This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
The main characters were all praying Christian men and women, sometimes saying they will pray and at other times stopping what they were doing to pray out loud.
There was a bit of romance mixed in with action.
The couple were old friends. There was no “getting to know you” and lots of knowing how the other would react. The mystery-suspense portion was believable and intense, but not too intense.
This book about a veterinarian a dog and a Poland his K-9 dog is worth the read. Touch and go few times with a beautiful marriage proposal ending. Good read. Big D
This is a story of a young police officer who with his faithful companion was helping a young veterinarian fix up a dog that was brought to the in clinic with several wounds one of them bleeding very badly. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Frozen in Jeopardy, book 2 in Melanie D. Snitker's Danger in Destiny series, the small Texas town gets caught up in a drug war that nearly claims the lives of longtime friends Paige, the veterinarian, and Gabe, a police officer whose partner Loki is a German shepherd with an infallible nose and unshakable loyalty to his human. Loki has helped Gabe numerous times already. When a desperate man begs Paige to tend to his wounded pit bull during a rare Texas snowstorm, she treats what appears to be a stab wound and wonders whether the dog was defending herself or someone else. When the body of the man who dropped her off is found the next morning with several stab wounds, it seems the dog was protecting her owner. The dog is microchipped, but it isn't registered. Serena the vet tech calls the pit bull "Jane Dog" and Paige shortens it to "JD", but the dog needs a name, and the officers who go to the dead man's home find nothing with a dog's name on it. Paige's best friend Megan, who's going to marry their friend Bryce soon, is watching While You Were Sleeping with Paige and suggests Lucy, the name of the lead character in the movie. Lucy it is! Paige responds to Megan's hints about Gabe by explaining, at great length, that because of his dangerous job, they can only ever be friends. Megan smiles knowingly. Meanwhile, as Bryce's future best man and escort to the maid of honor, Paige, Gabe fends off hints by Bryce and protests, maybe too much, that they are just friends because Paige swore off romance with anyone in the military or law enforcement after losing her soldier brother and police officer uncle in quick succession. Bryce smiles knowingly. After the senior veterinarian arrives, Paige leaves the clinic and is immediately rushed by a man wearing all black. She makes it back inside and waits for things to calm down, only to realize she's being followed home. Too smart to lead her pursuer to her house, she circles back and calls Gabe for advice. She heads for the fire station and, as Gabe predicted, the vehicle stops tailing her. The next day, however, Lucy growls at the front door and Paige sees the same car that followed her, parked across the street. Maybe Lucy is territorial--or maybe the driver of the car stabbed her. Paige isn't sure, but she and Gabe are both relieved that the barking dog scared away the person who may have tailed her from the clinic. The police, with help from Loki, find the driver of the car, and Paige sees that he's the man who attacked her in the clinic parking lot! He's taken into custody but kills himself before questioning can start. Now they're almost back to square one. Almost, but not completely. The medical examiner, Eve, has found a coin-like object in the dog-dropper's pocket and discovered that it opens up. Inside is an encrypted SD card that requires a passkey none of them have. The SD card must have data on it that Paige's attacker wanted badly enough to kill the dog's owner and wound the dog to get it. He failed, though, and the SD card is now at the Destiny Police Department building! Disturbed by being stalked and attacked, Paige lets down her guard enough to ask Gabe to stay at her place so she doesn't have to stay there overnight. Despite their mutual attraction, they stay in different rooms (Gabe even sleeps on the floor when her sofa proves too bumpy for sleep!) and there's no late-night drama. Maybe the K-9 vehicle in the driveway deterred any would-be criminals? Bryce and Megan's wedding day arrives, and when Paige reiterates her "no military, no law enforcement" creed, the bride gently tells her to get over herself. Bryce runs into burning buildings, yet she loves him despite--no, because of--his willingness to risk his life in helping others.Surely Paige can give Gabe the same grace Megan's giving Bryce! Paige frowns in confusion. Then she senses a change inside. While Megan and Bryce are honeymooning in the tropics, Destiny suffers its second major snowfall.of the year--5 inches--and the police many cars driven off the road by Texans used to lows in the 40s, not snowy conditions! Gabe, meanwhile, heads to the clinic to check on Paige. While he's there, another officer, Paul, shows up unexpectedly to "make sure everything is OK". Gabe senses something "off" and sends Paige to the surgery room with Serena. Paige, however, sneaks into the senior vet's office and takes his shotgun from its cabinet. When challenged by Gabe, Paul drops his friendly mask and demands the return of the "mutt" from the clinic--Lucy. Gabe hides behind the check-in desk, and the two men who came with Paul begin firing at the desk. Gabe sees Paige with the shotgun and tells her when to shoot. Who's risking her life to help others now? Snitker's depiction of the bond between a K-9 officer and its human partner, the fortitude of women married to men in high-risk jobs, the dedication of best friends, and most importantly the importance of faith in everyday life, rings true. Recommended!
