but they’re being chased by Aizen and things will be bad if he catches them. Rangiku is down so who’s going to help them now?

Another amazing volume. Cannot wait to read the final one. Gins story is about to hit the apex and I can't wait, plus Ichigoat is finally about to arrive. Ishin coming in and revealing how strong he was/is was so satisfying man and the way he's helping Ichigo learn was so well done, definitely the best dad in all of anime. The fight between Ichigo and his zanpakuto was also really well done and shown considering how complex of a situation it really is. Aizen is just Aizen, absolutely absurdly over powered and seemingly unstoppable. Step in Kisuke Urahara - the best quote from this volume- "Your the only person in soul society who's mind is more brilliant than my own". Damn right he is.

description

Le sigh.

Bleach, Volume 47 picks up right where the last volume left off and it is yet another filler volume . By no means does that mean this book is terrible because it is very interesting. However, the last few volumes (excepting the last one) have been a pretty anti-climatic build-up to one of the most anticipated battles. With only one volume left to this story arc, I'm actually eager for it to come to an end.

Aizen seems unstoppable with his ever-growing phenomenal powers. The amazing team of Urahara, Isshin, and Yoruichi don't even seem to have a fighting chance against him. However will Ichigo beat Aizen in the span of one more book's time??

Gin has always been very intriguing to me. I kept hoping Tite Kubo would do a detailed backstory on him, but seeing that there is only one volume left, my hopes are crushed. Unless the last volume is the size of Les Misérables, I don't see how I'll get my wish. Seeing the interaction between Gin and Rangiku made me want a spinoff story on those two. I have a feeling our mysterious fox-face may have something up his sleeve.

I have such a big wish-list for the last volume that I just don't see how it will all happen. I'm hoping for a Gin backstory, some badassery performed by Byakuya, Kenpachi, and Renji, and a monumental epic battle with Ichigo and Aizen. Oh! And if Grimmjow and Ulquiorra magically appeared to help take down Aizen that would be amazing too. Is that too greedy? Yes, I'm a greedy little bastard. Well, I can wish, can't I?

Favorite Characters ... so far:
* Byakuya Kuchiki
* Renji Abarai
* Isshin Kurosaki
* Kisuke Urahara
* Ichigo Kurosaki
* Jūshirō Ukitake
* Kenpachi Zaraki
* Grimmjow Jaegerjaques
* Ulquiorra Cifer
* Yoruichi Shihōin
* The Vizards (especially Shinji)
* Sajin Komamura
* The Great Desert Bros. (particularly Nel)
* Ikkaku Madarame
* Tōshirō Hitsugaya
* Gin Ichimaru
* Sōsuke Aizen

Read in: January 2013 and January 2024.

So Aizen finally busted out of his tampon-shaped cocoon and has a mullet. I got the giggles.

Isshin, Urahara and Yoruichi are still battling with Aizen while Ichigo is sparring with Gin. There appears to be something going on between Gin and Aizen but we don't know yet- it looks like Gin has something up his sleeve, and it doesn't surprise me. He fascinating and creepy at the same time. They leave together to witness the destruction of Karakura Town with their own eyes.

Ichigo and Isshin quickly follow but discover that they have some stolen time to train. Ichigo learns that he must fight Zangetsu in order to learn the final Getsuga Tensho. Of course, this isn't going to be easy. We are left with them fighting.

In Karakura Town, everyone is sleeping but a few people have woken up. Aizen seems really interested in this small group and is following them around (it's bizarre). Then Don Kannonji shows up and I'm dying to see Aizen kill him. However, mid eye roll, Matsumoto arrives to fight. She hasn't completely healed from her last injury, but she had some last minute questions for Gin. Again, Gin shows some curious behavior and quickly incapacitated her. We are left with him returning to Aizen's side...more behind him, as his usual stance. The last image in the volume is the preview for the next volume- and it's Aizen and his silly mullet. It still makes me giggle!

Arrancar: Fake Karakura arc
(ch. (-108)-423, vol. 36-48)

The tears that I cried... in those last 5 chapters.... y'all...........................
The first time I read it, I don't think it really registered because I didn't know know about Gin but now... oh boi!
Also Bleach My Soul is a whole waterfall for me. I even found a drawing I did like 4 years ago of That scene. It still kills me. So beautiful though...

