History has so much to teach us, and one of the lessons is to be grateful for what we have.
Mary Brewster lived a hard life as one of the first of what we call Pilgrims who settled Plymouth Plantation. Her devotion to her husband sets quite an example for modern-day couples. Granted she lived under much more restrictive social codes and mores than we do today, but her willingness to fill her role as her husband's emotional support is clear. I learned much that I didn't know about the settling of the Plymouth colony and the inspiration of Mary Brewster's life will stay with me for a long time.
I believe this book would be an especially useful tool in schools when studying the history of our country, but it is an interesting read for anyone outside of school as well.
