I write stories about the apocalypse so that I don't need to work a real job. I grew up reading Stephen King and still haven't fully recovered. I'm currently ending the world in my new series Under the Breaking Sky.

I am enjoying the listen, but it is repetitive and all the unnecessary female abuse, is getting a bit excessive. I don't think it would bother me as much if I were listening to the books randomly, but since I've listened for 8 hours in one day, it was a bit much. I definitely don't recommend reading/listening all at once. It will get repetitive and excessive.

Book 6 had left me with nagging questions, wondering what was happening with some of the other characters…well, Book 7 answered those questions with tension, drama and a lot of “oh, noooo’s!” A high bar has been set for Book 8!

Blind Hate

Wow. Best book in the series. Tense, heart wrenching. I had to read the whole book in one setting. I'm both scared and excited to read what comes next.

You weren't kidding.

This one really is dark, but I can hardly wait for the next one. I really want to know how this ends!

Great series

Can't wait for the next one....good series with a different spin on the apocalypse. Lots of surprises and you don't always know what the characters will do next. I like that there is good character development, but they surprise you sometimes. You don't know who is good or who is evil and you can't guess who survives and who dies. Or even if they die.

Review:
A huge thank you to Nick Clausen for allowing me to be part of his Book Review team!
This is book 7 in the Under the Breaking Sky series and what a series this has been so far! The last book did leave me feeling a little unsettled, so I was both intrigued and nervous about what was to come next.

The thing I’m loving about this series, is I really can’t predict how it is going to end, Nick has kept me on my toes throughout and I was wondering and hoping that this instalment may give me a hint… safe to say, I still don’t know! One thing Nick is also very good at is tying up loose ends. It may be a while before you hear from a character, but Nick always brings the focus back to them.
Nick really didn’t hold back in this instalment; I didn’t see the book events coming a mile off! I found myself racing through the pages as I couldn’t quite believe what I was reading. This was a very tense read and there was definitely a sense of doom left behind when reading.

As always with Nick’s work there was plenty of action and at times you were on the edge of your seat! The cliffhangers really meant Nick had you in his clutches. Nick also did an awesome job at creating imagery, which resulted in the book being very atmospheric at times.

I always expect the unexpected when reading Nick’s work, but he still manages to surprise me with his killer twists and turns! The clever plot twists also showcase how talented this author is.

Thank goodness I only have one book left. I said in a past review that if the author added one more raped character I was changing all my reviews to ones and of course he did. So, good job, Nick Clausen, you just got all my reviews for all your books changed to 1 star. Now we've got Gina, Phoebe, the middle eastern woman, Melissa, and Camila who have all been raped at this point. And he doesn't just mention Camila's rape, he graphically describes the rape of a 6 year old in this book. It's starting to really feel like this author has a rape fetish and that he's weirdly getting off on writing about these characters getting assaulted. If there's anyone who is triggered by that, I highly recommend NOT to read or listen to these books.

Also, do guys' balls REALLY contract that much? I swear these characters have their balls contract with every emotion. Fear? Balls... Attraction? Balls... Anger? Balls... Like, do they really respond to every emotion like that? Enough to write about them??

Also, come on... We need a little more imagination with the names. In this book, we've got a Tom, a Tomas, and a Tommy... And then we've got Fritz, and Franz, and now Frey... Like really? Are you trying to make following the characters even more gosh darn confusing? You already have an insane amount of characters that I'm trying to keep straight and then you're going to make all the characters have similar names? Good gracious.

This whole plot line is just off the wall, slow as molasses, and honestly ridiculous. Fritz is saying they're building an army to fight a force, but then there's no real explanation of the force building against it? Is that force just Gina? lol There are SO many plot points that they need to finish up in this last book, that it's ridiculous.

I seriously don't know how I've made it through 7 books of this series already. And I REALLY don't understand how so many people have rated this series so highly.

Is a reckoning beginning?
Listening to Blind Hate: Under the Breaking Sky Book 7, is like riding a roller-coaster that has no breaks between the drops, turns and in inverted tracks. This episode in the series left me at times angry, sad, and then in a few instances joyous, depending on some of the character’s circumstances. Furthermore, some of the character’s ghosts are involved in setting up situations that are designed to further the ends of the entities behind the crack in the sky. After the emotional toll on the reader and characters this episode sets the stage for what may be an epic showdown between those survivors not related to Fritz and the members of Fritz’s group.

Of all the post-apocalyptic stories I’ve read or listed to, this series is one of the best, with each episode you become more engaged with each character and the action they encounter becomes a personal experience. Once again Spencer Dillehay’s expert narration takes an already excellent story to an even higher level.

This book felt like more of the same, and I was honestly expecting a bit more by this point in the series. Tommy killing Patrick and Victor seemed excessive—sure, high stakes, but it didn’t really feel necessary. The “confronting your demons” theme is solid, but it’s starting to get repetitive—like, okay, we get it, everyone has their demons to fight.

One major gripe I had was with the use of sexual violence against a female … again. It feels lazy to rely on that as a shock tactic when human psychology is so complex. There are other ways to evoke tension and impact without falling back on the same tired trope, and it didn’t feel like it added anything meaningful to Camilla’s story. Lost a star just for that.

Audiobook: I was as riveted to book 7 as I was with the earlier books in the "Under The Breaking Sky" series. Once the audiobook started, I had to stay glued to the story as I was so captivated by what was happening. This was one of the books where you never knew what was going to happen next and there were so many twists and turns that I never saw coming. This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to get to the next book. Spencer Dillehay's narration was mesmerizing, and his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Blind Hate: An Apocalyptic Horror Thriller

After seven books you’d think the story would get boring and mundane! But no they just get more exciting and nail biting the further on you read!
Characters are changing ( and not all for the better!) others are dying and more are coming on the scene. Good against evil, but who will win!?
So good!!!!!

Blind Hate

Book 7 of the 8 book series that reminds me a lot of Stephen King's "The Stand". A lot happens in this book that surprised me. Some of the characters did things that I didn't expect them to do. But it seems the good guys are dwindling and that evil is winning. One more book to answer if they can overcome everything and beat the evil.

So…close…to…the…end…

I just finished book (part) 7 and I am thrilled to know book 8 is the final installment! This series has made me cry, scream, rage…all the feels. I cannot believe I am so close to the end. If you start this series, you have to finish all 8 books!

Good! The story is still interesting but it’s going on forever and I’m totally over the ghosts!! I’m too invested to stop reading now.

By far one of the best apocalyptic type series I’ve ever read. There’s 8 books in the series and I sped through them because I couldn’t get enough! Nicholas is an incredible story teller. His novels are full of substance and no fluff. I can’t think of one instance during this series or any of his others that I found myself skipping paragraphs because there was no purpose in them. No unnecessary details.
The character development in this series is surprising but makes sense. I love that no character is “safe” in his series. It makes the story unpredictable.
