It's heartwarming just to read the story of two love birds. Also, there are bits of comedy added to the storyline. Hope and optimism are included to stand for in Catherine's journey. Her character is that of a strong woman. Despite the simplicity of the overall story, Diane Merrill Wigginton has provided us with a unique concept. The use of illustrations came as a surprise to me. The idea behind it is exceptional. A Compromising Position is one of the best romance novels I've read. The natural attraction between Catherine and Jake is enticing. Their chemistry is fantastic. Just like all newly romantic relationships, it started awkwardly, but hope was there to keep the promise.

I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are engaging and amazing the connection is undeniable throughout the pages. The storyline flowed easily throughout the pages. A must read!

A Compromising Position by Diane Merrill Wiggington, Catherine is in the high pressured business of politics until recently she was a lobbyist but thanks to a co-workers embarrassing firering she is now Russell‘s campaign manager. Needless to say when she finally makes it home she just wants a glass of wine and to relax so when they knock comes on her door and her new neighbor Australian Jake tries to introduce his self with charm he’s almost certain will work on her something gets lost in translation and everything goes downhill. Thankfully the next time she sees him it will go better. Little does Catherine know but her promotion and close friendship with Russell and his wife has gained the new campaign manager enemies at work what she also don’t know is this enemy wants revenge. Her and Jake’s romance has a staggering start but once it starts it’s one of the best things Catherine has ever had in her life but with those behind the scenes trying to embarrass and bring her down will Catherines happiness last? I only wrote a simplified summary because trust me there is so much more to the story the romance and of course last but definitely not least a person out to get Catherine. My friend recommended I read this book and when reading about it I learned this book has won nine awards and after reading it I can definitely see why..Catherine Jake and Russell‘s wife Angela are such likable characters the story is interesting complex and eventually it gets very twisty I really enjoyed it and thoroughly recommend it I mean let me reiterate this book has won nine awards… That is a lot and once you read it you’ll see why I think this falls under suspense/romance but it’s definitely a romance and I absolutely enjoyed it. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

There are a few books that could capture my attention from the first page itself. A Compromising Position penned by the author Diane Merrill Wigginton is one such book. It's a romantic story. I enjoyed reading the chemistry between Catherine Lawrence and Jake Ryan. Like many lovers, Catherine and Jake didn't get along well when they met.
After Catherine's second birthday, her mother ran out on her and her father. Catherine's grandmother took the place of her mother. Her father moved back to Florida to live with Alice so she could take care of Catherine.
Catherine has lost her grandmother to cancer. Also, one unfortunate night, her father was killed in a road accident. Now Catherine is on her own. She has been following the life plan her grandmother has laid out for her. Becoming the campaign manager to run the campaign of her boss Russell Tillman is a victory for Catherine. Get a copy of this book and read it yourself to know what magic her next door neighbor Jake can do on her.
The storyline is interesting. The cover of this book looks beautiful. The language used in the book is lucid and the story is easy to follow. The dialogs are written nicely. It's an amazing book for light reading. Since romance is my favorite genre, I am glad to get my hands on this book. Go for it without any second thoughts.

A Compromising Position is the first book by Diane Merrill Wigginton that I have read. It is a romance novel.
The main characters of the story are Jake Ryan and Catherine Lawrence. Jake is from Australia. He has just moved to Florida and is a next-door neighbor of Catherine now. Catherine was raised by her grandmother and father. Before her death, Catherine's grandmother laid a fifteen year plan for her and Catherine focussed on it entirely. She followed a strict schedule with no distractions.
When she met Jake for the first time, she was offended by a few of his manners, mainly because of the cultural differences. Jake knew that he had to work more on Catherine to bridge the gap between them.
This book is according to my reading taste. I enjoyed every bit of it. The writing style of the author is amazing. The story is fast paced and I wasn't bored anytime while reading it. The narration is smooth. I would be interested in reading more of Diane's work.

