Going Solo represents the journey of two freelance writers Julie Barlow and Jean Benoît. Although the book contains a great amount of information on how to go solo as an entrepreneur, I'll tell you why I gave it 3 stars later.
The book is nicely divided into chapters that serve as a step-by-step guide for anyone venturing into the entrepreneurial space as a freelancer. I picked up this book because I am self-employed and live in Canada. The book gave me enough information about the various modes in which I can register my business. It is also a good guide for anyone wanting to understand deductions as a self-employed person.
However, what made me furious while reading the book was the extent of poor copyediting and proofreading. As I progressed through the pages I encountered numerous proof-reading errors. I am not sure if it's the publishing house or a freelance copyeditor that did that sort of a blunder but it is not expected from a book that goes on shelves at Indigo.
Overall it's a good read and I would have given it 4 stars had I not encountered these many proof-reading errors.
