a little dated in places but still a solid read for the inexperienced camper looking to get an idea of where to start

I picked up this book hoping to find a succint description of the essential tools, gear and knowledge for a beginning camper. What I found instead was a diatribe against people who look to the gear and the tools to ease the way in camping and very little in the way of an easy to absorb checklist. I expect I'll have better luck finding what I'm looking for with a Google search. At least it was a quick read.

If Cliff wrote it its worth reading. I had a chance to be on a 8 day canoe camping expedition with him back in 2002. One of the best times of my life. He da man.
