אני ואתחיל ואפתח בזה שזה ספר לא רגיל.
גם שהוא נוגע בפנטזיה ורומנטיקה.
גם אם חשבתן שקראתן הכל, מבטיחה לכן שלא קראתן כזה.
איך אני בכלל אתחיל לספר לכן על מה הדואט הזה?
האם באמת יש מילים שאפשר להגיד שיגרמו לכן להבין?
או שפשוט תצטרכו לקרוא?
ניקה בדואט שהוא לא רק אמיץ אלה נוגע בנושאים חשובים שלעיתים קל לנו להעלים מהם עין.
הפנטזיה מסביב בעייני ריככה את המכה שהספר הזה נותן.
בלי הפנטזיה לא חושבת שהייתי שורדת את השאלות הכואבות שהספר הזה מאלץ אותך לשאול את עצמך.
הספר הזה גרם לי להתמודד עם השדים שיש בתוכי.
וזה לא היה מרצון, ניקה פשוט הכריחה אותי להתמודד.
לא רציתי…אני נשבעת שלא רציתי….
אבל תהליך הקריאה פה הוא מיוחד, הוא מאלץ את הקורא להתמודד עם שאלות קשות.
ואחרי דבר המחברת שגרם לי להתייפח ישבתי עם עצמי וחשבתי.
אולי…
אולי השאלות האלה חייבות להישאל?

ספר מרתק עם גישה מרתקת ליחסים בין שדים ומלאכים וכיצד השפעותיהם באים לידי ביטו בקרב בני/ות האדם מתחילת הימים. השפעת החטא הקדמון, כיצד הוא נתפס עד ימינו ובא לידי ביטו דרך דמויות מענינות ומעוררות אמפתיה אשר לומדות להכיר את עצמן/ם. אהבתי את השימוש בנקודות מבט שונות במשלימות את העלילה ומוסיפות נופך נוסף. אני סקרן לקרוא את הספר הבא ולראות כיצד יטופלו קווי העלילה השונים.

An unexpected journey into the unknown, is what we see truly what is happening? Are we living our lives sober or are we deluded about our perceived reality? Take this journey into the abyss leave your innocence at the door and step into clarity.
As soon as I saw the cover of this book I was immediately intrigued, once I read the synopsis it was love at first sight.
Religion and all its intricacies has had a pull on me for a very long time. I was born and brought up as a Cristian Catholic, and as every child I took everything for granted and never questioned what I was taught. As I grew up I began to acquire an independent thought and although my faith remained, doubts crept in, as I experienced life I had contrasting ideas all based on my personal experiences. I embraced different religions (all Christian based) and I began a new journey. If you ask me to describe myself nowadays, I wouldn’t say I’m a religious person, I’m not atheist or agnostic either, I simply refuse any labels, I strongly believe in science but I also acknowledge that some things simply evade any rational explanation.
Needless to say my curiosity and enquiring minds rejoice in bringing all the above into fiction, hence my eagerness to discover this new to me author.

𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒂𝒎𝒏𝒆𝒅 is book one of a duet and even if the main topic deals with religion, this story is so much more. It touches various themes and aspects included but not limited to the eternal fight between good and evil. I’ll abstain from revealing more as I believe the story is better enjoyed when going in blind.
The story follows Bellcolor and her journey through new discoveries, well hidden mysteries, dark secrets and untold stories; however it soon becomes clear that in order to acquire the truth it’s fundamental to uncover some concealed secrets that people close to her wants to keep shrouded. Suddenly what’s real and what’s not is easily muddled, the lines between right and wrong are more and more blurred. The cliffhanger left me begging for more.

