Stupid Cupid was stupid cute!
Pyro and Val get their love story and there aren't two more deserving souls than these two. Val is a cupid who ironically is contagious to love and Valentine's Day. He's grumpy, sarcastic, and closed off but underneath that cool exterior is a man yearning for love and affection.
When Val gets an invitation to a monster kink club he takes full advantage and finds himself a fiery beast who demands submission in the sexiest and most caring way. Pyro read Val like a book and knew what he needed when he needed it. In return, Val gave Pyro that connection, foundation, and purpose he was starting to lose in life.
Unfortunately, Val catches some feelings and runs hurting not only himself but Pyro as well. It isn't until their siblings' wedding they are thrown together again and Pyro doesn't plan on taking no for an answer this time because he KNOWS Val feels more than he is letting on.
The push and pull between these two was so well written and hottttt. Val had a lot of things to work out but I enjoyed the fact that Pyro acknowledged that and was willing to put in the work to show Val he was worthy of love.
I really enjoyed this story and Val and Pyro's relationship dynamic in and out of the bedroom. I loved Pyro and all his subtleties and Val's bratty nature. They balanced each other well and found purpose together. Overall, a solid MM read with heat, angst, and heart.

Overall I think this is a pleasant, hot read that checks a lot of fun fantasy elements.
Pyro and Valentine have a burning instalust that comes into play at a masquerade. Tons of steam, push and pull, and a bit of angst wraps up their relationship. Valentine is definitely more apprehensive about love and that comes into play quite a bit with Pyro having to do the convincing and chasing.
Their relationship was great to me – what I struggled with more here was the world building. I felt like I didn’t really understand it the best (which is why I’m wondering if book 1 will help with that). I felt a bit thrown into their lifestyles and careers and wanted to understand that a bit better.
This was my first Maeve Black and I’ll definitely be trying more from them!

Val is a cupid who dislikes valentines day since they can't love, so he's alittle standoffish. And he gets a invite to a monster club 😈 maybe he'll find some fun but nothing to serious. He is drawn to Pryo and sparks fly between the two I swear!! Delicious the way Pryo dominate Val in that first meeting my panties were a mess hehe. I wanted to be in Vals shoes or in a corner watching 👀
The tension and the push/pull between them is alot I felt so bad for them when Val ran away it was to much for him.. he struggled alot and I felt so bad for him, but at one point I wanted to shake him and say "STOP"
Now we are present time 11 months have past and these two are still struggling Val more then Pryo since Py knows what he wants he's going to show his cupid he means bussiness, all the little things Pyro did for Val was so cute and well Val was being a brat so I wanted to hit him.
But finally he got his head out his ass and finally took the leap, we also got to see our babies in Dear Santa Clause, and Pyro finally getting to live his dream as Santa!!

This is a quick steamy novella. It does the job but I was kinda lost in the world building aspect.
Apart from that, I loved the romance and Pyro & Valentine connection and chemistry… insane. It was captured perfectly. Also, love all the latino songs <3 made my heart warm to see it.
It’s really good but if you want to understand the world, I think there another book before and hopefully that explains how this world works because I was kinda lost.

I’ve picked up so many random audiobooks this year just due to the fact Javi Wilder was a narrator and most of them I haven’t liked at all. I love his voice and thought he did a great job on this one but Aaron Shedlock is not a favorite of mine and made this book cringy at times especially the accent he used for Valentine.
I expected something fun due to the title and what this is about. There’s a Cupid named Valentine who doesn’t believe in love and a dragon shifter named Pyro who wants to be the next Santa Claus but is not the next in his family line to do it. He’s very much the spare and very sad about it because his brother doesn’t understand what a great honor it is to be Santa.
However, for a short 5 hour audiobook, this had some unfortunate choices like a year long time jump where the main characters don’t talk to each other until reunited only because their family members are tying the knot. Once this happened it was very obvious that I should have read book one because I was missing important information but I had no desire to read book one since it’s MF. This time jump was just confusing to me and ruined the fun I was having at the start. The sex scenes were hot and kinky but it took too long for Valentine to get over his shit and I thought Pyro deserved better. Had I been reading this I would have DNF’d it but with Javi Wilder narrating? My masochistic ass couldn’t put it down. 💀