I don't know if I mentioned this yet but one of my favourite secondary characters is Hisagi Shūhei... I love him like SO MUCH. I'm glad he was in this arc ily Shūhei if no one else loves you, I do

The only complaint I have is that THERE AREN'T ENOUGH FEMALE CHARACTERS. They all kick ass but there's so few of them and whenever there's more than one they end up fighting each other... like, they can fight against men too, you know... they can win that too....

One thing I’ve always loved about the manga, is that each volume opens with a poem relating to a character or storyline, and the one featured here was especially fitting. I loved seeing Aizen enter the real Karakura Town as it raised the stakes, having this god-like villain enter the human world occupied by all the innocent side characters introduced in the first arc. I liked how Ichigo’s dad used the world-between-worlds as a time chamber to train Ichigo for three months within the span of one hour in Earth time. Getting a small glimpse at Gin and Rangiku’s relationship was interesting, and it’s quietly confirmed that Gin does have ulterior motives and a unique relationship with her. I loved seeing the human characters navigate such a strange situation with almost zero context, especially seeing them run from a god-like being in a Karakura Town where everyone is either dead or asleep. I liked how this volume slowly moved towards the climax of this arc while reintroducing several important elements.

All hands on deck for the final confrontation with Aizen and Gin. Ichigo vs Aizen and Gin works great because Ichigo is in such a sour mental state and both of them work to wear him down.

Kisuke and Yoruichi are always great fun and it’s a delight to have them on the pages again, even if Aizen handles them pretty easily. Isshin returning, revealing himself to Ichigo and prompting him into the “final” getsuga tensho is the biggest development, if not Aizen’s demonstrative masterminding.

Bleach really hits peaks whenever Zangetsu is given time to shine, to lead Ichigo in trials by fire. I really love the internal machinations that become a focus in Bleach, and grow with the characters.

All roads lead back to Aizen vs Ichigo in the Soul Society, at their highest level. Hype!!

I've now marathoned through six volumes of Bleach in 2-3 days and let me tell you, if you thought the Karakura Arc was crazy to begin with, it only gets crazier the further it goes. I can only hope my local library hurries up and gets me more of this because with cliffhangers like this one, I don't think I can handle the wait.

Keeeeee-rist, this manga. It's turning into a sword-swinging smorgasbord of characters running into each other with Aizen and Ichimaru at the helm of everything and poor Ichigo getting railroaded by everyone in sight. Luckily, the manga has blasted through the interesting but overblown Captains Vs Espada part of the Karakura Arc and we're back in the meat of - wait, hold the phone, A TRAINING ARC IN THE MIDDLE OF A BOSS ARC?!? Tite Kubo, king of trolls, you got me again.

PS - Where in holy hell is Renji? And Rukia? And why isn't Orihime healing folks? Geez, the people you forget about when Kubo takes his sweet time running through his precious Espada fights.

Given that Manga, and especially Shonen is split up into bigger arcs as composed to volumes I will be analyzing and reviewing this by Arc. I also reread this manga over the span of 2 months, some days reading as much as 100 chapters a day. It would be quite tedious for me to review each 7-8 chapter volume. So this will be copy and pasted throughout all of the 72 manga volumes. That being said, if you're looking at this without having viewed the series...spoiler warning. I don't recap anything, but I also mention things that happen. If you want me to answer the question "Should I pick this up?" Yes. Even if you stop at the end of the Soul Society Arc. It's worth it.

Karakura Town Arc - Chapters 1-56 - Rating: 7/10
(The official page lumps this in with the Soul Society Arc however I feel as if they are two very separate arcs with two very separate themes)
- A fun introduction.
-An interesting premise on the idea of ghosts and demons (Hollows)
-Does a good job of introducing the characters and I especially enjoyed the love for characters like Chad, Orihime and Uryu as these characters would later lose more and more spotlight as the series went on.
-It is a bit of a monster of the week. When it works, like with Chad's introduction story. It works. But Characters like Don Kanonji felt superficial and very gimmicky. Which, fair. I didn't enjoy them as much.

