They say I’m a duchess: an omega who rejected my mates.
It’s a title that lends me wealth and power. A perfect life. Yet, money can’t buy back my lost memories, and each night I dream of mates I can't remember, desperately wondering why I gave up what I desired most.
But danger closes in, nameless and faceless: I'm being hunted by a ghost from the past. Terrified, and no longer safe in my own home, I do what I swore I'd never would: search for another pack for protection.
My money opens doors, and I go to The Institute in hopes of matching my scent with an upstanding pack.
Blessedly, one scent is undeniable. Irresistible. A match—and this time for life.
Until I learn of the mixup: Instead of eligible bachelors, I'm bound to a pack of criminals.
Now I’m faced with an impossible choice: return home alone and hope my lost past won’t cost me everything, or put myself at the mercy of dangerous strangers…
Content warnings: The book explores societal values around woman and childbearing (but not, specifically, the grief of infertility). Violence. Explicit spice. Mature readers only.

Soooo... Bit disappointed, sigh. I enjoyed the author's other ABO story a lot, so when I received the mail with the Arc, I was looking forward to it.
My only problem was that I was expecting a reverse harem, but it felt more like Ice's harem and Onyx there at the sides. I always want the girl to be the center, and here Ice was the center, without a doubt. I got tired of it very quickly, and when Viper was taken by him, I was pissed. There was a moment when Viper was relieved that Onyx wasn't near him anymore... Like wtf bro? The girl was literally set aside after his pack died, no one told her who she really was and what happened to her to lose her memory, and she was lonely for years. When they saw each other again, I was expecting fireworks or something, but it wasn't like that.
Everyone was concerned about Ice. He was the main omega, even though he isn't their scented mate, she is. What's the point of having a scented mate if any bond will be stronger?
I'm not even going to talk about the stalker plot...
What I learned from this book is: two omegas in a pack don't work. There's a conflict of interest. And tbh Onyx deserved better.

I had the audiobook from the library and I got the e-book from Kindle Unlimited. And I just swapped back-and-forth depending on the situation.
I was going to mark it down a little but I refuse! I loved it. Other people can tell you more issues with it. But I had a blast!
There is a lot of trauma and drama in this book. There are people magically healed from "love". I don't care! I just enjoyed myself so much. They were twists. and grief. And hurt/comfort.
Just as angst-filled and stomach-twisting as the first book in this series, Forget Me Knot absolutely wrecked me, kept me up late, and floored me with its twists. It is an exciting read that is hard to put down. I love the PoisonVerse universe Marie MacKay has created with the unique mating bond types, scent matching, and the differentiation between a registered and unregistered omega. It puts a different spin on the ABO dynamics found in omegaverse stories.
The relationships in this omegaverse are closer to polyamorous than a true why-choose situation, with the female omega being in the center of the pack, so be aware of this shift before reading. If you were expecting her to be centric to the pack, you might be disappointed. There are two omegas in this pack, a male, Ice, the established omega, and Onyx, their scent match. Much of the angst revolves around the dynamic of Onyx fitting into an established pack.
Spoiler: In-Depth Star Rating Explanation
The side plot of the dangerous stalker was engrossing, with a “who could it be?” that surprised me once they were revealed. I loved the overall danger they posed and how they forced Onyx’s actions throughout the story.
Even though Onyx is scent matched with the pack, the relationships remain medium-burn, with her connection to some of the men being easier to achieve than others. The steam is hot, as most OVs are, with knotting, slick, and insatiable sex drives. Interactions are MF, MM, and MMFM+.
I look forward to more books from this omegaverse universe.

Marie may have came out of the gate swinging with Havoc Killed Her Alpha, but Forget Me Knot knocked me straight out. This book had such raw emotions that many omegaverse books don’t touch on - loss, loneliness, reconciliation, retribution. Onyx was an amazingly complex character, and her journey was magnificent. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more. I could have legitimately read 500 more pages. I can’t wait to read more from the PoisonVerse!
I really feel the author is growing with leaps and bound when you compare this one with her first book. In Havoc's story I felt we didn't really get to know the characters, which is completely not the case in this one. We get to know each character and their past, without it being too much.
