“The Benefits of Sobriety: Get Curious About Drinking Less and Living More”, by Justin Delarosa explains well how alcohol attacks our brain, heart, liver, and other vital organs. He also describes the other health risks to the body, such as cardiomyopathy (stretching and drooping of heart muscle), arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), stroke, high blood pressure, weakened immune system, and various cancers, as examples. To support his data, Delarosa has cited pertinent literature.
The author begins his writing with a discussion why alcohol is so prevalent in our society. Then he talks in detail about its ill effects. Finally, he cites the benefits of sobriety, like it improves one’s physical and mental health, relationships, finances, and makes one a better partner, parent, and friend.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to step out of alcohol addiction!
I live alone and like to cook. This often means drinking wine whilst cooking, during the meal and afterwards. I can easily polish off a bottle and half of wine every day. Until I visited my doctor for an over 65 health check up and was told that amount of alcohol was way beyond the recommended amounts. I want to stop drinking and the advice in this book was very helpful.
A really down to earth read with some great practical tips. We all make choices, Justin helps with making better choices and understanding the reasons why we should.
