As a psychologist and sex therapist, I'm always on the lookout for resources that inform and captivate a broad audience. "Shameless Sex" by April and Amy is a true gem in this pursuit. This extraordinary book fearlessly tackles the challenging and taboo aspects of sexuality in a way that is enlightening and relatable. It's like having an intimate conversation with a trusted friend but with the added weight of extensive research and insights from renowned sex therapists and researchers. Expert opinions seamlessly weave through each chapter, effortlessly unraveling complex subjects and making them accessible to all. And for those craving even deeper exploration, the book generously offers additional references. April and Amy's skills in creating a safe and inviting space to navigate sexuality is truly admirable. Get ready to be hooked!

I did like this book but not as much as the books I have read from Emily Morse, Emily Nagoski, and Justin Lehmiller. The audiobook reading was very hard to listen to since it sounded mechanical like the authors were reading a script rather than engaging with the content a lot of the time. That said, chapter 7 did give some very practical information that I have not read before from more academic authors. Definitely recommend reading if you like this sort of content but if you are only going to read one book about sex this wouldn't be the one I would recommend. I did still give it 4 stars because I think this kind of content needs to be out in the world and any sex positive content deserves attention.

lots of good info - nothing you can't find in similar books about sexuality, and a little self-promotional, but all the information is helpful and sex positive.

Shameless Sex has some empowering messages and offers a refreshing, sex-positive perspective that encourages self-acceptance and open conversations around pleasure and intimacy. The tone is friendly and accessible, which makes it an easy read.

However, I found that while there were a few helpful takeaways, the content was a bit repetitive at times and didn’t go as in-depth as I was hoping. It felt more like a broad overview rather than a deep dive into topics around sexual wellness and healing.

Overall, it’s a good starting point for anyone looking to explore these topics, but it may leave some readers wanting a bit more depth or guidance.