Soul Society Arc - Chapters 57-182 - Rating: 10/10
-The height of Bleach
-Establishes an afterlife seemingly perfectly. Later on revealed to be full of plot holes and never fleshed out but hey! That's not an issue in THIS arc. The fights are top tier, the themes of Ichigo owing a life debt to Rukia and his passion and determination to rise above literally God's army is inspiring and to this day is why I love Ichigo so much. He doesn't have some grandiose plan. He doesn't have a major goal to accomplish. He is a protector by heart, losing his mother has made him sour to failing to protect those he cares about and he'll do anything in his power never to feel that helpless again. Very powerful stuff.
-The twist near the end of this arc is revolutionary and would make waves for the next 200 chapters onward. A perfect ending and set up for the forthcoming arc.
-The only issues I have for this arc would be Ichigo's lightning speed progression. The guy goes from being able to barely defeat a third seat to besting multiple captains in roughly 100 or less chapters. I get that that is the point and him defeating captains was more of a struck of luck, but progression and pacing wise it feels very unearned and a factor of "for the plot he needed to be this strong" It only seems as fast as it is because Ichigo's progression slows drastically down for the rest of the story moving foreword so it's only now that I make that criticism.
-Also, and this will be an issue in most Shonen. There are 13 Captains with 13 Vice Captains and seats that branch all the way to 10 I believe? Regardless, there's a fudge ton of characters that are introduced here and it can get a little jarring at times. Luckily, Kubo does a great job at making their designs and characters unique despite such a large cast.

Hueco Mundo Arc - Chapters 183-423 - Rating 7/10
-This is another arc where personally I would split it up into two separate arcs. But for the sake of this review I will simply refer to the first half of the arc and the later half of the arc. First Half 9/10. Second Half. 5/10.
-The first half of this arc is a great continuation of the last. Ichigo now struggles with his inner demons and it affects his ability to protect the ones he loves. We are also introduced to a deadly unknown new villains. The Arrancars/Espada to this day remain one of my favorite villain factions in all of manga enemies.
-Just so you're aware I would say the first half of this arc ends right around the point of Ichigo vs Grimmjow. Grimmjow is one of the first Arrancar that Ichigo faces. And he's also one of two Espada that he faces three times. The conclusion of that fight shows Ichigo conquering his inner demons. Where Grimmjow is very much fighting to establish himself. Grimmjow has to fight Ichigo to prove to his fallen comrades that he is as good as he says he is. He doesn't care about Aizen, he doesn't care about the rest of the Espada. It is very personal for him. For Ichigo, Orohime is within his grasp of saving and he views this as his "final" battle. It's my favorite fight in all of Bleach.
-However, this is where things start to take a bit of dip in quality in my opinion. We had a goal and we were striving towards that goal. Each character of the original cast coming to repay the debt they made to their friend who had risked her life to save them in the Soul society arc. But somewhere along the way it seems we just had a fighter fest. Captains would face enemies with no themes or character revelations. The Espadas got a little light but nothing that made their fights compelling. You almost just feel bad for the Espada as they were monsters turned into a military force by an unstoppable tyrant. But even that wasn't enough to make half of the fights interesting. Now, that's with knowing the outcome. These fights played little importance in the larger scheme of things. Where at least in the Hueco Mundo fights each match up had the protagonists striving for a goal. Rukia to defeat Aaroneiro to free her former superiors soul. Byakuya to defend Rukia. Renji and Uryu teamwork. Nel to protect Ichigo and get revenge on Nnoitra. Whereas Stark fought Kyoraku.....cause.....and Hitsugaya fought Halibel because Water vs Ice would be cool.
-This leaves me to the end. I won't say it wasn't satisfying that Ichigo was able to defeat Aizen. And yes, I do feel like his new power was earned. 3 months of training. But this was clearly a last minute decision to save Aizen for a later date and the show must go on. I do feel like it wasn't as satisfying as 200+ chapter buildup needed to be.

