Forced Induction: A John Tyler Thriller

Rate this book
Fast cars. Stolen guns. John Tyler is caught in the middle. When a driver crashes near his classic car shop, retired soldier John Tyler lends aid. He soon learns of more serious and deadly crimes happening nearby. The injured man turns up again asking for Tyler’s help. He’s in over his head with the wrong people. When the two barely survive an ambush, Tyler knows he needs to act. A gun runner closes deals and works on tying up loose ends… like the wounded street racer. To keep his newfound friend safe and stop the flow of illegal weapons, Tyler will travel outside of Maryland and take on his deadliest adversaries yet. He’s alone and badly outgunned. But John Tyler can’t walk away from trouble… even when it might kill him. Forced Induction is the high-octane fifth action thriller in the John Tyler series. Each title can be enjoyed as a standalone.

John Tyler is a well-constructed and captivating character. He has a sharp mind and a kind and caring nature but is lethal for his enemies.
His daughter and valuable partner, Lexi, is a bright and intelligent young woman.
Tyler, Lexi, and Sara, Tyler's girlfriend, form an intriguing cast of characters; their interactions and dialogues give life to some of the book's best parts.
Tyler's crew of mar mechanics with "special skills" are valuable co-protagonists.
Forced Induction starts slow and a little too expansive on the minute description of the members and operations of a militia group.
After the first few chapters, the plot resumes pace, and the storyline returns to a fast-paced rhythm.
I found the story way too violent, though, even considering the genre of the book. I look forward to seeing JT's skills applied to more satisfying storylines.
