Pleasant Creek, Indiana, loves its history. Each summer the town sponsors Heritage Day, a festival commemorating the signing of the original town charter. Liz Eckardt couldn't be happier to participate in the star-spangled celebration.

But someone else isn't happy. Antique items related to the historic event are being stolen from Pleasant Creek's people and businesses, including Liz herself. Does the culprit merely want to torch the celebration or is there more to his sinister plot?

Liz and the Material Girls, aided by Mayor Jackson Cross, will have to band together if they're going to pull off this event without anyone getting hurt. Will this year's celebration go down in history? Or go up in flames?

This is an Amish Cozy Mystery, and this is the tenth book in the Amish Inn Mysteries series. I have read and reviewed the first nine books in this series before reading this book. You can read this book as a standalone without any problems in fact this book is really different then the other books in this series. I really love the characters in this series. This book is very different then the other books in this book series. I miss the Inn in this book, but we get more about the town which was fun. I really enjoyed the mystery in this book.

I've been enjoying this series by various authors from Annie's Publishing. This one was another good adventure for main character, Liz, in the small Indiana town where she has many friends, some of them Amish. As usual, there is a murder to solve, and Liz, her friends, and her bed and breakfast feature prominently in the mystery storyline.

This book was quick and easy to read, while being very entertaining.

Whenever I read these books I always picture certain characters as the cast of The Golden Girls. 🤔

Stolen Past is a very interesting mystery written by Tara Randel in the Amish Inn Mystery series. This story explores the true history of Pleasant Creek during the festival that is held each year. This year there is someone stealing historic artifacts from local residents including Liz Eckardt. The person responsible for the thefts ramps up the mystery when they demand an accurate reenactment of the signing of the town charter or there will be serious trouble for the entire town. Liz has been placed in charge of the reenactment and her stress level takes on a whole knew level. As the threats keep coming someone is sabotaging Liz's efforts to follow thru. The person responsible for all this disruption will shock you. A lot of knew information about the history of the town comes to light but is it true?

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Historic objects are being stolen from all over town, from public places and private citizens. Then a strange ransom note is delivered, with an even stranger request. The thief demands a reenactment of the town’s founding. Much happens in this cozy mystery. The delight of this story, as well as the rest of the series, is the continuing growth of the characters as they go about their everyday lives. The mystery is intriguing, but the stories of the characters themselves are even more entertaining.

"Stolen Past (Amish Inn Mysteries #10)" by Tara Randel is slightly 4th of July themed. Mostly in that it's mentioned that the Heritage Day Celebrations are being held in conjunction with 4th of July. However it is more about the Heritage Day theme. This one is also one of the more cozy level mysteries of the series. No murder in this one.

There's plenty of theft, a little arson and a little hostage taking. Liz gets pulled into putting together a reenactment of the original Heritage Day ceremony commemorating the founding of the town after a thief steal the town's historic items and demands it in exchange for the return of everyone's possessions. I had one primary suspect but it turned out to be my back up suspect.

Also, enough of the will the wont they between Liz and the Mayor. We're ten books in and each of the last 3 or 4 books has left their relationship at Liz saying they're just friends but the Mayor has given her a "look" that says they've got more to talk about later along those lines. Well, I feel like we're well past later after the first of those looks.

I found this series while looking for books in a different series by the same publisher. I have been enjoying this series. I liked that in this book, there was not a murder that was being investigated, but rather a series of thefts.

It was also a clever way to give readers some history about Pleasant Creek, Indiana.

Enjoyable read, but the different authors write each character differently. I wish they'd write them more consistently. Otherwise, a good story...but an odd premise, too.
