FIRE KISSED, is the first bridge book from the Beautiful Nightmare series into the Netherworld. Please note, contain themes surrounding death, grief, and mature sexual situations. Intended for mature readers aged 18+ only.
Well, at least that's how I'm described in the confines of my everyday life.
Writing has always been second nature to me. I spent my childhood creating short stories and my collegiate years writing for the campus paper (Go TERPS!) Jump twenty years to the present--I'm still writing. At my day job I spend most of my time writing capability briefs, white papers, proposals--you name it.
Then one day it hit me. It was time to access my own creative power and bring to life the characters lurking in my mind.
I hope you enjoy my first book, Beautiful Nightmare. It has everything you'd look to find in a paranormal romance-urban fantasy-new age novel. Vampires. Wolves. Love. And so much more!
I felt like the fifth wheel in a group of lifelong BFFs the entire time. Just sitting there awkwardly while they talk about people you don’t know and events you weren’t in. A lot happened before the book begins. It is quickly described or recapped so we’re up to speed but….. It starts out like the continuation to a cliffhanger.
I was confused. I got book 2 vibes. I was on chapter 18 and I didn’t know he was the villain. I had to read the blurb because I thought I was accidentally skipping book 1. Doing some digging, I found out that this is book 1 for this couple but not the first book of an interconnected series. So, I would highly recommend reading those first to truly enjoy this one.
As a standalone this is a 3.25 ⭐️ for me. I’m sure it would be much higher if I had read the other books. I highly recommend you don’t read this as a standalone. Don’t be me. Read the other books first. I repeat, go read the other books first. I think I was too pouty the entire time because I missed out on whatever happened before and it seemed very very interesting. Spice was on point though.
Spice level (1-5): 🌶️🌶️🌶️.

I absolutely LOVE Kharon & Rae's relationship, and I'm completely singing a different tune from when I read One Winter's Kiss. Like the story gets even better, sexier, all the above. Going right into the story, I didn't know what to expect. This author hits you with the spice right off the bat. You can feel the tension that's been BURNING between the two from the events of what happened in One Winter's Kiss. I adore Rae ( well now lol) and Kharon is definitely bae, and I love the softness he has while being with Rae, I love them together now, lol. It's crazy how my entire opinion for the two of them has changed🤣. In One Winter's Kiss, I was annoyed with Rae, and I didn't like Kharon, but after reading the reason behind what he did, sighs, I forgive him, lol. *No spoilers* honestly, I could go on and on about this wonderful book, but I'm not, lol. Just READ THIS BOOK! I absolutely loved it! Now, hurry over to Amazon and grab your copy. Fire Born (book TWO) IS AVAILABLE NOW WHOHOO!!!
I still need to read One Winters Kiss but I think I did pretty good understanding the backstory all things considered. I highly recommend reading the other book first though, other readers have noted they bring a lot more to the groundwork.
I loved L.C.Son's jump into the steamy side! This duet is so much fun. I love the dynamic of Rae and Kharon and their forbidden love match.
In book one it's evident how sheltered Rae is from the workings of Kharon and his life and experiences. The chemistry though is perfection and I loved when these two came crashing together. Hello dream scene. Keep in mind this is a branch off of another story so it may feel like you're thrown in to the middle of a chemistry build. Go with it..
Kharon has secrets and a sister he is trying to free from the Netherworld and those wretched Changelings. Dealing with a curse and labeled a traitor are just the tip of his chaotic iceberg. As things heat up between our duo we watch each of the characters grow. I hate how much Kharon had held back and felt it added in the sheltered feel of Rae. I needn't worry though, the author knows how to bring things together.
This story was beautifully written. This is Rae and Kharon’s story. I loved that the chapters are short. Their story kept me turning the pages. It’s very steamy and I was so intrigued. I loved that it was fast paced. It’s romantic and a great read. Looking forward to more.
L.C. Son’s book one of the 𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒆 duet, helped me understand Rae a bit more. After first meeting Rae in 𝑂𝑛𝑒 𝑊𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟’𝑠 𝐾𝑖𝑠𝑠, I didn’t like her that much as I felt she was selling herself short for still wanting Kharon. I was like come on, he will propose to your cousin! Anywho I digress, back to this story. Kharon had a raw deal from the start and in Fire Kissed, we’ll get his story of why he made the moves he did. Those that made him look like a cad breaking Rae’s heart. While country music may not have been a thing of this time, Rae stood by her man. There’s more to this story, it’s not only Kharon that’s trapped in the web of the Changelings. I plan to stick with this duet as I enjoyed the world-building and am intrigued by the characters.

