If it's in any way related to Captain Kangaroo, it has to be good.

I loved, loved, loved Captain Kangaroo as a kid. Lots of people have a soft spot for Mr. Rogers, but I was never a big fan. Captain Kangaroo, on the other hand, was my dude. He was so kind and gentle and loving. That guy was good! My favorite was when he read stories to all us kids at home.

In any case, my sis and I had a copy of this book when we were little.

Nostalgia feels - alas, doesn’t stand the test of time.

Summary: Rich privileged white boy ends up with the gift he doesn’t need. Way to help him out, Captain Kangaroo!

A sweet friend of mine recently sent me a box of her son's books to my nephew for our nightly reading. I was happy to see a Little Golden Book based on one of my favorite TV shows from the late 70s/early 80s among the treasure trove of reading material.

This sweet book is about the Captain finding a small puppy and going to visit his neighbors to see if the puppy belongs to someone. I adore the camaraderie between the Captain and his neighbors, and just how wholesome this book is. I loved sharing a piece of my childhood with my nephew.