The author does a good job in weaving the threads together and rising questions into the reader, the events are often presented through the actions of the characters rather than introduced by their internal thoughts. This choice sometimes slowed down the narrative pace and it became difficult to understand the why and how in its entirety, some redundancy also contributed to reduce the reading process. The book truly picked up towards the second half, that’s when things became truly exciting and the action was better balanced. I’m truly looking forward to diving into the second instalment. DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE MY INITIAL THOUGHTS, I HAVEN'T EVEN READ THE SECOND BOOK YET.
This is my first Nica book, and my first fantasy book I've read since like... Harry Potter in elementary school.
I walked into it completely blind, didn't even read the blurb, so the whole book is a complete surprise, and honestly, kinda chaotic. I feel like I'll definitely have to reread this book to get the full effect.
I feel like a lot, if not most of the world building is really relying on the info dumps that the poor FMC gets constantly, and I did find myself skimming now and then, unfortunately, but that's another reason to reread.
I loved the idea, as a huge theology and demonology fan! The premise is fascinating and with page you uncover a little more. And the dark academia vibes? on fleek!
So far I kinda have an idea of what the plot twist might be, but one thing I know about Nica's writing, is that I will never actually know anything until she'll let us, so, looking forward to that.
I did take issue with the FMC's name. Bellcolor Umbra. It's giving wattpad, I'M SORRY.
It's also very different from anything I've EVER read, and I admit that up until the point where we got the MMC's pov I didn't even understand how romance will play into the story, but that cleared out by the end.
The smut it self is kinda minimal but it's good, and there are erotic undertones through out the book.

I love when I read a book that is nowhere close to what expected. And what I did get blew me away.
That is Prayer of the Damned. This is my first Nica book and most definitely will not be my last. This is a psychological fantasy and is the first book in the duology. It surrounds Jewish and Christian mythology and I absolutely love how Nica tells this story.
Belle is the FMC and everything is from her POV. Some parts of told to us to to keep the story moving along and other parts are shown to us to give us more details. I am not a huge fan of being told how to visualize things (it's harder to sink into the book) but I found with this book it did not hurt too much.
I do wish things were a bit more descriptive, but again, it did not stop me from fully enjoying this story and how thing unfolded. This was absolutely a page-turner and I need the ending immediately.

This book is definitely unique and kept me guessing the whole time. I was never right about what would happen next. Bellcolor is a very unique character.
It’s a heavy read with a lot of triggers, so definitely check those before starting. Some scenes could have been more detailed, and I didn’t love that the whole summer was skipped, but the story was still told well. I’ve never read a dark psychological fantasy before, and this one was definitely a wild ride. I went in blind and had no idea what I was in for.

Absolutely mind blowing. Was slow to get into it but that was an absolute train of a plot twist. Amazing will be starting the next book immediately

So I volunteered to be an ARC reader for this book, knowing it’s completely different than what I normally read. I am so glad I took that chance! If you love mythology, angels and demons, dark romance, forbidden love then this is the book for you! If that doesn’t interest you, then I’d highly recommend taking the leap and checking it out. It was interesting since the first page, had a slight slow spots here and there (what book doesn’t?) but definitely worth pushing through! You won’t see that ending plot twist coming!

Bellcolor is a teenage girl who decides that she is going to try and end her life (check your trigger warnings in this book!). However, something happens during the process, and she is unsuccessful (kind of). Belle is then sent to a university in Italy where she is learning about the war between demons and angels, and what that means for her specifically. Belle has some trouble figuring out who she can actually trust while at university as she tries to unravel the secrets surrounding her (and the demon/angel war).
I am intentionally keeping my review of this book fairly vague, as I think there are things that you just need to read in order to keep the suspense, but let me just tell you: 1) the scene with Valentina and the vibrator; 2) the scene with Bar in his office; and 3) the scene with Bar at the barn = 🥵🥵
Throughout reading this book, I constantly had "theories" about what I thought was going to happen in this book, and let me just say for the record that I think I was right (I won't know for sure until book 2, but I have a strong feeling about it). There were points in this book where I was thoroughly confused about what was going to happen next (credit to my husband for listening to me trying to explain my theories and what was happening in this book as I was reading it), but I LOVED that feeling while reading -- I like not always being in the "know" of what is going to happen. This book gave me some Twilight vibes (from the obvious use of the name "Belle" or "Bella", but to the use of a council similar to the Volturi). I love the way that Nica told this story, and how I was kept on the edge of my seat until the very end of the book. I cannot wait for book 2!
This is not normally the type of book that I would gravitate towards, and I am SO happy that I took a chance on this one. It definitely did not disappoint, and I cannot wait to see what else Nica writes in the future!