This was super sweet, with a touch of darkness that promises more to come!
Rae spent her life living in the shadows of her loved ones... Until one day her last fuck flew away and she decided to follow her heart.
Thankfully, fate was on her side (in more ways than one!) and she's finding her place in the world - with her true love at her side.
And Kharon 🥵 Okay, super spicy but also the sweetest ever! Not coddling Rae, but still doing all he can to protect her and help her assert herself. I loved it all but the ending left me hanging so bad! Thankfully I have Fire Born ready to read next! I can't wait to continue my descent into the Netherworld. 🖤
I loved this book! I've been waiting for what seems like forever for Kharon & Rae's story! Let me say it was worth the wait!
Let me start by saying, yes this story follows One Winter's Kiss, but you really don't have to know that book to go into this one. Very little is mentioned from the events of that book, except the fact that this is a forbidden relationship. Just go with that and you'll be fine.
When I tell you that this story is HOT! Believe me. Tons of sexy times and sexy talk and I'm all here for it. Rae is a sweet heart, with a genuine and kind-hearted personality. You can tell her family overlooks her often and that part made me sad. Except for her brother Ross. NOTHING gets by him! Oh, and yes, we need the story between him and Stephen ASAP! I love them.
Then there is Kharon! What a hottie! I don't think we got any of that from him in One Winter's Kiss and I'm glad. It's clear that he saved it all for Rae. Boy, did he save it for her. I know the author says he's a villain. I think he's more anti-hero but I'm not complaining.
Let me warn you--if you're someone who doesn't enjoy smexy scenes, don't read this. Or at least don't read this and complain. You've been warned. But it's not without a plot. Even the smexy scenes drive the plot forward. I mean how else do you truly make someone understand that she is all you've ever wanted.
If I had any con, I'd say the book was too short. I wanted more! Tons more. Thankfully for me, there's a duet coming soon.
“Perception is Everything” In L. C. Son’s One Winter's Kiss, Kharon Nix is most assuredly one of the main villains of the story. However, Ms. Son left her readers wanting to know more about this enigmatic figure. Our wishes are answered and in her latest book, Fire Kissed, we get Kharon’s side of the story. He is as much a victim as Melchior was and needs a heroine to see and love the REAL him! Rae has loved Kharon since the moment they met but could only stand by and love him from afar as he appeared to pine after her cousin, Winter. The narrative of Fire Kissed picks up shortly after the end of One Winter’s Kiss and the action is sweet yet incendiary. However twisted and complicated the road, Rae and Kharon are finally able to honestly declare their love for each other. But will the secrets and other dynamics derail their ability to openly love each other? Ms. Son gives us a complex tale stitched together with familiar dark fables and innovative storytelling. I totally enjoyed this angsty story with plenty of heat and generous helpings of romance.
Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.
Ok so. I felt I was missing something, something VERY important. It appears this is a spin off of another series by this author and I think it would have been beneficial to have been told that those two books were to be read before this one. It really effected my enjoyment of this one.
Both Kharon and Rae get a say, so I did like that.
I didn't get all the references to Kharon being a bad guy, only that he wronged Rae's family. But when you find out WHY he did what he did, it makes perfect sense.
It's on the steamier side, but I didn't quite feel it, you know? It's all there laid out for you, but I wasn't feeling the connection between Rae and Kharon very much.
This is book one in the Fire Duet. I think I might pass on book two. OR read those other books BEFORE I read that one, just to fill in my knowledge about Kharon and, actually, about ALL this group of people.
