Drawing on all kinds of issues raised while serving overseas, this 365 day book traces a lifetime of human experience in varied cross-cultural contexts with lessons learned on the way. Heather grew up in Kilkeel, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, where she and her twin sister attended local schools. At eighteen she went to Dublin to study at Trinity College, where she met her husband, Derek. The Johnstons went to France with their two-year-old daughter in 1981, where, for the next nine years they worked with a Gospel Literature Outreach team. A move to French-speaking Africa followed. As members of Wycliffe Derek worked with a translation team in Burkina Faso, putting the New Testament into Sissala, one of the country's seventy languages, while Heather took on a pastoral care role within the mission's Human Resources department. 'Treasuring the Experiences' is a daily devotional that allows the reader to mark the spiritual milestones along the way that significantly shaped their missionary career.
