Moshe As the Avraham Avinu, or father of the Jewish Mafia, my shoulders bear a heavy burden. The safety of not only my family, but those that have pledged their allegiance to me, is only the tip of the iceberg. I work hard, and I play harder. My brothers, cousins and I are never without willing company, however, our mothers are not shy about voicing their desires for us to find someone that grounds us, balances the bloodshed with unconditional support and love. I've never shied away from my responsibilities, I've never run when I could fight. And despite her many, many rejections, Seril is worth fighting for. Her safety becomes paramount and I will stand between her and danger everytime, willing to go to any length to ensure it. After all, I've got plenty of ammo.
Author's Moshe is book one of the Kosher Nostra series, part of the Covenenat of Ascent. All three series under the COA can be read as standalone, or together for a more enjoyment. This book contains coarse language and strong sexual content. If crude humor, pop culture references, violence, and smexy times are not your matza, please do not nosh.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but I wanted to check out the series when I saw that it was connected to, two other authors who I enjoy reading. I was intrigued to see how these 3 authors will have these 3 crime families work together.
With this being the first one of the Jewish family there was a lot to learn about them. The family basically works like the others, so the premise was familiar. I really liked meeting all of the new people, seeing how they worked together and gave each other grief was fun! They were brutal with each other, yet you knew if anyone came after one of their own, they all would be there.
I really liked how Moshe was stunned by Seril not fawning at his feet and even telling him no! It got to be a running joke in the family and soon they all were headed to Nordstroms to check her out. Even aside from the romantic aspects of this one, Seril really needed a big boisterous clan like this in her life, to have her back, to actually give a shit about her and not cause more problems. I really liked that she found all of that with them. I also liked that Seril didn't go into this with rose colored glasses, she knew what Moshe was, made fun of him for it, even as she was exasperated at times when his job took over. It was great that she had a good relationship with Moshe's mother, because when Seril really needed it, she was there to let her know that yes, sometimes things sucked, but it was worth it. The family was everything.
I liked how this one ended, liked seeing Moshe and Seril happy and I look forward to reading more in this series.
After dealing with a problem in his organization, Moshe needs a new suit. as the Avraham Avinu - the head of the Jewish Mafia, appearance is everything. What he did not expect was to meet Seril. Moshe knows Seril is the one, but convincing her to go out with him is another matter altogether. While everyone else fears him or desires to get a taste of him, Seril is full of sass and shuts him down. Persistence is key though and when a threat to his family puts Seril in danger, he swoops in.
I liked this a lot, I have been reading the 3 crime family trios, but this one really made no mention of it. This was funny, chemistry was great and I liked that Moshe had to stay on his toes with Seril.
Mirrah's new series has started off with a bang!! Warning, you might not want to read in public. This book is hot and hilarious!! Moshe is the definition of a pure alpha man. I was glad to see Seril was able to stand up to Moshe and not let him run over her his personality is one that's not used to being told no but Seril can hold her own with him and that's the type of woman he needs. I was extremely happy to see Seril’s brother get what he deserved. I'm looking forward to seeing the improvement in Seril’s mom with her getting the help she needs.
Had potential at times, but it was really bad at others.
Seril has a hard life. Working two jobs to look after her mother, who has brain damage. When she meets Moshe the leader of the Jewish mafia, they are both attracted to each other, but she sees him as a player. Rightly so as he was only just dating a porn star, nice. After he stalks her a lot, and his family stalks her, she gives in and they fall in love. There’s a tiny bit of danger but it’s soon resolved.
There are parts in this book that I enjoyed but there are huge parts that are really annoying. At the beginning of the book it felt like the author was throwing as many Yiddish words as she could into sentences. Some of them have translations, a lot don’t. So then you have a choice of taking yourself out of the book to translate them, or ignore them. I ignored them. Then there’s Moshe and Seril’s ‘relationship,’ if you can call it a relationship. He sees her, he wants her, he stalks her, he moves her into his compound, they have a lot of sex, and they’re in love. IT’S SILLY! It’s way too fast, they only have a tiny part of a date, (As it was interrupted.) and he moves her into the compound. Her mothers brain damage plot makes no sense. She’s a danger to herself and she locks her in the bedroom at night, but her mother is on her own in the apartment for 8 hours a day while Seril is at work. It makes no sense! She’s either a danger to herself or she’s not.