The beginning of this book felt similar to pack darling. There is a male omega who only has some kind of relationship with one of the alphas, and a female omega is added to the mix because she has no other choice. Thankfully, that's where the similarities end. The alphas in this book try to balance the two omegas without giving on or the other the feeling of being left out. However, I would have liked a warning about the presence of another omega, especially because that is one of the biggest plot points. Pack Darling traumatised me enough I almost DNF'ed this one the moment Ice stept out of his nest.
The thing I disliked a bit was that the issue with fertility is mentioned twice, but isn't discussed again. The fact that the pack doesn't care shouldn't mean that Onyx is suddenly free of the burden it had been up to that point.
Just a sidenote: I LOVED the plot twist about the stalker, I really did not see that one coming!
First things first, this book unfortunately utilizes one of my least favorite tropes/plot devices.
When it was revealed at the end, I wanted to yeet my kindle into the nearest volcano and leave.
That travesty aside, I unfortunately did not enjoy this one as much as I thought I would. I felt indifferent about the characters, the plot itself wasn't all that gripping, and it didn't feel like the FMC was an integral member of this pack.
However, I will say that this is my seventh book by this author, and the first that was below 3.5 stars.
Another dark and emotion roller coaster in this series. I enjoyed it. Even the thriller aspect of it, though I had guessed the identity of the stalker long before the reveal.
One of the things that threw me was the relationships between King and Arsenal with Ice. The whole time it was written to me and came across as two Alphas with a male omega who they loved and cared about but not necessarily in a romantic way. And that's okay. I thought part of the storyline and even their inner monologues confirming it, that Onyx was what was needed to bridge the gap for them all to be together and share a physicality. So for them to start out of the blue being intimate was a little out of left field for me.
The other thing that is just a me personally issue, is that is dealt with Onyx having to overcome the death of her mates and the guilt of trying to move on. I actually liked the deeper emotional issues addressed in this. (Infertility issues, history of sexual abuse, a stalker, death of mates and so on) It was not the normal mindless smutty OV which I applaud. I just happened to start reading this book, without realizing what a big part of it was about, on what would have been my 20 year anniversary to my husband who passed away unexpectedly not even a year ago. So a little unexpected kick to the vagina.
Otherwise though, good job. I'm really enjoying Marie's OVs, and can't wait to see what she puts out next.
Trigger warning note: check the author's page for triggers. There's a good bit in this one. I enjoy dark romances and this is dark. Be forewarned
There are poly relationships in the omegaverse genre and mmfmmm. But this book is a mmmmm poly gay relationship. In this series, even the female character is not given any importance. There are alphas who see female omegas as the lower class. Unfortunately, the whole series is like that, I came here for the two cute omegas and their alphas, but it turns out everything I read was a lie.
In this book, they put the male omega more in the center than the female omega, and even though there is a female main character, all the alphas love the male omega, they give importance to him, but they don't even like the female main character, so this book is a gay romance, she's just a woman, she's just a sidechick, that's all. I'm very angry with alpha viper and male omega. In fact, I'm angry with every character, I'm not just angry with Onyx, the girl deserves more. The girl is already a strong woman.
I will not read this series again and do not recommend it. I can't handle a female character being written so unimportantly. I like gay romance, but not the one in this series.
If it is to be written in an omegaverse and mmf genre, both male and female omegas need to be treated the same, loved and cared for in the same way. If it cannot be given, that relationship will not be mmf, it will just be mm, that is, gay romance.
You may or may not agree with me, you may or may not like this series. This series is not for me.

The group dynamic is so unbalanced in this pack. The fmc ends up doing so much unthanked, unacknowledged emotional and homestead labor to heal and fix all of the packmates. There's a particular relationship with an alpha and the male omega that feels so dismissive and such a betrayal of the FMC it gives the ick. I was really into it until about the halfway mark. The plot twist is deeply disturbing and uncomfortable. Everyone needs therapy but they're just gonna go about their relationships without a strong foundation instead.
The writing itself is perfectly fine, so that's why 3 stars. But for the mood readers - if you're craving something deeply unlikable that leaves you upset and dissatisfied, this is the one.
I loved the first half of Forget Me Knot - the mystery, the tension and the drama was top tier. However it fell a little flat for me once the stalker was revealed - it felt like a bit of a cop out and it didn't quite make sense to me.