Romance with a twist
As one knows, when it comes to romance, you never know what's going to happen. That's why Catherine avoids relationships and with her ambitious desire for politics who has the time. Trying to be successful and keep her boss out of trouble is enough to keep her busy. Now throw in the new Aussie Hattie that moves in next door and bam it throws her for a loop. Now add in all the other political games that can cause scandals to be a problem. The ride is bumpy and will make you wondering what is going to happen next. It's a great read with a definite twist and turns along the way. You will enjoy this book.

“Compromising Position,” authored by Diane Merrill Wiggington, is a romantic story set in a small town. This would instantly make you part of a beautiful love gradually growing between our central pair, Catherine and Jake. They are poles apart, and the author has well-crafted this with the deatils of their experience and lifestyle. While reading their introduction, you would definitely think, "How would love happen between them?". Catherine, a known workoholic, is on a mission to do her job with perfection when she stumbles upon Jack, an Australian visiting her place, just for a vacation or to know "what to do next" in his life. There is an evident difference in their characters and lifestyles, as well as well described by the author. But this is the beauty of the book, serving the unpredictable to keep your interest growing with each page. I'm happy to see that the author's fantastic creativity is being shared with fantastic books. Reading this writer's work is always a privilege. What a fantastic storyteller this author is. An amazing linguistic trail of romance with moderate pace. If you are looking for an engaging romantic read, this is a suggested pick.

Oh my gosh... this is absolutely adorable. I love a good romance, especially the 'boy next door' trope. I pictured a drop-dead gorgeous Australian man who likes to surf. (Okay, I might have had the Hemsworth brothers on my mind when I read this)
Catherine Lawrence recently got promoted after a guy at her work was let go, making her the new campaign manager. She has a lot more on her plate now, and she does not want to disappoint. I would describe her as a bit of a perfectionist. She likes order and does things systematically. Unfortunately, she lives alone after losing her grandmother, Alice.
Early in the book, she gets a new Australian neighbour, Jake. Attractive, goofy, and persistent in a good way. Even though she thinks he is gorgeous, she doesn't like his attitude and misinterprets a few things he says. This is mostly due to his use of Australian slang. However, the tension she feels towards him soon thaws.
The author has a fantastic way of writing. The story flows very well, and you enjoy every second of it. I found the way Jake spoke funny but realistic. Diane uses Australian terms in his speech, which is where Catherine misunderstands a few things he says. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it as a quick romantic read that leaves you satisfied.

When Catherine lrence is promoted as the company's campaign manager, archnemesis Patricia Grant cannot believe it. She was so sure that she had the boss wrapped around her sultry little finger! But nevermind, Patricia's never been afrid to get her hands dirty and the new plan she's concocted is next level scandalous.
Character-driven, A Compromising Position had an engaging storyline and realistic characters. Catherine, the protagonist, was a good example of how one can get carried away with one aspect of life while totally neglecting the other; compromising ensures a healthy lifestyle. I really enjoyed this novel and feel that both strong-willed and introverted women will find something here they'll enjoy just as much!

Catherine's life truly changes following her grandmother's sickness. She develops feelings for Australian surfer Jake Ryan. But there are issues. To find happiness through all of the ups and downs, the couple must overcome bigotry and make some compromises. The humorous and upbeat tale highlights Catherine's resilience. The couple's huge attraction and Wigginton's writing make this a great romance book difficult to put away. For those who love clean romance books, this one is perfect to dive into. Recommended.

Compromising Position is the story of Catherine and Jake. Couldn’t be any more the opposite, they hated each other. The characters I loved because it made the cliché “Opposites attract” so real. As a person who loves all types of romance novels, this book had me feeling the love between them, even when they refused to admit it. I am officially a fan of this author and looking forward to reading more. A++++ writing and book.

I enjoyed this contemporary romance stand alone novel. It was narrated well by Katherine Beresford. The heroine is a strong, independent , career- driven lawyer. She always put her goals ahead of even a personal life. That changes when she meets the new neighbor. He's a hot Australian surfer dude.This audiobook is entertaining.