Then there’s the gross part of the book. It takes a lot to gross me out, but this book managed it a few times. Moshe is leader of the Jewish mafia, he is the avinu. When he first meets Seril he needs a new suit as his is covered with brain matter. 🤮🤮 The author annoyed me a lot with that. There was no need for the graphic explanation about it, several times!!! There’s no need for half the conversation that the family have either. I just don’t believe that a prominent family would discuss sex the way that they do, and his cousins make repulsive remarks about Seril and her parts. I just don’t believe that they would disrespect his future wife like that.
So there you have it. It’s enjoyable in parts, did show signs of promise, but parts are truly awful.
Mafia romcom? Yes! A fantastic read you don't want to miss Moshe (Kosher Nostra Book 1) by Mirrah McGee is truly a romcom with Mafia elements that will keep the reader completely engaged, but the comedic elements provide levity in serious and dangerous moments. To say this book has laugh out loud moments is putting it mildly! I got some very strange looks from my family while reading Moshe's story. The characters, from the Hero and Heroine to all the many family members are simply awesome. There's so much love amongst the family members that you can just feel it floating around off the page. However, from the moment of their meeting, Moshe and Sirel are not on the same page. Sirel is wary and insists she is unavailable while Moshe is determined to make her his. I love these two together. Not only is their chemistry steamy, it's full of fun and flirty banter too. Suspense and danger causes a bit of a riff between our Hero and Heroine, but then close proximity puts much of it to rest. Moshe kind of loses his mind and Sirel has to make a choice. On top of Moshe's family business, there's the sad and difficult life that Sirel has had to lead for many years. With Moshe and the Holofcener Family behind her, there's relief and support that has been lacking, life is just better together. Moshe even takes steps to right the wrongs on Sirel and her mother's behalf. Overall, protective and possessive love is the name game for Moshe and Sirel finds peace in being taken care of and allows her to open her heart. Neither Moshe nor Sirel had a choice in the matter, the heart wants what the heart wants no matter the circumstance. It's a meant to be HEA and there's sure to be more Mafia Family romcom to come! I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
This is the first book I have read that was not centered around an MC or an Italian mafia family . I wondered how the author was going to interpret the Jewish Mafia with the stereotypical alpha male. She did a great job instead of the all hail the president MC where you never contradict the leader , Moshes is able to laugh at himself when he gets teased by his underlings . My one complaint was the ending there was no closure with Moshe and Syril it just ended it felt like we were in a middle of a conversation and it just ended. That was a disappointment to me . I asked myself ok what now , do they marry have a baby what ? I also feel like she should have expanded more on the brother situation in the ending that was a huge let down. I think this will be a good series and I look forward to reading the next one
Cat’s Stats MMC/FMC- Moshe and Seril Genre- Mafia Romance (Jewish Mafia) Length- 175 pages Heat- 🌋🌋🌋🌋 This review is brought to you by the letter C, in honor of the words used whilst naming the parts. Series? Y, and part of a loosely connected series by multiple authors; however it can be read as a standalone. Safety? Y Triggers- Violence, Sex, Language, Phallic Graffiti, Abuse Tropes- He Falls First, Instalove, Simply Mad About The Mob Mewsings I laughed so hard at “Kosher Nostra”, which set the tone for the book. It was hilarious. And sexy, which sometimes involved laughter but always involved heat. But the author knows when to back off on the humor; there were some serious subjects, like Traumatic Brain Injury, that were treated with kindness and respect. I loved the characters and the world building, too. I would happily read this book again.
Moshe and seril are the start to something amazing!!!
I needed another mirah McGee fix and this was perfect!! Seril is so strong and resilient and I love how she never loses herself or doubts herself regardless of her circumstances. And Moshe is exactly what I was looking for in my next bookbf!! He's so sweet and bloodthirsty at the same time. And of course, because mirah would never let us down, his family!!
As always, no cheating, a HEA, a spicy hero and a family we all want to get to know!
I can't wait for the next kosher nostra man (or woman) to find their soulmate!!
I really enjoyed this book. It had drama, a gal who said No more than once, eternal family humor, a mother who is the patriarch of this Jewish family, who every one love's and who has words of wisdom. It is a liter read. I hope Mirrah McGee continues the stories of Ernie and Bailey and Seril's brother and sister in laws, misery and suffering.
