This book executes perfectly what it sets out to do—provide accounting knowledge, case studies, and lay out financial strategies for farm businesses in a concise way. As someone who is relatively new to this sector, never did I find the need to Google an unfamiliar term. Shanks does an excellent job at introducing accounting jargon (or "account-ese", as she calls it) in an accessible way.

Shanks also organizes the pages with graphics, text, and optional reading. I found this layout to be easy to digest, as the variety managed to retain my interest and not make the reading seem too dense.