The Fullbring Arc - Chapters 424-479 - Rating: 8/10
-A very underrated arc. And yes, I acknowledge that rating wise I think the Fullbring arc is superior to the Hueco Mundo arc. That is mostly true. Though I like the first half of the Hueco Mundo Arc more than the Fullbring arc. The end of the HM arc really brought it down for me. The Fullbring Arc is much more concise and is actually the shortest arc in the series and works as a glorified Ichigo getting his powers back arc. But that doesn't mean its bad.
-When I read it originally back when it was coming out in 2010. (Cause I'm Old) It wasn't phenomenal. In fact, I hated it. But wouldn't you? It took just short of a year to get to the point that we were at. But upon rereading it, it gave much deserved love to the characters who hadn't been shown love in quite some time. The original cast. It was a very character focused arc. Ichigo never seemed more human. And despite me hating it before for taking so long, reading weekly can sometimes hurt these mystery based arcs. The twist is heavily foreshadowed and I really appreciated it.
-That being said, the end was super rushed. This was a big bummer for me. The villains this time around were humans. And the ones who had the most exposure and relations with these characters were the original cast who again....were humans. So to have the soul reapers, who have no connection to the fullbringers show up and basically no diff most of the fullbringers felt very forced and fanservicey to me. This very well could have not been Kubo's call. As the community was very vocal about their dislike for this arc as it was going on. But I appreciate it now much more as I appreciate character and story over big sword fights. Lol.

The Thousand Year Blood War Arc - Chapters 424-689 - Rating: 5/10
-And we're finally here. The final and largest arc within the Bleach story. And man...does it not stick the landing.
-That being said, this arc has phenomenal moments. Kenpachi's Shikai and Bankai. Ichigo's double swords. Renji's true Bankai. Rukia's Bankai. And many more. However, they are put together against the most break neck speed arc that I have ever read. Kubo was very ambitious when he introduced 26 new villains. However, most of them got barely any screen time and a lot of them even got off screened by higher level captains. This was unlike the Espada who each got a full double page spread for their Resurrections.
-Yhwach himself was a phenomenal villain but was dealt with swiftly and imo dirty. They did him dirty.
-There was just something off. The mood changed and it was very apparent. The villains had random powers instead of the powers reflecting their personalities or needs. The finale felt so underwhelming.
-Ichigo gets to be the strongest he's ever been....but he doesn't defeat a single person besides the main villain despite being in several fights.
-It isn't a good arc. In fact, I would say it's the worst. Hopefully the anime does a better job with this already mammoth of a story. 260 chapters is no joke.

This gives the story of Bleach an Overall rating of 7.4/10. Which to me is above average. It has it's ups and downs. It's not perfect. But when it's high, it's peak shonen. But when it's low, it's very forgettable.

It was great. The story is coming to a conclusion and I can't wait to see Aizen get defeated. I want to see if Tensa Zangetsu teaches Ichigo the Final Getsuga Tensho to be able to defeat Aizen. What would happen to Ichigo's friends? Hopefully Ichigo gets there in time before his friends get hurt. I want to read how much stronger Ichigo is than Aizen. What about Gin? What is gonna happen to him?
With the combine efforts of Urahara, Isshin, and Yoruichi they still could not defeat Aizen how much stronger can he become. Gin is being his usual creepy self and trying to scare Ichigo into running away and it looks like Ichigo is losing hope. Then Isshin comes and intervenes and knocks some sense into him and he is back and will do everything to protect Karakura Town where Aizen and Gin had just escaped to. Isshin then explains to Ichigo that he is going to teach him the final Getsuga Tensho while they are in the dangai and he will try to stop the flow of time while he's training. He will have to get into his mindscape and ask Zangetsu about it and make him tell him how to do it.
Aizen and Gin arrive at Karakura Town in the Soul Society. There are some humans that have awoken from their sleep and try to figure out what is going on and find others like them. Keigo and Tatsuki find two other friends and try to get them to the school while they find their other friends. They run into Aizen and GIn and try to run away from them but Aizen tells them that they are going to die. Don Kanonji arrives and tries to help them but almost gets himself killed and them Rangiku arrives and gives them enough time to escape find somewhere to hide Rangiku is there to confront Gin and finally ask him why he betrayed her and everybody is the Soul Society and he ends up attacking her and tells Aizen that she is dead.
In Ichigo's mindscape he encounters osmebody that he has never seen and reveals himself to be Zangetsu in his bankai form Tensa Zangetsu. Ichigo asks him about the final Getsuga Tensho but Tensa tells him that he will never tell him what it is. They start fighting and Tensa tells him that he has lost hope and he has stopped moving forward. He is afraid of his hollows form which takes a new form the form he used to defeat Ulquiorra. Tensa and the hollow combine tells Ichigo that they are both his powers and continue to fight. Tensa tells him that "What you want to protect is not what I want to protect!" I hope Tensa Zangetsu gets to elaborate on that statement and find out the truth in why he refuses to teach Ichigo that final getsuga tensho.

