I loved this book. I live in Columbia, MO and often bike the Katy Trail. I am so appreciative of having this wonderful resource in our state. As much as I admire Ted Jones, it is really Pat Jones who I connect with. The love of nature and the foresight to give money to causes that will protect it is an inspiration. They were the epitome of “live simply so others may simply live”. Great read, especially the last 1/3 of the book.
Trail Blazers is a must read book for anyone who works at Edward Jones to better understand the company's history and culture. I learned new stories about Ted and Pat Jones along with additional details of other tales I had previously heard.
While the language and writing style are accessible to the average reader, some of the stories and anecdotes lacked enough detail or context. Quite a few times I felt like I only had a vague understanding of what happened. Sometimes this was a result of not knowing enough about the workings of the Edward Jones companies in earlier decades. Other times I just could not connect the dots between that actions that people took and how these led to certain results. In these types of situations it felt like I just didn't have enough background information to fully appreciate or understand what was happening.
This book erupted with stories, and it got better and better throughout the book. Many of these tales were familiar but so many more were unknown gems that show the true authenticity of Ted and Pat Jones. I cherished this book and will reference it for many years to come, thank you for sharing such a work of art!
