Do you know what happens when you try to build a house of cards in a windstorm? It doesn’t work. And if you’re lucky enough to lay a foundation and erect a few walls, it only takes one misstep to throw the delicate balance out of whack and cause the whole thing to fall.
That’s one way to describe what it’s like to date three men. Three handsome, intelligent, quick-witted men. They are also arrogant, sexy, domineering, and overbearing. Did I mention frustrating? Because they can be. One more so than the others.
As for the misstep that will send these precarious new relationships tumbling? I think it’s coming.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.
Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.
These books are killing me! There is no way this story can be completed in just a few more books! The 2 week wait is torture and I’m terrified it’s going to be a hurried ending. I thought i would hate these books. I’ve never read anything so complex and complicated but it has hooked me from the 1st three pages. Sigh. Two. More. Weeks.
An added element of possible danger is added to this volume of Primal Instincts. There wasn’t much; a crumpled card, an over-enthusiastic stranger, and finding out Wayne has not been acting alone. It’s enough to have me intrigued, though.
Journey is starting to feel the strain of dating three men in this book. While she is with one, she is fully attentive to that one and not thinking of the others. That, in itself, makes her feel guilty. It also means that if she’s spending a lot of time with one (Creed) the other two are feeling neglected which also makes her feel guilty. Journey is at the point she feels it may have to be an all-or-nothing situation since she cannot pick one over the others. She has a lot of thinking to do, that’s for sure. But she also realizes that she cannot be the only one doing the work. If the guys want to spend time with her, she expects them to speak up and not wait for her cues.
There is an incident in the last quarter of this volume that involves Wayne the creep (big surprise) and it’s an impetus for Journey to start speaking up for herself in certain matters. Unbeknownst to all involved, it was also an opportunity for everyone to show their hand…and Hawk comes out on top. Not because he was trying to impress Journey, but because his trigger temper at least showed her that she is cared for and that she is worth sticking up for.
Something that came up in this story again is Journey’s original intent to uncover a super secret kink club. One of her best friends is moving back to town and got a job at Primal Instincts. It was strange to me that Journey feels like she’s deceiving Creed with her intent when she hasn’t done anything other than get a job so far. Ever since she started working with them she has been too busy with her new job and her new relationships to pursue the kink club story, so it seems overkill for her to feel guilt or remorse about it at this point. It’s in no way too late to speak up and tell Creed, Hawk, and Garrison how she originally came to work with them.
There are still a lot of balls up in the air. While this type of storytelling (a serial out every two weeks) doesn’t seem to be working for me when it comes to the continuity of the chemistry amongst the characters, it is working at keeping me engaged. I love the characters and like them together in all different variations, I’m just not feeling it as much as I was at the beginning or as much as I usually do with this author.
So each installment I say I'm not going to continue reading bc I just don't get the dynamics of a 4 couple relationship! But each time I one click it bc even though I don't like the reverse hareem or really more than 3 people thing , Nicole Edwards writes a story and characters you fall in love with. I love each of the men and I like Journey. I just wish it was simpler! I mean I can't picture how three men and one lady can make a home, A life and everyone be happy! I am a one man kinda girl, maybe two but that's just easier to understand and picture! This volume not only enhances the relationship but is adding mystery and increased drama. Whose been in Journeys apartment, why is Wayne such a douchecanoe and whose paying him to taunt and torture Journey? I think we get a glimpse of him, the guy John with the hat but why and for what purpose?!?! Stay tuned for the next vol 3-31! 3.75 stars!✌
The more I read of this series the more I love it. Each volume gets better and better. Of course the amount of X rated scenes are exquisite but I love that the story is so much more than that. A hint of mystery plus a little drama keeps me coming back for more. I didn't think I would be able to get into a story with so many characters involved with each other but Nicole keeps it real showing that Hawk, Garrison, Creed and Journey all are struggling with their own place in each other's lives. Real human emotions, jealousy, heartache, all make this story more enjoyable. The relationship between Hawk and Garrison is intriguing. I love those two together and hope to read more in the next installment.
What a damn cliffhanger!!!! I can not wrap my head around this storyline right now. For sure the introduction that someone named John has entered the building. I hate Wayne too!!!! He is getting on my last nerve. He has got to go. I feel bad for Journey and how her emotions are getting the better part of her. I am hoping in volume five things become clearer. I wonder when Nick will come into play and Journey gets a crack as his nasty ex. I want to know when she will let her mom know their names and when she will find out about her parents being apart of the club. When Avery comes what trouble will that stir up? I have a million questions.
NEED, the operative word within the series. Who needed whom most? Not as in waiting but is self assurance. Each of the men want Journey as she settles them. Each in their own way. Can Journey fully comprehend the endeavour or is she riding the wave f sexual domination/fantasies? There are simply so many questions still on what will suffice for them all. What exactly is Wayne’s dealing within Primal Instincts? Who too is the mystery man? The volumes are full of questions. Scorching scenes, emotions, most definitely Domination and high respect for The Alpha ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
We have been through 2 weeks in a total of 2 weeks. She has finally slept with all 3 of the guys now. Creed is working everything the way he wants it to be. If I was Hawk I would be trying to get away from him. He keeps him as far from Journey as he can. I totally agree with Garrison that Creed was getting more time than them. Kinda disappointed with the slow process of the story.
I have now been looking toward to these books every two weeks for the past month and I don't know how patient I can be for the next one.. I am so invested in Journey and her men that I will count down the days until the next book is released. Can't wait !!!
Wow! What a hot ride in Volume 4! A couple of things that happened, I kind of thought would. Several things I did not expect but enjoyed reading! Love me some Garrison and Hawk! How can you not fall for them? Waiting patiently for the next installment to this series.
I’m loving these episodes every other week because I’m really enjoying these characters and I sense there’s some angst and suspense coming soon with a couple of interesting areas in this Volume hinting something is to come. I’m looking forward to the next one this Friday because I’m dying to find out more.
As this goes further, I keep wondering how this can possibly end. Journey is trying to decide how she will figure out what to do with 3 men. She gets with one and tries to keep everything on an even keel and then with all the stuff happening at the office with awful Wayne, she's going to lose her mind...Moving right in to the next one!
Part 4 Beautifuly original. I'm addicted to every word of this unpredictable and edgy storyline. An absolute treat from Nicole Edwards. Some of the best work I've read in years. Binge worthy storytelling for the lover of unconventional romance!
I’m so into this story. I can’t wait till the next one. I love how you are breaking up the story even though it’s killing me waiting.. I hope that Journey finds out more about the relationship between her guys soon.
I love all the books written by Nicole Edwards. It's a bit of a long story, but it's worth getting to the last part. Thank you for making us happy with another story. I hope there will be many more Nicole Edwards books to enjoy.