this is one of those books that tries its hand at a plot, doesn’t do it well, and i just wish they had written the sex scenes
there’s little to no world-building (and i get this is a second book and i didn’t read the first, so maybe that is a part of it idk)
it also had a few points that were just completely repetitive in terms of plot like the characters said the same thing over and over (consent is the most important thing!) - and there’s no need for that lmao, i have a memory, you don’t need to say it 10 times in like 5 chapters
there was a scene where the Cupid role-played as Santa… to the Santa?!
as much as the book was like “consent matters” the whole second half threw that out the window as Pyro decided he would not stop until Val was his lmao
one thing i did appreciate though is that many of the back characters weren’t gendered and there even was a semi important character at the beginning who used they/them pronouns
overall a lot of my personal pet peeves all in a row, paired with bleh writing, wouldn’t recommend (and i think I’m going to stop taking recommendations from tik tok)

one thing i did appreciate though is that many of the back characters weren’t gendered and there even was a semi important character at the beginning who used they/them pronouns

Gah dayummmm. I need an ice bath after this one. That was… wow. Valentine and Pyro’s love story is everything. I can’t even form sentences. I’m fried. In the best way. Like holy hell that was so hot. So so good. So sweet. Delicious tension. I can’t. Maeve- this is crack. I need it injected right into my pretty little head to play on loop forever. THE Valentine’s Day read. Must read. Valentine is named after his least favourite day of the year. As a Cupid, he's tasked with giving and spreading love, but he's never supposed to experience it for himself. Not that he'd want to, either. But emotionless dalliances? Those are absolutely Val approved. When he's invited to a s3x party for the first time, he leans a few things about himself -and a hunger starts within him that he'd never known to be there. Queue Pyro, the beautiful dragon who's looking for a sub to help him forget about his extremely unfulfilling life as Santa-to-be. Together they agree on a "no feelings involved" Dom/sub relationship, but even that proves harder than it seemed.
This was a pretty anticipated read for me, since I loved the first instalment in this series, Dear Monster Claus. I wanted to know what was up with these two, since their connection was heavily teased in that novella, but I'll admit this was not what I was expecting. I knew it'd be hot, but this was on another level! Compared to the first book, here there are a lot more intimacy and trust issues, a lot more power play and emotionally stunted moments, but there also was so much heat. We see many of the characters we already met in the precious book, which was so nice. And, although I kind of wished there was a second epilogue in this novella as well, I thought the ending was satisfying enough.
All in all, it was a great story to round out to Valentine's Day!

I believe this book is for the people who want a cute romance book with SMUT, for the ones that are on a reading slump and for the ones that just want SMUT.
I laughed, giggled and got fucking turned on from this little book.

Can I say that’s it? That’s the review? Okay fine I’ll say more..
I was so excited for this book to come out! I started this book first thing on Valentine’s Day and ate it right up. I loved the chemistry between Valentine and Pyro. The dom/sub relationship was so well done! Definitely one of my favorites I’ve read. The characters were relatable and interesting. We got more information into their word and also a bit into Xo & Arson’s lives as well.
Honestly the only thing this book felt that was lacking was the story. The characters, chemistry, and spice were phenomenal but overall I wanted more. It felt some things were rushed through and I would have liked the story to be a bit longer and to get more details and more of the two of them. I can’t believe there was a one bed moment at the hotel and we didn’t get to read about it! I wanted in on that night and also just seeing how the whole Cupid thing worked. Overall I loved it and am again patiently waiting for Maeve’s next book!🤍

This was pretty cute. I've been wanting to try this author for a while, so I of course started with her M/M book. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I was still expecting more humor. Overall it was pretty angsty, with Valentine constantly pushing Pyro away. It was frustrating, but also kind of made sense, though I wish the source of his insecurities was explored more. For a book that's less than 200 pages, almost half were sex scenes. They were pretty hot, especially with anything involving Pyro's wings, and I understood their place in the story as a way of exploring Val's fear of vulnerability, but I wish it was balanced with a little more conversation. Pyro's attempts at "wooing" Val towards the end were pretty cute though. So while this wasn't the lighthearted romp I was hoping for, it still had some tender and moving moments. I may still read more from this author, but I'm going to take each book as it comes. I will say, however, that the covers of these books are adorable and a major draw for me.