I love this amazing, beautiful story with fascinating characters in a thrilling new world. Rae is a beautiful, heartwarming, loving young woman, Ross is her charming, outgoing twin. They went skiing with Kharon, Ross sees a friend and disappears, Rae and Kharon are on ski lift when it stops, swinging in a freezing wind Kharon shares his coat with Rae. Rea and Kharon are delightful together, strong attraction and many challenges, misunderstandings, confusion, heartache, betrayal and dangers must be overcome before their wonderful relationship is accepted. Spellbinding, steamy delicious romantic 💕 action packed, exciting story filled with vampires, werewolves, hybrids, jinn, changeling witches, the fates and a son of the Netherworld plus the love of his life and her human family. What more could you want of this awesome story but the next book.💕🥰 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is book one in the Fire Duet. I do suggest reading One Winter's Kiss first as there is a lot of background that I feel would enhance this story and help understand the feelings and actions of the characters in this book.
This is Rae and Kharon's story and it is beautifully written. Their love for each other is never-ending even though they have a tough road to navigate before they will get their HEA. We get some background on whey Kharon acted the way he did in One Winter's Kiss and it now all makes sense. This story is beautifully told and a a really fast read. If you love books that have characters that have to fight to get their HEA, this duet is for you. I love how L.C. son writes her characters and the struggles they have to endure in order to find that HEA. This book gets 4 stars.
When I started this book, I was tipped off by a friend (who I kept calling to get her to explain to me what was happening) when she said to stop and read one of the author's earlier books (One Winter's Kiss) so I could understand what was happening better (and stop calling her!). So I did, and that made Fire Kissed literally go from a DNF review to a 4.5 star rating. Wow did I learn a lot from OWK. Of course - being a lover of bad guys/villains, I was so ready for Kharon’s story. He so deserves love - but the twists and turns and sudden side steps just ripped away the opportunities for Rae and Kharon to get over themselves and just allow their feelings to be realised...until they're not again. Argh, the pain! Engrossing story, sooo well written!.

What I love about this series is the unique magic system that's built over several books. You get to a point where all the fantasy creatures are the same. The story is the same. It's one cookie cutter book after another. This is not like that. I can honestly say I've never read anything like this and it's so charming. Each take on the folklore of old is so interesting. I find myself flipping through the pages just to get more info on each sect. I'm absolutely in love with Rae and Kharon. They are so perfect. And it's always fun to see Dalcour. He's so sinister. I recommend reading one winter's kiss first. It gives this couple more depth and it'll feel more slow burn. This was a great read for sure. Excited to see what happens next.
Thanks to the author for giving me an advanced copy of this book.
The fast paced plot with short chapters offered readers a thrilling ride throughout. Each chapter introduced romantic elements that keep this read steamy and spicy. Plus, there's even a subplot that adds yet another layer of interest to the story! It had like 3-5 chapters straight about their intimacy, so yeah it was spicy.
Overall, I found "Fire kissed" enjoyable. It doesn't remain too serious or grim though, as it includes some funny moments along the way which added much-needed lightheartedness to an otherwise darker context.
This book is my first one from this talented writer and I loved it. Rae and Kharon's love story is forbidden and their true love for each other is breathtaking. Their encounters were captivating and intense. And their connection was out of this world. This story is gripping and it's also an easy read packed with lots of action. I also enjoyed the fact that this plot is right to the point with a few descriptive scenes and for me, this was welcoming and refreshing.
I recommend it to everyone in this genre and I cannot wait to read more about Rae and Kharon love story.

Wow. This book was spicy sweet and Kharon and Rae stole my heart. Seriously, this is a paranormal romance with a mythological twist that will draw you in and not let you go. There's plenty of tension, and not just the sexy kind, and the twists will have you spinning in your seat. You'll want to read this with a cool drink nearby, there are quite a few scenes that will have you overheating in the middle of winter. I cannot recommend this enough if you're looking for a new paranormal forbidden lovers romance that you won't want to put down for even a second.
This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It was a well paced quick read with plenty of spice. I will admit that I perhaps could have benefited from reading the author’s previous books in order to understand all the connections, but that wasn’t anything a quick google couldn’t fix and for me didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the story.
Rae and Kharon are great main characters. And if you, like me, prefer your MMC from the villainous end of the “good guy - morally grey”-scale, this will be for you. Looking forward to the second part of this duet! 😍
Rae and Kharon are back and I'm thrilled to see them again! Their story had everything you want and then some, cause this author does that. Their love story isn't easy but it's worth it. It's a story that will hold your interest and you'll be rooting for them, it's steamy and there are other characters we know included and I think it's always great having others you know show up. I enjoy this author's books and this one didn't disappoint! A definite must read!
