Gah! SO MUCH HAPPENS and I can’t even say anything about it because spoilers! Let’s just say there is some serious drama, lots of revelations, heated moments, gutted moments, and the closest thing to a HEA Lilith can reasonably manage. I think my favorite thing about this story are the characters. I love all the guardians (good and bad) and Marci’s immortal babysitters. Some great banter. But it’s the return of an old flame that truly ignites this sequel and I was here for it. Highly recommend!

Gorgeously crafted with twists and characters that will melt your heart
Oh, how I loved how this wrapped up! It was well crafted and wonderfully planned. It was easily tied into the first book and you could see how the previous set ups paid off.
Speaking of which, the twist in here broke my heart in the best of ways. Yet, it could only have gone that way. I don’t dare spoil it.
Our main character goes through the ringer in this book. She suffers and struggles within herself about what the best path is to take and even the reader isn’t sure. Morals aren’t clear cut and the answers aren’t easy to find.
This duology was such a joy to read. The characters are created with realism in mind, the plot is carefully laid out and the pay off is worth it all.
Absolutely a duology to own and love over and over again.

Wow! This was the perfect sequel, with so many twists and turns I had no idea what was coming next. The action was packed from the very first page until the last word of the book. This is definitely a series that I would love to see on the big screen. Markus has easily become one of my favorite authors and will get an automatic purchase from me anytime she publishes something new. Her writing flows beautifully and her stories pack a punch and I look forward to the next one.

"My breath echoed in the beat of wings as birds took flight from their night's nests, startled by the sharp noise."
"...I clutched her to my chest but she slipped through my fingers, fading away like a fog under the rays of the rising sun."
"His words conjured scraps of images within my mind, and I closed my eyes as they weaved together like a quilt."
"You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending."

I anxiously waited for the announcement that book 2 was being released.
The world building and character construction by this author is amazing. With the fact that the main character is dealing with earth shattering news about who/what she is at the same time that she is having to protect her family and work to reunite with her sisters in order to save the world, there are lots of plotlines being manipulated throughout the book. I am amazed at how deftly this author keeps all the plotlines going, without losing track or forgetting important information!! The emotional nuances of each character feel completely real, and keep the reader bouncing on the edge of the seat as the final confrontation approaches. I am sorry to see this set end, but look forward to seeing more by the author.

After reading the first book of this duology, I thought I knew roughly where the story would go next. Instead, I was surprised at every turn! Markus did a great job of keeping me guessing as to what was ACTUALLY going on until just the right moment. Turns out, there’s a lot more to many of the characters than previously believed.
The pacing is fast like the last installment, but there are still some moments that are slowed down so the reader can focus on the characters. I wish I could say who my favorite character was, but that would be spoilers!
If you enjoyed the first book of this series, the second will not disappoint. Be ready for high stakes, lots of action, and dealing with all of fate and destiny!

I was so excited to get the second book in this fast-paced duology and see where Marci’s story would take us next! There were surprises at every turn and I loved that I did not predict where the story would go! Marci and her two immortal sisters have been awakened countless times throughout the centuries to fight evil and protect humans. Now she has been awakened again and as she confronts demons, she also faces surfacing memories from her past, and must decide who she truly is. I loved all the revelations we learned about her former lives. There was so much cool backstory that was woven in that made the worldbuilding rich and well developed. I liked Samuel and Sariel especially! I can’t wait to see what author Isabelle Markus writes next! 5/5 stars.

This duology doesn’t skip a beat, picking up right where the action left off with Marci and her immortal companions, facing the ramifications of the heartbreaking choices she made at the climax of the first book in the Thief of Destiny series. Weaving in flashes from her former lives, Marci has to come to terms with who she truly is, and who she is to those who love her most—and those who would do anything to destroy her. Action packed and full of well-constructed lore from a variety of sources, Markus nails the landing with this series. Highly recommend.

A fast-paced read that will keep you flipping the pages! The sequel in this duology starts up right where we left off with the first book ended. The strength we see Maricanna develop in the first book doubles as she navigates through the ever-unfolding layers of her life with her immortal friends AND foes! Marci is forced to confront many of the demons (literally) of her past in order to understand who she is. Highly recommend this read!

As the second in the series I found this book entertaining and with the plot twists and turns, quite the page turner. This author is really coming into her own with this second book, and some great descriptive sequences.

I really enjoyed the first book and so I was really excited to pick up book 2. The book starts exactly where the last one ended and is very fast paced, I must admit I may have preferred a few more moments of breathing space or character connection but it’s a lovely story well told.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this book! The author does a phenomenal job weaving a complex character dealing with end-of-the-world situations. The fact that this woman is a mother and a wife makes Marci completely relatable. Marci is a very nuanced and emotional character that goes through massive transformations throughout this book. But the author never loses the core—a mother fighting for her children's right to grow up, even as she prevents an apocalypse while fighting demons and a past she's trying to hide from.
This book is both thrilling and romantic, with some wonderful mythology thrown in for depth.