I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was missing but I finally figured it out. I wanted more communication between Val and Pyro. The conflict felt like it wasn’t really resolved they just moved on from it. Idk it left me wanting a little bit more.
Still a great story and definitely recommend as a follow up to DMC!

4.25 Blue Dragon Dom Daddy stars
I was immediately excited for this book once I read Dear Monster Claus and this was the perfect Valentine’s Day read. Pyro cinnamon daddy and grumpy strawberry Valentine are infuriating and adorable with their push and pull and their utter inability to resist one another. I was here for their do we/don’t we dynamic, even though at points Val did jump from no to yes to no rather abruptly and without cause. He had issues I get it, and it’s hard to sometimes balance the pace in a novella format. But I also get his incredible emotional stunted ness when it comes to being honest and forthcoming in a relationship. Feelings are hard okay.
Pyro, though. Now I freely admit I enjoy monster romance but I could take or leave the blue/purple/pink monsters themselves (unless it’s like a demon or vampire or Fae, but I digress), but Pyro is so gods darned hot y’all. I know we’re talking fictional males but I’d let that big blue buttoned up dragon daddy with a tree trunk peen do very bad things to me. Respectfully of course. Maybe it’s that Dom in control energy. Triggers the yes sir in me every single time. And have you seen his glorious self on that glorious cover? Umm anyway, so that’s the review. Laughs awkwardly in overshare.

This could have been so good 🤌😭 it ended up just being confusing and frustrating most of the time.
The beginning was so good but after the time jump it just went downhills. The characters (Val especially) would flipflop on how they were feeling/acting constantly. There were so many time jumps when important conversations should have been but then we spent an entire chapter describing their sibilling's wedding, so it wasn't just an issue of the length of the novel.
It felt like having read "Dear Monster Claus" was necessary to understand better what was going on, when we were told in the beginning that this could be read as a stand alone so I was a bit disappointed.

I am saying this with all my love to indie authors, please hire an editor and proofreader before you choose to publish your work.
The amount of typos, convoluted sentence structures and downright messy formatting of the book (I have purchased the paperback version) made it an exhausting read. Some of the letters that were printed were borderline unreadable due to the font and size that was used. I am sorry but that just shows a lack of care and sloppiness I am not here for, especially, since indie books are more expensive than regularly published ones.
On top of that the writing is very poor. The main characters 'unravel' and 'fall apart' at least twice every page. Every emotion our MCs feel is always cranked up to the absolute maximum. There is no in-between. What the author probably failed to realise is that if everything is always described as intense and overwhelming, it becomes the opposite of that.
The author also tried to do some world - building, which was way too convoluted and not enough fleshed out to make any sort of sense. Less is usually more, and would have been in this case as well - especially since this is a monster romance novella, so world - building is honestly not what we came here for.
The smut was okay, but could have been better if not for the constant use of overly dramatic similes and exaggerations. The dual POVs did not help, as both characters sounded basically the same and I caught myself flipping back to see who's POV I was reading from more than once.
Also did not care for Santa to make an appearance as the MC in a Valentine Day themed Novella, felt very out of place - and could have been mentioned in the book description.

Pyro is a dominant Dragon who wants to be seen and appreciated for all he does. I really enjoyed this book. It was fast-paced, kinky, angsty, the chemistry between Val and Pyro was perfect, and the Dom/sub relationship was so well executed.
I found out after starting this book that it features characters from another book, Dear Monster Claus, and I felt like it was missing something since I hadn't read that book. The beginning was a bit slow for me, but this book was off the charts hot and I'm intrigued with the characters from Dear Monster Claus so I'll probably check out that book!

Wow my brain was really muddled while reading this. The spice is incredible and just made me giddy with my jaw dropped to the floor. I highly recommend picking up the first book before you dive into this one Dear Monster Claus.