Wow, another fantastic story with these four families!! Moshe knew immediately that Seril was meant to be his, the minute that he spotted her in Nordstrom. Seril has been taken care of her mother by working two jobs and paying off supposed lawyers, from the accident that her mother caused. I'm going to let you read the book to see what really happened. The story line flows well and has you turning the page to see what happens next. Happy reading!!
This was my first time reading this authors work, but I can guarantee it won't be the last. I really enjoyed the humor intertwined with the more serious situations, as well as the romance. I'm not one that likes the insta-love type of stories, but there was much more involved with this story. I can't wait to see where the series goes from here. I would recommend this book, series, and author.
Moshe and Seril book is amazing. She is so strong and dedicated to her mama.. and he I'd dedicated to the whole family. I love that we meet the whole family and it has all the feels. you have the angst, the love and definitely the laughs. I can honestly say this is a MUST READ book, and I can not wait to see what comes next.
What a way to start this series! Moshe is the head of the family and he's awesome. This book got my attention from page one, and held it until the last page. Seril wasn't impressed with him, in the beginning; but things changed! Mirrah McGee does not disappoint and there's humor, hot men, and violence (because after all, it is a Mafia series😃), and sex. Anxiously waiting for the next book,
This book was amazing. The sassy woman that Moshe cannot get out of his head and heart is exactly who he needs as his Queen. The characters in this book are funny, lovable and strong. The women of the family really are the backbone and the men know it. Cannot wait to see who falls next. And who gets the marker to the face.
Great start to the series, Love Moshe & Seril! Couldnt get enough. I love that Mirrah kept everything real with the characters. Lots of action, steam, & laughter. I have my eyes on some of the other Family members for future books hopefully *Fingers crossed* & I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
This was my first read by this author, and I enjoyed it. I wasn’t familiar with many terms, but the storyline and characters made up for it. I would have liked to see a bit more action and retribution for the brother and sister-in-law, but all in all, this was a good read, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
I have found my jobs author to read more books from. I think you are going to be a great addition to Cee and Ciara 's books. Even though you all have your own style I think you will continue to create a another great series. Thank you for giving me something good to read and I hope you continue with this collaboration.
I absolutely enjoyed this! Mirrah McGee totally knocked it out of the park with her first venture into mafia romance and I can’t wait for more! Hilarious, sweet, fun, danger-filled, steamy. It really had it all. I am totally looking forward to the next book in this series.
I love Mirrah’s writing style it’s full of humour but with a great plot and every better characters. This bring the first mafia book im of hers I’ve read I was not disappointed it was amazing. I loved the characters and the world building I can’t wait to read more of the Kosher Nostra books x
OMG! I should have known better! I had been putting off reading Ms Mirrah's storytelling until now, for some unknown reason🙄(dumba..) Anywho, I should have known that she was of top caliber because she is endorsed by two of my favorite authors!😍 Well now I'm on it! and I will be reading her stories like I stole something😅
Moshe and Seril's story is awesome. The new Kosher Nostra series is off to an epic start! I can't wait to read more from Murray McGee, Gee Boardman and Ciara St. James. Great story!
Amazing read!! Mirrah does it again, this time with a sexy mob man. This book was fantastic...it had a great plot, a sexy alpha H and a fun h. This is the start of an amazing new series! I can't wait for more!!
I love the first of this series. I found myself laughing, shedding a few tears and yes raging a few times. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Seril and Mo are a great couple to introduce us to the family. Keep up the awesome writing.
This is Moshe and Seril’s story about love and the Kosher Nostra. It is adjusting to a new life for Seril and how love can change the Father of the Koster Nostra.
Not feeling this book. I liked the other books in the interconnected series but Moshe was honestly boring. It ended without knowing it was ending right in the middle of a scene. I really hate when authors just stop with no conclusion. I’m gonna pass on this series.
I've read the first books from each author in this new series and this one might be my favorite, I love Mirrah McGee's humor 😂 it always makes the the rougher parts of the book flow better than most books you might read. Definitely looking forward to the next !!
Moshe is arrogance personified but also sexy as can be. Seril hasn’t had an easy life and is fiercely independent but when she meets him sparks fly, panties melt and it’s on. Great new series by Mirrah McGee part of the Covenant of Ascent.