Frozen in Jeopardy was so good! I was looking forward to Paige and Gabe's story after the first one in the series, and it didn't disappoint! It starts with a bang and it doesn't stop, hooking you in the case that's going on, and making you want to find all the answers. I did see a couple of things coming (or how they were related) before they were shown in the story, but there were still some plot twists or revelations that I didn't see coming. The research is so well done, especially considering that this book features a K-9 partner for Gabe (Loki) and an unexpected pittie sidekick for Paige. I loved seeing those two in action (him as a police officer and her as a veterinarian), as well as figuring things out in their friendship. Of course, it was nice seeing past characters from this series (Bryce and Megan, as well as Chief Arnold Dolman and his wife Chloe, since this community truly feels like a real family. Honestly, if you're looking for a great Romantic Suspense series that has a light Christian thread but still delivers on the action, investigation, and romantic moments, you can't go wrong with this one. I'm so excited we get Eve and Paris's next! ~ 5 stars
Content: Romance: just kisses Language: none Violence: stab wounds (both to a person and animal), gunshots and related wounds, a dead body is found (no gruesome/gore details). No animals die. Christian faith: mostly prayers.
"The radio came to life as dispatch announced a report coming in from the Destiny Animal Hospital, including an abandoned animal, possible stabbing and an attempted assault. Gabe was instantly on alert. Paige, one of his close friends, worked there. He had no idea if she was in the building now, but the possibility that she might be and hearing the words "stabbing" and "assault" brought up images he forcibly shoved aside."
As a K-9 officer, Gabe is used to being around dogs. So is Paige the veterinarian. But when a dog is dropped off by a man who soon flees the scene, they both begin to wonder what is happening. Is the dog a witness to a crime? Circumstances are suspicious.
Trying to figure out what was happening and why it was happening to Paige was challenging. I loved how the mystery was set up. Maneuvering around in winter was certainly hard. The book had a very creative plot. The book set up such an interesting scenario. The dog was in danger more than the people.
This is a friends-to-more romance. I always like it when two people have history before they connect. How Gabe looks out for Paige is really sweet.
I have really enjoyed the "Danger in Destiny" series. While one could follow along and read this title first, the books do go along with each other. I am glad that I read them in order. I plan to read every book in the series.
This is a new author for me and one i will put on my list to read more of her books. She brings the characters to life and their trust in God. She adds a danger and a twist which I enjoy. In this book you meet Paige, a veterinarian and Gabe, a k9 officer. Paige is planning on closing the animal clinic when a man pulls in with a wounded dog and before Paige can get any information, the man is gone. After treating the dog, Paige decides she will stay the night and goes to get her bag out of her car. On the way back in she is attacked. Thankfully her Vet Tech is still there and before long Gave is on the scene. This is when the strangeness begins. A car follows Paige home, then later someone scopes out her home. Gabe decides to stay close to the woman he loves but has never declared his love for. As they each pray for Gods guidance and protection, things keep happening. Can they find out what is going on? Can they discover why the wounded dog is so important? Can they come out of this alive? Will they finally declare their love for each other?
Title: Frozen in Jeopardy Author: Melanie D. Snitker Publisher: Dallionz Media, LLC Series: Danger in Destiny Book 2 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review: "Frozen in Jeopardy" by Melanie D. Snitker
My Thoughts:
'Frozen in Jeopardy' was indeed an enjoyable read from start to finish. It was so good seeing Gabe and Paige finally getting their story told, which involved an officer of the law. These two had feelings for each other, but Paige had declared not to get involved with the military or a Cop person. But as these two come together, something may have changed for Paige in how she felt toward Gabe. Then, bringing those dogs into the picture and all the other suspense in this story put the icing on the cake for me.