Kira watches in disbelief as a very wounded Matsumoto ignores her injuries to go to the battle between Gin and Ichigo. Meanwhile, the new—but not improved—Aizen is still deep in conversation with Kiskue and Yoruichi. As usual, Aizen is condescending and laughs at their attempts to battle him. And then Isshin unexpectedly arrives.

Just as Gin threatens to kill Ichigo there and then, Aizen appears, having broken out of his chrysalis form, and asks what he’s doing, to which Gin replies he is only playing with the boy. Aizen orders him to open the Senkaimon and they take their departure. As they pass through, Aizen the arrogant decides he wants to play with the Kototsu, desite Gin’s warnings that is not a good idea. But Aizen gonna do what Aizen gonna do. When Isshin and Ichigo follow, Isshin realizes what Aizen has done, and he knows just how to use that to their advantage. He can train Ichigo in the final stage of his Bankai. Thanks Aizen!

And now back to the actual Karakura Town… Keigo awakens to a surreal sight. Everyone in town is sleeping in the streets. What is going on here? Hysterical, he begins to run around, yelling for people to wake up. Luckily, he runs into Arisawa, who calms him down with a quick but effective punch. They begin to gather their friends and take them to safety as obviously something is very wrong here. Meanwhile, Isshin holds down the fort while Ichigo meets with Zangetsu for his training. But this isn’t the Zangetsu he is used to.

Gin and Aizen have arrived in Karakura Town, and they run into Keigo and Arisawa. Gin tells her, “You seems to be in some trouble, girl. You should call for a hero at a time like this.” And just like that one arrives, one we’ve not seen in quite some time. But can he really be the hero that is called for? And is he enough to stop Aizen and Gin? Common sense says no.

We seem to be nearing the end of this arc. How it will end is still up in the air. Of course, the good side will prevail, but just how they’ll do it remains to be seen. I really enjoyed watching Ichigo train with Zengetsu. You have to respect him for doing what is right, even though he understands the price that is attached to what he is doing. And the unexpected reappearance of both Don Kanonji and Fro Man was great! The scenes with Keigo and Ichigo’s other friends was a bit of comic relief in an increasingly dramatic arc. From the beginning, they said only Ichigo can beat Aizen. We’ll see how true that may be in the next volume. Can’t wait!

Bleach, Vol. 47 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (405–413) of the on-going manga series.

After the Hōgyoku completes his evolution, Sōsuke Aizen defeats his opponents before leaving with Gin Ichimaru to the real Karakura. Isshin Kurosaki takes his son, Ichigo Kurosaki to the Dangai Dimensional Route between the Soul Society and the world of the living where time is slower.

After realizing Aizen had destroyed the Dangai's cleaner, Isshin decides to teach Ichigo the means to obtain the Final Getsuga Tenshō by using the dimension's time for a three-month training that will last an hour outside the Dangai.

To begin the training, Ichigo goes into his inner world to learn the ultimate technique from Zangetsu. However, dealing with Zangetsu in his younger Tensa Zangetsu state, Ichigo finds himself also facing his inner Hollow's Bankai state as the two entities combine into their true form as the personification of Ichigo's full power.

In the real Karakura, Aizen goes after Ichigo's friends to kill them before creating the Ōken while Rangiku Matsumoto confronts Gin over his reasons for betraying the Soul Society. However, Gin seemingly stabs Rangiku before returning to Aizen's side.

This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. Once again, it seems like Ichigo Kurosaki goes under heavy training in a dimension where time is slowed, so Ichigo could reach his next level of power. Meanwhile, as this is happening, Sōsuke Aizen and Gin Ichimaru is heading towards the real Karakura Town to reek destruction, starting with Ichigo's friends, before creating the Ōken – the key to the royal house where the Soul King resides.

All in all, Bleach, Vol. 47 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems intriguing and I cannot wait to read more.

VOLUME 47: CHAPTER 405-413
Arc 9: Arrancar: Downfall

Kira saw Rangiku walk away. He knows that Rangiku's wounds are not completely heal yet. Urahara, Yoruichi and Isshin attack Aizen but still have no effect. All of them were defeated and Aizen meet Gin and they ready to go to the real Karakura Town in Soul Society. Aizen's chrysalis period have ended. In the Dangai, Aizen destroyed the Koutotsu, the reiatsu train. Later, Aizen and Gin arrived at the real Karakura Town.