I loved learning about the characters and some of the twists I was not expecting. I also love how the books lead into the next, makes me want to keep reading the series.
I love Marie's writing style and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.
I absolutely am diving straight into the novella - I can't wait for Havoc and Onyx to meet!
**Tropes** - why choose/poly - two omegas - scent match - touch her and die
📖 **My Thoughts** This book was wildly different from the first one, which normally would be a good thing because a series of standalones in a shared world is always a treat. However this book was…well bad. In comparison to the first the character developments were extremely lacklustre and at the same time the plot does not move nor have any depth to it. There are several stakes that are mention but they are left without any depth or progression nearly 60% in because the author chose to focus on the relationships and characters. Again, not a bad thing but there was no balance. There was a sacrifice of plot/plot points for the characters but the sacrifice was in vain because I felt absolutely zero connections between the characters. Even their personalities felt…flat. Many of the moments I read felt like they were more shock value than an actual core part of their being. I often read books of this nature with characters who struggle and fall hard, yet I found myself cringing at all our MMCs. Nothing about their backgrounds felt core to them or crucial to the story, it was just something said and I was expected to believe it and see the character. I do plan on reading the next story because this wasn’t the worst story I’ve ever seen and I’m not entirely out off because the first book was fantastic.
🌶️ **Spice** Honestly? Couldn’t tell you, I skimmed the sex scenes because I found the relationships so forced that the sex was just cringe. That first scene actual sex scene was absolutely dreadful. I gave this a point 5 purely because there is sex that happens, but that doesn’t mean it’s actually good lmao.
📝 **Special Notes** This wasn’t the book for me, but maybe it’s the book for you. Personally, won’t be buying this for my shelves like I will Havoc but I hope the author can redeem herself in the next installment because this is definitely giving second book syndrome.

Man, I’m honestly disappointed in this one. I’ve read three other omegaverse books by this author and LOVED them. This one I struggled a lot more connecting with the characters, and I really didn’t feel like Onyx was included in the pack. To me, it felt like the pack revolved completely around Ice as the omega, and Onyx was an afterthought. I’ve read other omegaverses with two omegas that worked a lot better than this. This did not seem like a fair dynamic at all. Like once Onyx helped heal their dynamic, she was sidelined despite other members saying she belonged. They can say that all they want but it didn’t really feel that way with their actions. I also really didn’t like that Ice got to claim Viper first as his alpha, and to make it worse Viper basically felt relief to be starting over and that it wasn’t Onyx he bit. It felt like it cheapened Viper’s history with Onyx when they had been in love enough for him to offer her the princess bond in the past. I was so excited to read Viper’s story, and loved how devoted he had been to Onyx literally right up until he met Ice. I contemplated DNF’ing at 70% because I felt so depressed for Onyx. Like she couldn’t have one thing for herself? I really don’t know what the point was of evening having an FMC in this because the story didn’t feel like hers at all. She did the hard work of glueing them back together and idk I just don’t see the reward

Wow. Where do I start? This book made me so frustrated! I'm surprised the majority of people liked this book. The author had difficulty incorporating 2 omegas into a pack dynamic. Especially when they are polar opposites. Everything revolved around the male omega...which is fine...just make it a bl omegaverse novel. The female omega was just there to patch up holes and make the guys in the pack realize they love each other.
The part when Viper joined pissed me off. He was so obsessed with the fmc. So much so that he was willing to lose his alpha powers, but as soon as he gets bit by the male omega, it's "a powerful bond he's never experienced before"?! WTF? So now his scent mate is crap in comparison to a chosen mate? He's trash. They had to separate Viper from her because he wasn't healing with her there. What garbage.
So let's discuss the elephant in the room: the stalker plot. Stfu with that twist. I darn near threw my phone when I read that. Seriously? That's where we're going? Terrible decision on the author's part. It doesn't work in this story. There are very few books where this kind of revelation is executed well. It felt lazy in this instance. Like the author was running out of time (or book was running too long), and they wanted to tie everything up in a neat bow.