I don't want to tell you too much other than to say to pick up 'Frozen in Jeopardy.' You will be happy with this exciting, good read that will keep you turning the pages until the end.
This is a clean, Christian suspense romance novel. It is part of a series, but can be read as stand-alone.
Paige is working at the vet’s office when a dog that’s been stabbed comes in. Her friend, Gabe, a local police officer, comes to check. Then someone is trying to get Paige and Gabe is trying to keep her safe. She hasn’t been back friend-zoned him as she hasn’t wanted to date anyone in law enforcement. Can Gabe keep her safe? Who’s trying to kill her and why? Can Gabe work past her defenses and change her mind about him?
This was another great story with a lot of twists and turns. It had me on the edge of my chair trying to figure out who and why. It kept me guessing until the end. Definitely well written.
I loved this audiobook. I know I say that every time just about because I do. I love listening to books. I very rarely listen to one I don’t like. You can read the blurb and see what it’s all about but I will say you will hardly be able to quit listening if you have something you have to do. I was hooked from the first few paragraphs. I loved the characters and how complex they are. You never know what to expect and there are plenty of interesting things happening. Romance, inspirational and a heart pounding read. I recommend this romantic suspense book to my friends and family who love to read. I received a copy from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I love this series! Paige and Gabe have been friends for years. She friend zoned him back in high school but that didn't stop them from having feelings for each other. A romantic, mystery suspense filled story that kept me on the edge of my seat. A different kind of love story as these two already know each other so well but get to spend time together under tense circumstances. I believe they are a perfect fit for each other. There was an added bonus of Loki and Lucy who made the story even better - you have to read to find out who they are. One amazing ending. Looking forward to book 3.
Whenever I pick up a book by this author, I KNOW it will never disappoint! This book was full of action and suspense. It was realistic and I really loved how/why the dogs were involved. Gabe and Paige are longtime friends. When Paige is attacked at her vet clinic, the ball starts rolling to involve Gabe, a police officer with K-9 partner Loki, deeper into Paige's personal life. Though Paige swore off marrying anyone in service, will the two of them have a chance to explore the feelings they are developing for each other? Grab this book and find out! You will be glad you did! I received an advanced e-copy of this book from the author. All opinions in this review are my own.
Paige is a vet who has stayed at her clinic overnight to help any injured animals in the storm that is raging. An injured dog is left at the clinic and not long after Paige is attacked. Gabe is a police officer who is also her friend. He responds to the incident and together they begin to work out why she was attacked. Was the injured dog a clue? This is a fast moving book which has the added element of friends to more. Definitely worth getting this series and I’m already looking forward to the next one!
Frozen in Jeopardy is a fast paced, Christian, suspenseful romance! Long time friends Paige and Gabe find themselves in the center of a fierce winter storm trying to save the life of Loki, Gabe's canine partner. Meanwhile a vicious gang wants to free their member Gabe has captured and will stop at literally nothing to get what they want. Ms. Snitker writes some awesomely suspenseful books that keep me on the edge of my seat, frantically turning pages to see how the story will end. I loved every minute I spent with Gabe and Paige!
Paige pushes away her friend Gabe as a romantic love interest because she’s worried about losing him with his dangerous job but after an injured dog is dropped off at her veterinary clinic and her injured owner runs Paige finds herself chased after and attacked repeatedly. There were several nail bitting moments as Paige and Gabe race to figure out who is after Paige and her new dog Lucy and save themselves from the bad guys before it’s too late. I loved Loki and Lucy who were very protective of their owners. This was a clean Christian romantic suspense.
Romance. Humor. Suspense. Faith. Animals! I mean, what more could a reader ask for in a book, and Snitker has certainly delivered. Frozen in Jeopardy is a wonderful addition to this series, and reader should be ready to be sitting on the edge of their chairs, turning the pages as fast as they can to get to the end. There is tons of action, sweet romance, and enough suspense to leave you wondering. Highly recommend.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book kept me on my toes. Just when I thought something was 'over' something New happened! Fast paced and easy read. I liked being able to read and not have to skip over bad language or sexual situations. This book is very clean and very interesting! I could envision the details as they were described and almost wanted to be right there with them. A friends to lovers theme was throughout the book but so much more as it worked it's way up to the final admission of love! Dogs, bad guys, fun, and suspense all wrapped into one! Definitely worth reading.