This was my first read by Nica, and I must say it is not what I thought it would be - it started out one way and then went completely off on a tangent, but in a good way!!
I don't feel I can write a very detailed review without giving anything away, it's one of those books you need to go into blind and just read it!
This is a dark psychological fantasy read with a look behind the curtain of mental illness. A very intriguing read with a unique perspective, I really enjoyed it when I got into it.
This will definitely appeal to PNR / fantasy readers who enjoy different reads, this one has quite a lot to do with mythology.
The FMC, Bellecolor, is a story line is based on true events, she has a harrowing time from the start of the book, which does not get any easier as the book progresses, but the story line deals with this in its own unique way. She is strong and determined to find out what is happening to her, caring about those around her, not wanting them to get hurt.
This kept me wanting to turn those pages as the plot twists and turns! I know there is another book in this duology, which I am looking forward to reading and finding out just how all this plays out.

Where do you start? This duet that is connected to my heart in an inexplicable way, talks about such important and not long-winded issues and most importantly gives people who don't hear all of them, gives a glimpse into the world of the mentally disabled, with sweeping writing, Nica brings us a dark psychological fantasy and with an emphasis on dark, if only it has begun I won't stop talking about the plot and it's a shame about the spoilers. Suitable for fans of the genre and those interested in Christian and Jewish mythology, a duet that enters the heart and will not leave in life, I urge you to read it, Nika introduces us to a world where not everything is black and white, where you can see the hard struggle of the main character, a book that raises questions that are not normalized on a daily basis, but that come to mind all the time. A gripping plot that has no rest and Nica writing is completely addictive. Haven't you read it yet? Fucking go read!

Where do I begin with this review? This is the first book that I have read from Nica. I had no idea what I was going into with this one and let me tell you it was nothing I was expecting. It was far more. This is not a standard love story. Not even close to it at all.
Bellcolor finds out that there is something special about her after attempting suicide. She graduated from high school and had no idea what her life is going to become. She learns that her dad can read her mind, and he knew all along that she was special. She ends up at a special school where she has no idea how to act, survive or be around the other people at this school. She has no idea who to trust. But she will soon learn that angels are among her and want to help her. But will it be enough? This ends with a very shocking cliffhanger.
This was a very page turning storyline with twists and turns that you never see coming. Bellcolor is a very unique person who is strong, stubborn and determined to figure out what is happening to her and how to save not only herself but the people she cares out. Nica did one amazing job writing her character.
I cant wait to read the next one in the series to find out what is going to happen to Bellcolor.

The idea for the story is unique and the characters are intriguing. We meet blood-sucking demons and not-so-pure angels. The book takes an interesting approach to the story of creation; tbh I am not well-informed on Jewish religion, so at this point, I don’t want to say anything wrong, but I liked how the author presented Lilith in the story. The only thing that left me confused was the events after Belle arrives at the demon school. Some scenes were kind of rushed and I feel that the author could do so much more with descriptions of particular scenes. I would also love to know more about the side characters. Now, one thing that is not missing from this book is sexual tension. I was sipping Belle with Liam and for a moment I thought that she would end up with Valentina. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I won’t say more on this topic, just that I’m curious how the story ends. The book is 𝘂𝗻𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸, and 𝘀𝗺𝘂𝘁𝘁𝘆 and have I mentioned how it is perfect for Halloween?!

But she is learning things about her dad and the secret he has been keeping. Now she is off to a special school. A scary place for a girl who has not a clue how to act or speak to or be around the other people there. She has no one and knows that she can't trust anyone. But soon she find that angels are watching over her and they want to help her. There are twists and turns and so much more to this book than I am telling you about. It is a different read for me but I found myself loving it more and more as I was reading it.

one through me for loops!!!!
The first few chapters started off good. Than the chapter came that threw me for a loop and completely took the story a way I never thought it would go! The way the history was explained really makes you think about what we have been trained to think! The FMC (Bellcolor) is a character I can relate with. She is described as a character that feel absolutely hopeless and just point blank tired of life . Which you find out she is! I can feel and sympathize with her on so many levels! I didn’t really care for her dad. But than you learn some stuff and the way he is with her completely makes sense! The head of the council was also a complete asshat! He is a greedy one! The character development was also spot on both for Bellcolor and her dad! Valentina was someone I had high hope for but that assessment quickly turned sour! The story is written very well and I loved it! Bellcolor is such a pretty name! I can’t wait to read the second book!

If you’re looking for a story that gives you all the warm and fuzzies this isn’t it but I very much enjoyed this story.
There are definitely times where I felt a little lost in things because I felt that some of the explanations were not the best but then somehow it would make sense and I wouldn’t feel lost anymore.
I really liked the theology and demonology aspect to the story. The author did a really good job of taking the story of creation and melding it with a world and story of her own. She almost blurs the lines between good and evil and makes you wonder what defines each and which side you are on.
There can definitely be some triggers in the book if you are sensitive to bullying, suicide, and the idea of rape(although some of things things are only touched upon and do not go into much detail).
Looking forward to the next half of the story.