I feel like this should have just been a story about Ice. The male omega in the group. Because honestly, Onyx seems to constantly be left behind. She is there fixing everyone's relationship in the pack and helping them come together as a family, meanwhile she is constantly on the outside. Especially when Viper became involved. He was supposedly sooo in love with her and as soon as he met Ice he is obsessed and loves and cares for him. So even the alpha's from Onyx's past are focused on Ice. They are willing to protect her from her stalker but they aren't really giving her any affection other than that. The other alphas had been sooo patient with Ice over the years and overly aware of his trauma, but with Onyx it's like they have blinders on.
Onyx deserves better. Ice deserves less considering he was an emotionally abusive and manipulative omega to his alphas over the years.... the alphas are nice enough but just completely oblivious.
Also I just read the other one star rating which had a spoiler for the end... and let's just say I am disappointed I even read as far as I did.
This was the second PoisonVerse I read. I read Lonely Alpha first and almost didn't get through it but managed to so I figured I would give this one a shot but this was not for me.
It started out really strong but then it fizzled about a third of the way through unfortunately.
I really wasn't a huge fan of any of the characters. They all had some form of trauma or baggage that just never really gets fully explored? They're all mostly just fine at the end and it's like??
It really didn't need to be as long as it was. There was just so much filler. It felt like nothing happened and also like it was too busy which was really weird.
I liked the premise of the book, just not really the book itself. I love the author and the way she writes, though. This one just wasn't for me.
An alpha-omega smutty novel with characters having traumatic past.
A duchess believed to have rejected her mates. A title most omegas dream of. But Onyx doesn't remember her past that led to her becoming one. Now danger is closing in and she believes it is related to her past, to her lost memories. Her money can buy her anything except protection against this faceless stalker. Now her only chance is to find a pack who will accept her. But her life turns upside-down when she is matched with a pack of criminals. Now she has to make a nearly impossible choice -- stay alone to face the danger by herself and hope to cone out alive or join the pack who might be dangerous than her stalker.
A thrilling and spice-packed novel with heart-melting characters. And the traumatic past of each of them just breaks my heart.
Viper...oh my gods, Viper...he's my baby...so much pain, so much suffering and all alone...my heart bleeds for him...but I'm so happy that he got his HEA after all.
I highly recommend you guys to read this series and indulge in the world of smut and spice and hot hot alphas and their omegas.
*SPOILER ALERT*
The mention of Havoc's pack and the related scenes are so funny. And in the end when Onyx finds what Viper was supposed to do to Havoc and her reaction and when she said that she'll be friends with his ex-gf just cracked me up so hard ( still cackling like a lunatic thinking about that scene). So overall, yes, I can't wait for these 2 packs to meet. It's gonna be a hell of a ride when all 3 omegas come together (no pun intended 😆).
I’m slowly becoming obsessed with Marie Mackay’s writing. This standalone was 💥💥💥 Tbh: I was wondering how she was going to pull off this pack dynamic with viper but the way it came together was gold. 5 stars 🌟
Listen, there are times when a male omega already in the pack that the female omega is bound to join works out well but unfortunately for this book, this was not the case. The story (and the pack for that matter) felt very centered on Ice and his healing. So when it came to Onyx, who suffered the loss of all her previous pack mates and clearly had a lot of trauma, she very much felt sidelined; the way it was written, she wasn’t integrated well into this pack dynamic. This only works if the male omega is completely smitten with her and she with him and then they share the alphas equally. It’s almost necessary for their bond to be the strongest out of the entire pack (ie the male omega is fighting tooth and nail to keep her) and this was not the case here. Think Pack Darling - it was so incredibly well done in this book and made you feel like the female omega was valued.
Not to mention that it really peeved me when Viper bonded with Ice first (regardless of the situation) and then Ice was attached at his hip for days while he recovered and Onyx felt unwanted…. By an Alpha who was part of her previous pack and her mate. It all just felt very unbalanced and unfairly weighted towards Ice and I felt like Onyx just deserved better. It was always about making Ice feel loved and Ice feel comfortable and accepted. I mean there were actual tears shed for her,she truly deserved more attention and that includes from Ice. He should have been pushing for them to bond her.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good MM relationship outside of the group dynamic but it just needs to feel cohesive and I just couldn’t get that sense from this book. Like Ice wanted nothing to do with them (understandably) but then ended up fucking all of them after what? They come running to his aid and he sees “how much they really care” after all these years of pushing them away…. It’s all just chaotic and very messy in the way it’s written; there isn’t a good flow to the way the relationships develop. Anyways, I feel like Onyx should have been more of a central focus point and was super disappointed that it didn’t deliver.