This is a story of a policeman and a veterinarian. Our opening scene is when someone comes racing into the veterinary office parking lot traps up his injured dog more or less throws her at the Vet and drives off. The story is written about what happens with the injured dog and how the cop and the Vet's relationship changes from friends to more by how their relationship grows.. There is suspense and fun and love. There is love between humans and love between humans and dogs.
This really is a very good story. When Paige has to Gabe to the clinic because someone tried to attack her, right after a wounded dog was dropped off at the clinic for her to help. Later while on her way home she gets followed and then someone shows up at her house. She calls him back again and he comes over parking his Police SUV right behind her car. Why was someone after her or was it the dog they were after and why? This story is full of excitement and action, I really enjoyed reading it.
Gabe and Paige have known each other since grade school at one point in high school it looked like they would be a couple for life. Then Gabe decided to become a police officer and Paige could not bring herself to have a husband in the line of danger. So friends they would always be - or would they only be friends? When Paige finds herself in trouble and being stalked she turns to Gabe of course. As trouble multiplies and they are together way more than usual can they overcome their differences and follow the same path as their best friends?
Paige, veterinarian assistant, and Gabe, police officer on a K-9 unit, long-time friends, are thrown together during a police investigation.
Christian.
Contains: Blood, death, premarital kissing.
A few of several odd phrasings:
“On the surface, he had a ton of friends and knew everyone. In reality, he cracked jokes because it made people laugh. But it also meant he used that as a defense mechanism, rarely getting to know other kids enough to have true friends.”
“Although it was clear that he was no saint.” Sentence fragment.
“She sobered as what happened shoved itself into focus.”
Wow, another great read and this one had two dogs in it! Only one scene broke my heart, but still truly enjoyed this book. Did not agree with how the proposal went but understood it was wrapped up and a nice ending. Never guessed who the culprits were, but wasn't surprised by that. It was also a nice touch that the main characters from the first book were in the plot. Won't continue with this series, but glad I read the two books :)
Veterinarian Paige stumbles into a mystery when a stabbed dog is left at her clinic. The owner is wounded too but quickly leaves the scene without leaving any info about himself or his dog. Trouble follows Paige after this - she’s attacked in the vet parking lot, followed home and run off the road. Her longtime friend, Gabe who is also a police officer jumps in to help her. They soon discover someone is after the wounded dog, but why?
So so , was my immediate thought when I finished this story. It’s clean, a good plot, but I just didn’t feel any intensity where there should have been. For example we were told about shootings and knifings and finding a body, romance even more, but I didn’t feel any emotion attached to any of these events. So for me the book fell very flat. A good story is one that engages emotions and makes people think. This is not one of them.
I enjoyed the 2 and 4 legged characters. The relationship and love between a K-9 officer and his 4 legged partner was accurately portrayed. The fears experienced by our female heroine were also believable and not without warrant. However, letting our fears dictate our life choices is not truly living. A good, clean novel which teaches us that facing rather than running from our fears leads to freedom. Also, we can never be safer than when we are in the Lord's will and protection.
I enjoy reading Christian romantic suspense books. This is one of the better ones I have read. I like how it feels like you are right there with the different characters. Loki and Lucy were a lot of fun. Paige and Gabe have been ignoring any romance that could possibly be between them. Life gets crazy scary for them for awhile. They come out stronger for it. Looking forward to reading more in this series. Very good mystery story.
I really like that you absolutely cannot work out who is behind the evil in each book of Melanie’s Danger in Destiny (a town in USA) series. The suspense builds and lasts all the way through the story with the twist coming right at the end. Complex plot. Interesting romance. The dogs are the true stars, so well-trained and loyal. The audiobook was well narrated. It’s great listening to this series on Audible. Thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommend.
I love the way Melanie intertwines scripture into the story. That Paige and Gabe seek Gods guidance throughout, praising Him for answers to prayer, realising that God has a plan for each of us even when we mess up he’s there guiding us. Once again Melanie writes an inspiring suspense with lots of twists and turns. The dogs are central to the story and truly are man’s best friend (after God that is).
4/5 STARS! Okay, I am officially obsessed with this series. Like the first one, this is action packed, has a cute love story/slow burn romance, & a really well developed plot. I loved the story in this one because of the cute dogs (Lucy & Loki, come on how perfect) tbh. This is great reading & you won't want to put it down! *I received a free audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
