The clock is ticking…

Cara, stunned to learn that the world she thought only existed in fantasy is in fact real, struggles to resist her growing feelings for Rig as she battles the alarming changes in her body brought on by the Night Walker--who is still at large.

Determined to prove to his mate that his feelings and commitment are real, Rig works hard to offer Cara everything she needs to feel safe and connected. But he is forced to woo her in secret, still in the shadow of his father's looming expectations... and the threat of what the Alpha King would do to Cara if he were to learn the truth.

Danger approaches from every side. But Rig has a plan that will not only position him to challenge his father, but he hopes will also convince Cara to finally accept him as her mate... and husband?

Aimee Lynn was born in Oregon and grew up in New Zealand. She dreamed of being a novelist from the age of seven, but as a Gen-Xer, was informed it wasn’t a realistic career. Instead, she went to college to be a journalist and (very realistically) never completed her degree. It wasn’t until her mid-thirties, after a marriage, a corporate career, and a family, that she rediscovered the joy she’d found in writing fiction. Now, she thanks God for giving her a husband whose love inspires romance, and who isn’t threatened by Jason Momoa.

Probably a 2.5, I went with 2 because this book makes me not want to continue the series. I understood the slow burn in the first book, I didn't love the complete lack of sex, but I understood it. However in this book it just became waaaay too much edging and teasing and I just didn't care by the time it happened. Nothing significant happened in this book except they got married (How very Twilight of them) had sex and bonded at the very end and that could have been done in a chapter in the last book or the next book. The gratuitous wedding and bonding scene that went on for like 20 chapters was exhausting, tedious and cringe worthy. They sounded like they were on ecstasy, it was just way too much. This book bored the hell out of me and I'm so mad that the ENTIRE BOOK was dedicated to the h being a girlie prude, waffling about having sex for the first time. It ain't that big a deal princess, get over yourself.🙄 The H completely changed his entire personality and it was sorta explained by the bond, but mostly was just the author making him into the most annoying ideal of the perfect boyfriend. Gah, need a break, maybe I'll read book 3 at some point, but right now it's not looking good because I just don't care what happens anymore.

Another book suffers the curse of Book 2 Disappointment 😪 the slow burn of the first book instantly was removed in this next installment of the series. And that’s fine (I guess), but it was so ungodly repetitive. The same things said over and over and over again. This book could have been much shorter if that’s all that was going to happen in the book.

The same POV errors that were in the first book were present in this one too. Needs a proofread for sure.

With that said, there were cute moments between them and I teared up a couple times. So there were some good things. But overall, this is a very generous rating as a 2. It was repetitive and nothing really happened in this book. It was filler to prepare for the next book and that’s it.

This is the book equivalent of taking a ride on a train going nowhere for hours.

Literally nothing happens.
No real plot advancement.
There’s some romance and maybe a tiny bit of character development? But it is so unbelievably boring.

Watching paint dry seems like a thrilling time compared to reading this.

Tempting interest that was almost like a typical sorority story but had a twist. OK plot.