Also the plot point of the villain being the fmc with a mental block was something I’d never seen before and could have been a decent twist. but I just feel like it was lacking in terms giving us a real plot. I would have way more interested if there truly was a stalker and she got taken (instead of Ice - eye roll). At least they would have been focused on getting her back. Just a thought - don’t make the female omega the main character if she’s NOT going to be the main character.
By the end of the book I was just irritated and wanted to get it over and done with.
~2.5 stars~

"Forget Me Knot" by Marie Mackay is an intriguing paranormal romance that delves into the complexities of memory loss, unexpected alliances, and the power of choice. Set in a world where status and wealth dictate one's place in society, the story follows a duchess, an omega, who embarks on a journey to rediscover her lost memories and find protection from a haunting past.
The premise of the book is gripping, and the author's exploration of societal values and the pressure to conform to traditional norms adds depth to the narrative. The concept of a mix-up leading the protagonist to be bound to a pack of criminals creates an intriguing dilemma that sets the stage for suspense and unexpected twists.
Mackay's writing style is engaging, and she effectively builds tension throughout the story. The book includes explicit spice, adding heat to the romantic encounters. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and the author excels in creating intense and passionate moments.
However, despite these strengths, there are some aspects that hindered my overall enjoyment of the book. The pacing felt uneven at times, with certain sections dragging while others rushed through important developments. Additionally, the characters, while intriguing, lacked some depth and complexity, making it difficult to fully invest in their journeys.
Furthermore, the world-building could have been more robust, as some aspects felt underdeveloped and left me craving more information about the dynamics of the paranormal society and the consequences of the protagonist's choices.
While "Forget Me Knot" offers an entertaining read with elements of danger, romance, and intrigue, it falls short of reaching its full potential. The book is not without its merits, but the uneven pacing, shallow characterizations, and limited world-building prevent it from truly standing out in the genre.
Overall, I would recommend "Forget Me Knot" to readers who enjoy paranormal romance with explicit spice and are willing to overlook some narrative weaknesses. It offers an escape into a world of mystery and passion, but falls short of leaving a lasting impression.
Ok so I'm on the fence with this omega verse . Its different but not . We still have the heat ,omega, rut, alpha and betas just off in the wind. The Alphas aren't very Alphay, is that a word ? it is now. The omega ...😕 Anyway this was going ok ,didn't care much for there being 2 omega in this group ,just didn't feel right . I know he was male and all but the omega is supposed to be the center of a RH pack. So you now have two centers ...and it just wasn't deep . These guys had an omega and the dynamics were off . It almost felt as if the men were pulled in two different directions ,some thinking about the male omega and then the female . It just didn't work for me . And the mental problems he ( male omega ) had ,the treatment . Refusing to make the bond healthy ...just did not work . Then the death and the stalker . OMG . plot holes . This book just couldn't pull it together in the end .The criminal ( the only one that actually acted like an alpha) that wants something from them , kidnaps the female and he's like ,omg you guys are stupid ,and bam we get the stalker is ....her? Everything just fell apart .Everything.This just made the plot cheap .You made this omega into a crazy women doing these things to herself and others but forgetting about it all and making herself a victim . Her first pack died in sleep due to Car.P. with one being alive ( rich dude) and everyone lying to her for her own good .And the way writer wanted to finish this?? She is the victim and the stalker .....🙄 Like the writer was all of a sudden at the deadline for this and had to quickly wrap it up but still dragged it out in end ,just very rushed in the stalker area .😒 It was rushed and it ruined what could have been a better read than two stars. The only thing that saved this book for me was the Institution being shady and not at all what they put out to the public. I'm going to read the next in this and hope it gets better .