Ichigo and Isshin pursued Aizen and Gin. They realized that there is no Koutotsu anymore. Isshin said that is the best place to teach Ichigo the Final Getsuga Tenshou as the Dangai is the place where time and space separate from the real world. They will train for 2000 hours in the Dangai that means only 1 hour passed in the real world. Ichigo meets a younger version of Zangetsu as he enters his consciousness while in Bankai. The younger version Zangetsu named himself as Tensa Zangetsu and refused to teach Ichigo the Final Getsuga Tenshou. Ichigo also meets himself in a complete Hollow form. Ichigo must fight against the fused form of Tensa Zangetsu and his Hollow form.

In Karakura Town, all people were put to sleep. Asano awake and found Tatsuki. They tried to gather all of their friends. Suddenly, they come across with Aizen and Gin. Don Kanonji appears and confronted Aizen. Rangiku arrived at the critical time. Gin take Rangiku away and Rangiku was collapsed. Aizen found Tatsuki and Asano's hideout along with their other friends.

After some high-octane action of the previous two volumes, volume 47 slows it down a few notches. Aizen makes his way to the real Karakura Town and Ichigo's friends (and acquaintances) make an appearance dealing with their newfound circumstances. Meanwhile Ichigo and his dad use the (totally not Hyperbolic Time Chamber) Dangai to teach Ichigo a new technique. This is a much-appreciated break that let's Tite Kubo pump the breaks a bit to check in with where the characters (or, more specifically, Ichigo and his friends) are at mentally. For some it could very well be an anti-climactic volume that just pads time out. But personally I like the way it plays out- Aizen gets to 'win' the battle in the Fake Karakura Town, and Ichigo gets a chance to power up before challenging him again. To have Ichigo once again pull a power-up out of nowhere in the middle of the fight would be a cheap ending, and Kubo at least dedicates some chapters to making Ichigo earn it.

Aizen's masterplan continues to unfold as he warps to the next phase of his plan with his newly-acquired powers. In the meantime, Ichigo needs to uncover his hidden powers in all the years of training he skipped to defeat Aizen.

There's a healthy dose of comedy fused into what seemed like a dramatic filler arc that made this volume a joy to read through, especially with the return of certain silly characters that you never thought you'd see again.

It's a bit scary to know that mangaka Tite Kubo's epic arc is closing in on its end but it's also exciting to finally see what's going to happen and where things will go afterward.

Aizen defeats them all and goes back to Soul society to make the key i the Karakura town there. Isshin and Ichigo go there to but first they go to the Koryuu and he wants his son to train with Zangetsu and obtain the final form or attack -JINZEN. And Ichigo does go in that state meanwhile when he does, he learns more about the nature of the hollow and Zangetsu and how Ichigo has been taking powers from them both and now he has to defeat them as they combine. More revelations are coming. Meanwhile Aizen vs Ichigo's friends which just feels like filler but interesting stuff with Gin and Rangiku. It was a good volume, decent art and Aizen looks like a villain for real.

4.5 stars. Still leading up to something bigger but things are starting happen. Ichigos hometown friends are special. They are awake and have some sort of power. They sense aizen even though the soul reapers can’t. Why is matsumoto feel something towards gin? Cool to see ichigo training to get a new power up. His dad training him and giving him some info is much needed a better way for his character to be used. Icchin is strong but I feel he has restrictions placed. How does aizen know so much about ichigo and his life future?
Overall fun chapter. I didn’t expect don kanoji to appear. Don’t know what I think about him being here…

This is going to be the first volume that I give 3 stars to I think. I am enjoying the ending but I just didn't need all the Karakura Town people. I understand that they are supposed to be a form of motivation for Ichigo but just knowing they were there should be enough. I DID NOT need Don Kanonji trying to throw hands at Aizen. Just stop, honey. Kubo usually has great comedic relief (see Kisuke and Yoruichi earlier) but this felt so out of place in a time of turmoil.

It's kind of sad how Mizuiro closes off himself from Keigo once Ichigo isn't around despite being friends since a long time ago. But his resourcefulness is interesting to watch as he throws items at Aizen without fearing for his life.

The human characters proved to be of comedic relief after several volumes of fighting.

Interesting to note that Isshin also uses Tensa Zangetsu but his Zanpakuto is named slightly differently.
