4.5 Badass Assassin Stars Rounded Up!
⭐︎
My first book by this author was definitely a win.
The chemistry? ✅
The steam? ✅
The romance? ✅
The intensity? ✅
Archer aka 'The Reaper' is a badass assassin, one of the best in the business. For 12 years, he's lived this life, ever since he was 19 and taken out of his normal life with his grandparents to work for something called 'The Firm' which has it's hand in basically everything, even the US government.
And they claim to be vigilantes, taking out really bad people, but not always. There's a lot of innocent people too that they kill.
Then there's Heath, the new priest at a church in Boston, who seems to have more going on than he appears.
But when Archer steps into that confessional and they meet, it's sizzling between them from then on. Heath becomes an obsession for Archer, so much so that he buys an apartment across from the house Heath is living on on church grounds to be able to spy on him through his window. For naughty purposes, of course.
Heath can't really get Archer out his mind either, and the things these two get up to...especially their first time in that confessional...whoo boy *fansself*
As things come to a head, things come to light. Such as what's really going on with Heath - I suspected something more the whole time and I was right! - and what about his missing brother? What exactly is Archer doing that has put a target on his back?
Who can Archer trust? Who can Heath? It's a web of death and lies and destruction as Archer and Heath's lives become more and more entangled, and the more they can't stay away from each other.
My only *teensy* niggle that had me give this .5 stars off is, I felt like their "I love you's" actually came too soon?
I don't know if the next book or books will be about them, and if not maybe that's why they were a little rushed? But if there *is* more in this series with these two at the focus, I do wish the "I love you's" would have waited.
These two were so sexy together and so hot and scorching and the foundations for love *were* there. Their surprising moments of tenderness between the roughness of their encounters showed there was a deeper connection there.
They were definitely on their way to love and I *felt* that, so hard. It was SO GOOD. I just think they hadn't quite built to "I love you" yet by the time we got them at the end. I dunno, I don't think these two were there yet.
With Archer so closed off for so long, and trying to stay closed off, and Heath with his own shit going on, it felt like they had held back for long enough that to dive right into that felt rushed for me.
BUT, other than that, I adored this and I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future. A definite win for me for my first outing with this author, and a definite recommend by me.
Whoever the next book is about - maybe Tobias? Or what about Andrew? Or these two again❤️ - I can't wait for it. Onto the next!