I saw that this book was a newer release, and I have never read a physiological fantasy before, so I thought I'd give it a try.
It was so hard to put down! I just wanted to consume this book all within the second I started. There were a few lines within the book that I personally did not like, like how the FMC is described as "childlike" in the beginning, though as you move further into the story line, and you have an understanding of who the author is talking about, it makes sense.
The book offered great detail of the scenes, without boring you. It kept you enthralled the whole time on what would happen next.
Prayer of the Damned is a very fast paced book, with an ending I was not expecting!
I cannot wait to read Sin of the Saints.

אני מלא זמן רוצה לקרוא פנטזיה.
פשוט מלא.
ואני גם מלא זמן רציתי לנסות ספרים של ניקה, אז אמרתי שנשלב.
אני ממש רציתי לקנות את הספר במודפס אבל אמרתי מרוב שאני רוצה לקרוא את זה עכשיו קניתי בדיגי והתחלתי ישר.
זה הגיע למצב שבישיבה אחת הגעתי ל44% ובאותו היום הגעתי ל56%. הספר עבר לי בשניה. יכולתי לסיים אותו גם ביום אם רציתי אבל לא הייתי בבית בחלק מהימים שקראתי..
אני לא יכולה לתאר לכם כמה נשאבתי לתוך הסיפור הזה.

אני התחברתי ככ לכל הקטע של השדים והמלאכים ואני ככ אהבתי את העלילה. כל כך!!

One of the best books I have ever read!
it’s so dark and twisted in the best possible way and it will leave you with an open mouth and a fast-beating heart, trying to grasp the enormousty of it.
It makes you ask yourself things, doubt, be entranced.
It’s the only book so far that I have read/ heard of, that touches the subject of Jewish mythology and it’s amazing.
Our mythology is so rich and it’s nice to see it touched in such a spectacular way. A way which makes you think and explore your beliefs and getting to know more the Bible in a different way.
This book will leave you on edge, but it will be the best book you read.

I've been dabbling in fantasy romance, and this was dark fantasy romance, so I decided to give it a try. It's also a new to me author, which one might expect with the "genre change" for me.
I enjoyed the world-building. I expect this to be a huge deal for this trope/genre and the author delivered!
Everything is not as it seems!
There are some serious trigger warnings for this book. Remember, dark is a word used to describe "Prayer of the Damned." Heed the warnings!

Okay so this book had you going left and right. Not necessarily in a bad way, it’s just giving you certain details and then going onto the next. I did believe this was a fast pace story where you go from Bellecolor knowing she has some type of gift to going to a school that will help her with her gift and that right there is when everything starts unraveling.
It was an exciting read full so much twist and turns. It was actually quite different a hit and felt some type of way while I was reading. All in all good way.

What a wonderful and special way to tell a story.
I don't know how to talk about this book without spilling it so I will tell you this:
The writing is so different and unique that I couldn't put it down and just when I thought I had it all figured out there's a twist that changes everything.
This book will make you guess and rethink everything.
Can't wait for the next book.

This story was intense! It took me a little while to get into the story and flow of the writing but Im so glad I stuck with it. The story itself is very unique and unlike anything I have read before. It makes you follow characters of the opposite of previous stories told. I have no idea what the end game will be and I am looking forward to the future unhinged actions of the MCs. The ending does leave you on a cliffhanger, just so you know.

Okay so I won this in a giveaway and OH MY was it a goodie. The premise is great and at first, I expected this to be a fantasy type story. Boy was I wrong. The story incorporates Christian and Jewish elements to give an almost historial fiction vibe. Overall, while there was a great deal of sexual content, it further feeds Bellcolor’s story and identity. 10/10 would read again and cannot wait for book two.

My book bestie told me about this book, and it intrigued me. That's how I came to read Prayed of the Damned.
Is it the translation, the writing style, the storytelling, or the incessant whining of the egocentric and disloyal heroine? Certainly all of that, but after 50%, I was ready to quit, that's how boring it is. I pushed a little further, but clearly, everlasting with the added interest of biblical references, it's not enough to capt my attention.
That's a no for me, sorry...