I really wanted to like this one a lot…and I did like it…..BUT, there was just something ‘off’ about it. First, honestly, it felt like Ice’s book and Onyx was just another pack-mate. The Alphas just didn’t behave as if she was their ‘scent match’. Scent matches are supposed to be a high-level, ‘rare’, almost spiritual connection that evokes possessiveness, obsession, worshipping and care-taking and that was missing for Onyx from these Alphas. I get that, in the beginning, they were ‘conditioned’ to ignore their instincts but those scent match behaviors never presented and there was no real struggle for them to fight it. Yeah, they thought Onyx was hot but, aside from that, there really wasn’t much there. Whereas Ice got all the emotional connection and relationship development. Even on physical level, Ice got much more of that and it constantly felt like they were all pulled to him while she just took the scraps. I mean, in the bonus Novella, Ice got 2 nice dates and Onyx got a trauma dump amongst a bunch of plants. Also, Onyx and Mal might as well have just been F buddies because there was nothing else to their relationship. Even Viper, who was her scent match, love of a lifetime who pined after her for years had more of connection with Ice on the pages while Ice never expressed any guilt towards Onyx over bonding Viper. None of the Alphas were there to comfort her through that hurt - they just took her away so Viper could heal. At several points, it actually began to feel uncomfortable and irritating because of the imbalances. So much so, that I did kinda want her to walk away from them…she really deserved better. I just think, if you are going to have 2 Omegas, it’s a real challenge to keep that dynamic and balance from swaying too far one way or the other and I don’t think this story achieved that. In the end, I felt bad for Onyx that she didn’t get to be the main character of her own story.

Forget Me Knot starts off strong with an intriguing premise. Onyx has a stalker and seeks out a scent mate match with another pack to try and hide. I was really hooked in the beginning, but as the story started to hit the halfway point I found myself frustrated.
I've read books where the pack already has a male omega. In this setup Usually the focus is the heroine and she feels central to the pack. However, in this case, the male omega's relationship to his pack is damaged so at the same time the heroine is building a relationship to pack members, so is the male omega, and more time was spent on this.
One of the things I love about Omegaverse is seeing an Alpha be very dominant, protective, caring and most especially purr when soothing their omegas. But in this story I'm not sure if the Alpha's purred at all, but Onyx purrs multiple - multiple - times.
I wish I had read more detailed reviews before jumping in. I don't read romance with the goal of something being clever or unique. Forget Me Knot has a big twist which left me feeling misled and frustrated. This author is a good writer, and this story is definitely different, so for those that do enjoy these things they should jump right in!
This story was a little mix of a thriller with a very dysfunctional omegaverse pack, but I enjoyed it overall. I do like this universe's twist on pack bonds, but I wish that the metaphysical part was explained more, like gold pack, duchesses, and princess bonds. It was still a bit of a mystery to me how they had their place in the society.
While it was originally advertised to be Viper's story, I would say he had a very minor part overall, and his relationship with the FMC was nowhere as important as the rest of the men considering the fact that his significant part wasn't until the last quarter of the book.
The omega-led dramatic angst is through the roof, the twisty 'the uninvited' plot is not nearly as twisty as it feels intended to be, the kingpin badguy everyone knows by reference is whatever in reality and it FEELS ANTICLIMACTIC IS WHAT I'M SAYING.
Like. The reasoning is there, the rules are convoluted and LOADED, and while the entrance of information is a hot mess, they make sense I guess. But it just feels...really over the top.
I mean, I read all of it, and thought about it while I wasn't reading it. But now that I've finished it...I had to really think about it to recall details outside of my 'are you kidding me?' responses. So. I'm not sure it was a successful text for me, but it was interesting in the moment.
Do not ask me why I read the whole book. No I didn't like any of the characters or the concept or the world building or the plot or the MM that we weren't warned about or the unwanted male omega in the dynamic. Or the fuck ups they all did for no reason. But there was some weird kinda crack in this because I HAD to finish it. The mystery was good and ngl the plot twist was worth it in the end. I skipped most of it. Couldn't connect with anything.
Do not recommend. But holy hell WHAT WAS IN THE BOOK THAT I FINISHED IT DESPITE NOT LIKING IT? WHY?😭WHY AM I DOING THIS TO MYSELF
So, I wanted to love this! I tried SUPER HARD!!! It was a great story, but Onyx was like an after thought. This was VERY MUCH a book about Ice and his pack....not Onyx and hers.
Great book about Ice and his healing and acceptance of being Omega. Not a great FMC centered story.