If you like steamy hot romance novels, you'll really like this one. This dark fantasy romance has great relationship dynamics and readers should be forewarned it has mature content. However, there's a lot more to the story than just steamy sex which is very well-written I should add. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the next book as it opens up a lot of possibilities for more intriguing plots. Fire Kissed is is the first book in a duet by L.C. Son. A really fast paced but short forbidden paranormal romance between Rae and Kharon. The twist and turns made this a unique dark read. I would recommend you read this after One Winter’s Kiss for a more enjoyable read. Like most spin offs it is not necessary since it a continuation. I enjoyed reading Fire Kissed and looking forward to reading Fire Born.

This is an interesting book and take on the Netherworld. We finally get the reason as to why things happens and shy things were said. Relationships are tested and mended. This is a heated and steamy story and it is worth reading. I will say that before you read this book it is worth reading One Winter’s Kiss to get more background on Rae and Kharon’s relationship.
This is my first L.C. Son novel, the first part of a duet, and I wasn't disappointed. Deliciously dark and sinful. Great characters, and a well written storyline. Would recommend. Cannot wait for the next book!

I’m so delighted to finally have Kharon + Rae’s story out in the world. 🖤 If you’ve read One Winter’s Kiss, you’ve likely wondered what happened to these two. Now everything is laid bare. Literally.
This is a much steamier and darker romance than its predecessor so turn up your AC and bring out your fan because we’re about to LET IT ALL BURN🔥
Only true love could see the man Kharon as he truly is. Can he find true love and does he deserve to find love? He's a ferryman to the netherworld. His family is cursed. I loved reading this book and a lot happens in a short period of time. I can't wait to read the next one! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of the book. Thank you.
This book was very well written and the storyline drew you in and kept you wanting more. The spice was excellent and I couldn’t put it down I was so invested. I highly recommend reading this book and checking out this author because I fell in love and will be a avid fan
This Author was new to me so I didnt have any preconceptions. Book was very well written & I enjoyed it a lot. Look forward to seeing more from this Author!
If you’ve been reading my reviews for the past couple of years, then you know how much I love L.C. Son’s Beautiful Nightmare series. I have been part of her ARC team since book 1. I am loving how these stories are continuing and leading us through more of these characters’ lives, as well as introducing us to new ones along the way.
Fire Kissed is best read after reading One Winter’s Kiss so no details are missed. And, these books are intended for adult readers 18+ years old. The spice is written with class and beauty between two characters who are deeply in love, however, it is very spicy and the scenes are detailed.
This is the story of Rae and Kharon. It is an awakening of their relationship. A forbidden romance because Kharon is thought to be a traitor to Rae’s family, this relationship will be frowned upon. but, fate is fate, and you can’t help who you love.
I love Rae, but I think her naivete might be her undoing. There are many secrets about Kharon and his involvement in a certain situation surrounding Rae’s family. She is only 19, and it shows.
Kharon is the kind of protector that dreams are made of. Gorgeous, sexy, strong, devoted, and willing to do anything necessary to keep the one he loves safe. The Prince of the Netherworld can’t really be all that and a bag of chips. Or can he? Only time will tell. I do feel, though, like he is treating Rae like a child. If she’s old enough to do all that she just did with him, she’s old enough to handle the truth about things. Holding back will only make things worse. Men sometimes!
This book is everything you’d want in a paranormal romance. Super sexy MMC, touch her and die vibes, super steamy scenes, mystery, curses, vampires, wolf shifters, changelings, and a great character-driven story. Even though this is a short book, it tells such a good story.
I highly recommend Fire Kissed to fans of paranormal fantasy, forbidden love, steamy romance, age-gap, and touch her you die vibes. I can’t wait to read the next installment, Fire Born, and see where this story goes.
This book was a beautiful, classy, yet super steamy continuation of Rae and Kharon's story from One Winter's Kiss. He had me wanting to go out and find a giant sexy man from the Netherworld!
I really enjoyed that the chapters were short so I actually felt like I was accomplishing something with my reading. I don't much care for lengthy chapters of superfluous fluff. L.C. Got me to the point in vivid, yet concise, detail. And turned me on :)
I am even more excited about the next book in the duet!!!