There have been many small town, challenged romances in novels, and Wigginton negotiates this genre with clever and innovative fervor. The setting is Florida where beautiful young Catherine Lawrence is involved in small town politics, focused on climbing the ladder while encountering political missteps. Her new next door neighbor is Jake Ryan, a zesty Australian with blunt behavioral responses, and while a chemistry begins to develop between them, Catherine’s obligation to her grandparent’s career scheme make her less open for romantic dalliances with a man like Jake. Jake has insights and follows his heart, and Catherine’s gradual change of heart direction leads to a fulfilling romantic fulfillment.

A sweet and clean romance between enemies!
What a grandly romantic story in Compromising Position by Diane Merrill Wiggington. Do you believe in love at first sight? I don't think that Catherine or Jake believes in it. Total opposites, and what seems like a lifetime loathe, leads to something neither one predicted. It's a fun and interesting romance with good intentions, that grows. I like the story because the characters are really interesting, and polar opposites, and even if you didn't know they’d fall in love, even with their encounters, their unfriendly encounters, the reader can feel the chemistry even if the characters don't admit it. I am a definite fan of this author! It's a fun read, and very intriguing, since it makes you fall in love with Jake and Catherine, and wonder what will happen next between them, and how in the world do they make it to "love." This author has a great imagination and I'm glad it's being shared with marvelous books. It is always an honor to read this author's books. This author is a great storyteller. I love reading romance books. This time I got my hands on Diane Merrill Wigginton's "A Compromising Position". It is a beautiful story about an American girl and an Australian guy who have different personalities.
Catherine Lawrence is the new campaign manager for Russell Tillman. So, she is busy at her job. When Catherine was a kid, her grandmother Alice was diagnosed with terminal cancer. So, Alice made a meticulous plan for Catherine to follow after her death.
Catherine is quite happy with her new position. She had made the life plan a reality. When the next-door-neighbor Jake went to her to invite her to the party, will she go? Catherine can't afford distractions and Jake is quite a handsome guy who is difficult to resist.
If you love reading romantic love stories then you can't afford to miss reading this one. The ending of the book is unexpected and I loved that. I binge read this book. The cover of the book is lovely and the title couldn't have been better than this. Both the main characters are my favorite from the story.

A Compromising Position, written by Diane Merrill Wigginton, is a romantic read, and I enjoyed every page.The story revolves around Jake Ryan, from Australia, and Catherine Lawrence, his neighbor in Florida. Catherine lived with her grandparents and followed a fifteen-year plan laid down by her. She was focused and reluctant to bring any exception until Jake arrived. The love was not instant for them; it took time for them to bloom into lovers. Their a few meetings were unpleasant, and Catherine felt offended a few times, mainly because of the cultural difference. This book is a definite match to my reading palette. This was a moderately paced, engaging story filled with adequate drama. The instances are amusing and gave me a "buttefly effect" due to the blooming romance. I was impressed with the variety of subplots. Although it was a romantic tale, the sub-plots to depict cultural and lifestyle differences are very well written and engage to the core. You will be engrossed in the story of two people from different worlds, gradually connecting and witnessing their love growing. The writing style is reader-friendly and comprehendible.

I must admit: I started this expecting a standard political thriller, and the book surprised me by being more of a human story wrapped in political skin. The attempted blackmail and the shooting are gripping plot devices, yes, but what stayed with me were the quieter aftermath scenes, hospital rooms, late-night strategy, phone calls that show loyalty and fear.
Chase Stoneman’s downward spiral into vindictiveness felt particularly tragic; he’s not merely a “bad guy” but a product of wounded pride and short-sighted choices. Wigginton resists caricature, which made Chase’s arc feel raw and believable.
By the last chapters I cared about the characters beyond their roles in the campaign, and that, to me, is the book’s real victory.
